New Camera!

I decided to buy myself a DSLR camera, after looking around I found the Cannon Rebel T3 on sale; I couldn’t pass it up. I’m slowly learning how to use all of the features, but it’s so much fun. I’ll be uploading some of my better photos, I hope as time goes on my poor photography skills will improve!

Summer is almost here

Hello again! Summer classes have started, and I’m still crocheting the Lucy blanket. I’ve only got two more repeats to go! Here are some pictures!!

I decided to rip out the other two projects. The wool just wasn’t right for the patterns…But I did start(and finish) a baby blanket for my aunt and uncle! I’ll post pictures after the baby shower…I don’t want them to stumble across the pictures! I started to use this pattern for the blanket…but it didn’t work with the worsted wool I was using, so I changed the stitch pattern and the starting chain numbers…I think it turned out great! I finished the blanked and worked all the ends in while watching the Jubilee festivities! Now I’m going to really work at finishing my blanket, so I can start something else! I’m working really hard at not having a TON of projects going at once…It just gets too overwhelming with everything I now have to do. When I was younger, I could have 5 projects going and finish them all. My between work and uni I find it hard to finish one. At least it won’t be that way forever! I only have 2.5 years to go-and I’ll have my BA and Masters degree!

I’m only taking one class per Summer session, I’m hoping to have a bit of a relaxing summer between school and work! We’ll see though, I’m getting more hours added to my work schedule and summer classes are intense. It’ll be fun though, I love a challenge and proving to myself that I can do anything!

I’ve decided to take a break from designing, I’m not going to quit forever- but I just don’t have to time to write down patterns and format them. I want to take it back up once I’m done with university. I’m still selling my old designs on Ravelry, and I’ll always be around to offer help to anyone who needs it!

Still here

I just wanted to let everyone know that I’m still here! School has been crazy and I haven’t had much time to knit, much less write something that isn’t homework. I’m almost finished with finals, after that I plan to update the blog before summer classes start. I’ll post some pictures of what I have started…I think there are only 3 projects. A sleeveless sweater, a Lucy blanket, and a lace mini shawl. The last one my cat got to and I have to rejoin the wool…Silly kitten, If he wasn’t so cute I’d be mad!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving to all those in the U.S.! I’m going to be spending the day at home and relaxing! Hopefully I’ll be knitting too 😉 I’ve been knitting a bit between school and work, but no designing I do have a project on the needles for Spring, a new design, hopefully I’ll have it up and ready by the end of February!

Currently I’m working on Christmas gifts and ornaments, and socks! I run a once a week knitting group at my work, so I get an hour or two of knitting time! I love it!

I’ll have to upload pictures of all the things I’ve made, but here are the Ravelry links to the patterns…

Kate’s Shawl

Insou

Pretty in Blue

I’ve made 3 Minotaur Cowls and I have at least one more planed!

Owl Puffs these make great ornaments when done with leftover sock wool!

Slouchy Hat

Lastly I’ve crochet the Violaine Top and I want to make more! It’s such a flattering pattern, it looks great on all shapes and sizes. I would really recommend buying the pattern and making a few!

 I’ll take some pictures of my items this weekend and get them up. Hopefully I’ll get better about posting…Or maybe not 😉 IT’s been a crazy school year and I’ve had to get all my stuff together in order to transfer to Library Science BA program. I’m happy to say that it’s all done and I have my classes for the Spring term all set to go! I have had some free time , which I have used to watch the new season of Merlin! It’s great so far and the next one plays Saturday night, so if you’re in the UK you can see it on BBC One. If you’re not you can see it here. Love this site, they are a lifesaver! Anyway, everyone have a safe and happy holiday!

New Patterns!!

Yay, I have 3 new patterns out for sale on Ravelry!

This is the Fairy Tale Shrug, I love the way it turned out. It’s a very nice lace pattern worked in such a way so that the lace pattern travels in the same direction!

This next one is called Wood Nymph Shawl. It’s a larger, longer version of the Wyvern Lace Kerchief. Thank you to all the people who wrote in and asked if it could be a shawl. I’m glad there is so much interest in the pattern!

The last on is called Modern Romance Wrap. It’s a 3-in-1 accessory!

