Ahu's
The beach 3.5km down the road from where we're living, Ahu Ahu Road, a lovely place for a walk, swim, surf, or sunset skip around
Classic Taranaki
cows at sunset...a typical scene around here as it's one of the largest dairy farming places in the world.
Mt Taranaki
our glorious mountain...a dormant volcano that we live under:)
WE still have yet to hike the summit. Weather must be right. Now that it's March all the snow has melted off. In the winter, there is a skifield on the lefthand side for skiing and snowboarding.

4th of July flying in the sky
We both got to have a go at flying this little plane over the ocean and rugged mountain terrain of Kaikoura NZ, it was awesome!! We're planning to buy our own plane now. hee hee. WE'll come visit you soon!
View from Pink's flight
Mountain ranges continue south along the coast...This is the view while flying over them after experiencing 2 Gforce turns....Good fun
Pink's turn at the Helm
A birthday gift from my boss for Leslie and I to have Introductory Flights at the local Kaikoura Airport, we flew in the Piper Cherokee 180, 4 seater...we each had a half hour flight taking off and landing on the grass runway..
Fasten your seatbelts
My flight was north up the coast to the Clarence rivermouth...I was just absorbing it all in and reveling in the fact that I was actually steering the plane..Went up to about 2,500ft, did some turns, and watched the monitors, learned what everything means....saw a pod of dolphins heaving through the crystal blue water...
View from Leslie's flight
Beautiful clear morning, barely any wind, perfect for learning how to fly!
Flying high in the friendly NZ skies July4
Flying over our house on the Peninsula...we are the top point of the 3 points on the left side of the Peninsula..the brown and silver house if you can find it
New Handlebar Mugshot
Get ready to rev your engines.....This chin hasn't seen sunlight for a year and a half, since we left Cali...notice the special Pink Aura...
Winter Wonderland
Easterly ocean swells coming in to hit the New Wharf down the street from our house
full moon Kaikoura July 1, 2007
Full Moon Fever, as the sun was setting the moon was rising. This beach is right behind our house, we just have to walk down a driveway, duck underneath a fence, walk across the lawn, and there we are
Kahutara Kaikoura
"Couch-era" is where Pink has scored the best and biggest waves in Kaikoura...a right point with rivermouth and views of snowcapped mountains, definitely a unique surf spot.
Hislops Cafe Renovations
Pink built the new steps, pavers, garden wall, concrete pathway, and stone retaining wall....installed new wooden doors and linear board siding. Fun projects enabling us to live in Kaikoura!
Penny's Panty Party
My friend Penny from the lettuce patch turned 30 and the theme was to wear your undies on the outside! Needless to say we had many a laughs that night seeing the locals of Kaikoura in their partywear.
Our pad
Our Kaikoura homestead for 2 and a half months...we live on the bottom floor but still get to enjoy the deck as the landlords are only there once a month maybe. From the deck we can see the ocean, check the surf, and the snow-capped mountains. The birds love our lawn, especially in the morning....early bird gets the worm!!

our homemade campspot
Notice the plantlife surrounding our tent. We set-up and had to do some house cleaning with the boulders. Not too many clearings for a tent but we made it happen right next to the river sounds all night long
Seal Pups swimming at the waterfall
Thirty newborn seal pups swimming and practicing their new moves a half mile up stream from the ocean. A 75 foot waterfall dumps into the fresh water pond where they gather for playing. We can stand alongside and watch as if we are the lifeguards watching the kids play and splash.
Ivan, Paul, and Ben Hislop with Pink
a day at the hislop's cafe doing some remodeling. The hislop family men and me with the snowy Kaikoura mountain range in the distance. A rad work sight to look up and see the mountains and hear the ocean.
