For My Mother

If I could become just a sliver of you
Just one errant ray of the light you emit
Just a dash of the kindness you freely dole out
Just a glint of the joy you scatter like glitter
If I could become just a crumb from your cake
Just one sweet gesture of the grace you bestow
Just a speck of the patience that you demonstrate
Just a dollop of the love you show
I would step out the door and change the world
I would impact all that I meet for good
If I could become just a sliver of you
I would
I will
Dear Mother
The feature pic is my mother as a young woman. This is a poem I gave her one Mother’s Day. Her response was, “I love you with all my heart.” She went home to be with the Lord on March 4th and I miss her something fierce. I’m so glad I took the time to tell her what she meant to me. Her Celebration of Life is still available online for a year’s time, if you missed it and want to watch the good bits. Click here and scroll down past the eulogy. Posts come out when I feel like it, and I haven’t felt much like it lately, because I’ve been crying and reminiscing. A post on my experience with grief is in the works. 🙂 Scroll down to the bottom of the page to follow me or sign up to receive my posts via email. Listen to my posts on Spotify.
