What Not to Wear

In an increased effort to dress my age, while still maintaining some measure of coolness, I have decided to make this my new motto. (pregnant or not)

Although the rise in ultra low rise jeans has made this very difficult, I will not give up. I refuse to settle for the "mom jeans" complete with front butt.

Who's with me?

I'm All About Them Words. . .

I always enjoy reading the funny words that all of your kids say. Here are a few funny words from my house as of late:

Cole: "Mom, your belly is too tall to fit in this house."

(Apparently tall=ginormous to Cole. I have to admit I perfer tall.)

Brynn: "Are there tornado's here?"
Me: "No."
Brynn: "Are there any in Texas?"
Me: "Yes."
Brynn: "I don't want to live in Texas."
Me: "Why? You are afraid of tornados?"
Brynn: "YES! I don't want to get twisted all up!"

(DUHH, MOM!)

Brynn: "Mom. Guess what colors I am thinking of. They both start with P."
Me: "Pink and Purple."
Brynn: "No. Purple and Purple-ish red-ish."

(How did I not get that right?)

Brock: "Cole give me back my slinky!"
Cole: "Brock. . .take a deep breath!
Stop crying. I'm taking the slinky away."

("take a deep breath" is what I say to my kids when they are loosing it. Cole has heard this once or twice before.)

Cole spys an FJ while we are driving in the van.
Cole: "Mom there's Dad!"
Rob: "Cole. . .that's not me. I'm right here driving."
Cole: "Oh. . .(laughing hysterically) Dad's right here!"

(Dad has been gone a lot lately. We aren't use to having him around. Even if he may be driving the car we are sitting in.)

For No Good Reason. . .

*For no good reason my daughter gave me this note:

Thank you sweet girl. . .I needed that.

*For no good reason, other than the fact she could tell I needed help, my mother-in-law chased Cole around for an entire little league baseball game so I could actually sit and watch Brock play.

Thank you "best ever mother-in-law". . .I needed that.

*For no good reason, other than the fact that I am super hormonal, a friend let me cry on her shoulder.

Thank you friend. . .I needed that.

*For no good reason, I got an e-mail from a friend who mentioned that I looked beautiful on Sunday.

Thank you friend. . .pregnant me really needed that!

* Today I will do something for someone for no good reason because who knows. . .maybe they really need it.

TOO MUCH STUFF!

I found this movie on my cousin Leigh's blog and I can't stop thinking about it. (This might be due to the fact that today I needed something more in this brain of mine other than Curious George and how to make the perfect PB&J.) If you have a few minutes to spare, watch this short film about our super consuming society and let me know what you think. It's fast moving and really makes you think about all the "stuff" we have, where it came from and why we bought it in the first place. Not to mention what happens to it when we throw it out, only to run out and buy more "stuff."

(Just push play towards the top of the site and the movie will start.)

As to the battle between cleaning the bathrooms and dying to make a few earring ideas I had floating around in my head. . .

Jewelry won!
(Mostly due to the fact that I could be completely sedentary while doing it.)

(retro mocha colored hoops with navy crystals)

(vintage aluminum roses on hand made ear wires)

P.S. Sorry family for the current condition of the bathrooms in this house. I promise to do them tomorrow. Unless of course I'm pulled in some other more pleasant direction.

Famous

Famous for what?
Everyone's eyes on me.
What shall I perform?
What will my talent be?

Crisp, immaculate house.
Balanced meal, 5 o'clock.
Neatly folded laundry.
Partner for every sock.

Applause! Applause!
But wait, I'm so much more.
Me, a shaper of souls.
Little ones, numbering four.

And if famous for only this,
Content I will be.
Four souls to my charge,
Lord's eyes on me.

Good Morning

This morning I openend my eyes to find this:

Brock on one side of the bed.

Cole on the other.

Seconds later. . . Cole has decided that we can no longer lay there if He is perfectly awake.

(somehow he has found my sunglasses.)

*And so my day begins!*

Ear Wear

I've been beading with vintage components and here are a few of my creations.

(I like this pair because it takes vintage beads and puts a modern twist on them)

(These flowers are posts for a more conservative self.)

Apparently I am into red. Really needing to get myself some red maternity something or other!

What's this?

Not a picture of my kids watching conference!
(Thankfully the talks come out in the Ensign. . the only real way I get to take them in.)

Instead, a picture of the first day of SPRING BREAK!

No running around like crazy tring to get everyone showered, dressed, fed, and off to school on time. Just jammies, cartoons, and buttermilk pancakes!

Side note: Brock is not picking his nose in this pic, but even if he was. . .I don't care. . .did I mention it's SPRING BREAK!

Frame This

I've been making a few things as of late. I always enjoy making these frames because I can create a little something out of nothing. I usually use old frames from around my house, ones that need some help. Just add a little paper and some mod podge and you've got a whole new look.

( This one I did with fabric.)

Now all I need to do is develop the two years worth of digital pictures I've got stored on six discs sitting by my computer!

Sad Heart and Samoas

Well, they're gone! The second half of my "goodly parents" has left and I am ready to spend the rest of this day sulking and trying to ignore Cole as he asks me for the fiftieth time,

"Mom, where's Papa J and Grandma T?"

If they just weren't so awesome. . .it wouldn't be so hard to have them go. They always leave me better than they found me. Mom and Dad, I love you both!

So. . .Karen, Dave, Suzy and the rest of my Texas family. . .you can have them back now. Don't worry about me. I will be fine.

I have plenty of Samoas and Tag-a-longs to dull my pain!