I’m currently working on another new design made with hand-dyed sock wool. I used food coloring to create a hand painted effect. It’s currently in my basket as I’m knitting two other projects for myself! I’ll post pictures of all as I finish them!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have to  share a cute show I’ve been watching, it’s called Campion. They are based on the books by Margery Allingham. The main character is an aristocratic detective who, with the help of his ex-burglar butler, solve crimes for the high-brow of English society.  They are great if you want something light and fun.
Happy Knitting
Spring
Well Spring is almost here and all the snow has melted off the ground! I’ve been doing some knitting and crocheting, mainly for my mum’s friend and her baby.
I do have three new patterns out. Two for purchase and one for free!! Here are the links to the Ravelry site!
Pemberley Mantle – Named for a setting in Pride and Prejudice- this is a free pattern!
Meow, Meow  Pussy Hat
Slouchy Rainbow Rasta
I’m going to work on adding the free pattern to the blog, for those who aren’t Ravelry members…
I have to share this AMAZING blog my mum introduced me to. Attic 24 . It’s such an inspiring blog! In an earlier post Lucy shared a bunting pattern from Crochet with Raymond. It was lovely and I decided I had to have my own. So all day Saturday I crochet my fingers off, and by that night I had these lovely beauties!
These fifteen lovelies were created using crochet hook size 4.25mm(US G) and  one entire ball of Bernat Mosaic. Because I’m lazy, I chose Bernat Mosaic so I wouldn’t have to work all those ends in! All I have to do is crochet the banner chain. I’m going to buy white crochet thread for that part.  I decided to leave the tassels off because I would want them to match the triangles and it would end up using an entire second ball…
My next project is the Neat Ripple Pattern for my young cousin! I just have to decide what colors I want to do!
Lastly I leave you with a poem from one of my favorite poets…
Spring Quiet
Christina Rossetti (1847)
Gone were but the Winter,
Come were but the Spring,
I would go to a covert
Where the birds sing.
Where in the whitethom
Singeth a thrush,
And a robin sings
In the holly-bush.
Full of fresh scents
Are the budding boughs
Arching high over
A cool green house:
Full of sweet scents,
And whispering air
Which sayeth softly:
“We spread no snare;
“Here dwell in safety,
Here dwell alone,
With a clear stream
And a mossy stone.
“Here the sun shineth
Most shadily;
Here is heard an echo
Of the far sea,
Though far off it be.”
Way too long
It’s been way too long since my last post!
Since I last posted I’ve decided to start selling my patterns on Ravelry, click the link below to head over to the store!
http://www.ravelry.com/stores/gabi-bolland-designs
I’m currently running a promo, buy any 2 patterns-get 1 free. It’s running until January 28th so take advantage of it while you can!
Also feel free to join my group! I’m planing on running a Knit-a-long in the Spring/Summer.
I’ve been extremely busy with school and work, but next term should run more smoothly so I should be posting more and designing more too! I have two new patterns in the works, I just need to take the pictures. I’ll post in the next couple of days when they’re up on Ravelry.
While I haven’t been designing I have been knitting. I made a hot water bottle cosy for my gran for Christmas, two Christmas stockings (for my parents), two hats(for which I’ll have the pattern for soon), a baby set, and I started the cuffs of a pair of Christmas socks-my mum finished them(they were for my gran)! Next time I’m starting my Christmas knitting earlier then November!
After all that last minute Christmas knitting, I’m kinda knitted out, so I’m spinning the fleece I got for Christmas!!  I’m half-way finished!
I’m currently on break and in between catching up on missed t.v. shows and Bollywood movies, my mum and I are listening to The Knitting Pipeline podcasts.  This has to be my favorite podcast, I love it when she reads the letters she received from EZ. She also talks about what she’s knitting, interesting patterns and books, and contests! Check it out!!
Happy New Year and happy knitting.
Memories
I was looking through some old photos the other day…and this is what I found…
I made this out of some really old yarn, it was a mix of angora and wool(I think). The pattern is from Glampyre Knits it’s called One Skein Wonder and can be purchased on her site! I recommend you check out her site and patterns, she’s been one of my favorite designers for a long time!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I can’t believe how young I was in that picture! Here’s on of my favorite crochet ponchos!!! I wore it all the time, it was made with a super soft angora wool! It was extremely light and yet still very warm!  It’s called  Posh Poncho, and you can find the pattern by clicking the name!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyway, right now I’m working on a mini adult  surprise jacket and a pair of socks. I recently designed a new pattern which was debuted at TNNA  Summer.
It’s called Ceridwen Camisole, and it’s made out of a pima cotton silk mix. This is my first misses sized design and I’m super pleased with  the way it turned out. I’ve now been bitten by the knit clothing bug and I’d love to do a sweater next!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Knitting,

❤ Gabi

Time flies

Wow does time fly, I started college in August 09 and I’ve forgotten to write on my blog! I have two newish patterns out, I’ll have the new pages up with any errata that I’ve found, this weekend. I have to wait for my dad, I’m not sure how to do it yet.;0

The first pattern is called Fair Isle Rasta it’s made with Frog Tree’s Merino Melange Worsted and Merino Worsted.

The second is called Wyvern Lace Kerchief is made with Alpaca sport and uses 9 crystal beads at each point!

I’m in the process of designing more patterns so I’ll keep you all posted!

What’s going on in your life?

Well, I’ve just finished Spring term and I’m waiting for summer term to start! I only have one class this Summer and it’s online, so that will give me time at home! I’ve also taken two jobs, which along with my designing should keep me very busy! My puppy just turned 7, O.k. so he’s not really a puppy but he’ll always be a puppy to me!!!

What have you been watching?

Since the end of term I’ve been watching Bollywoods and BBC movies like;

What’s your Raashee?

Pyaar impossible

and

North and South ( the book is really good too)

Just to name a few!!!

I’ll try to be better  about writing this Summer!!

Enjoy the beautiful Spring weather!!!

New Pattern

Hi all,

It’s been ages since my last post, and this time it’s a good reason. I’ve started college! I’m having loads of fun, and I still have plenty of time for designing!

Speaking of designing, I have a new pattern out called Elysian Fields Shawl.

It’s made from Frog Tree Alpaca Fingering weight wool.

Check out the pictures!

Currently I’m working on EZ’s Adult Surprise Jacket, EZ’s Pi shawl, the Clapotis scarf, and a pair of socks for myself( I’m knitting them in between classes!) I also want to try out an idea I got last night. It has to do with the Surprise Jacket. I’ll post pictures once I try it out!

Happy Knitting.
