One of my goals for the new year is to take more pictures. I'm hoping that in the process I will learn a few new things about photography and how to use my camera in something other than automatic mode. By far the best thing I've learned so far is that these moments are so worth capturing-regardless of the quality of the picture. We are in a new season and these brothers are spending a lot of their time together. I am so thankful.

Three Little Climbers
There is a fantastic new park near the EMP. Or at least it's new to us. The kids could have climbed all.day.long. The girls are such climbers and seem to have no fear of heights at all. I think Jo's only intimidation was all the other kids.
Millie is a monkey to the core
Look mom, we're twinning.
This guy on the other hand. He's a little more fearful. Funny how impulsive he can be with some things but when it comes to heights he's pretty cautious. But it only took him a couple tries and he was all over that jungle gym. The girls cheered him on and Amelia would wait for him at that top.
Just a little perspective. I had a few butterflies.
This cracked me up. The story of our lives..."daddy is allergic."
Of course there was shaved ice after all that climbing
And a little bit of playing in the fountain before heading home
This is a perfect picture of their personalities. Z the outgoing, do the opposite of what mom says. Amelia, I want to follow the rules but I'm going to push the boundaries as far as possible. And Josie, the rule following, keep everyone else accountable and hang in the back until someone needs my help.
See what I mean
It was a strange feeling not having the big kids with us. We are realizing that more and more this might be the case. They are usually great sports about doing the family outings but the gap sometimes feels so big and their schedules so packed. But I will keep pushing for the family days all together for as long as possible. Like until they're bringing their kids along.

Meet Pippi
"I can't believe we have a dog. I can't believe dad said 'yes'!" I think I've heard this exclamation at least two dozen times over the last 5 days. Years ago we told the kids there would be no dogs until everyone was out of diapers. Well, it's been quite awhile since I've changed a diaper so it was time. After doing some research and chatting with other Goldendoodle owners we decided on a mini petite Goldendoodle. Mini and petite? yes, apparently one can be both. And boy is she mini. She weighs in just under 3 pounds and will get 15 pounds at the biggest.
After a ballot vote (organized by Amelia, of course) Pippi was the winning name. Being a family that loves nicknames I think it lends itself quite well to all kinds of fun nicknames....Pip, Pipster, Pips, Pippers, Pip pip hooray, pip pip cheerio. You get the idea.

Sweet, tiny Pip has been with us five days now and I can say we are all head over heels for this bitty one. I am now that lady that takes her pup in the car to run errands and the kids keep track of the minutes until they get to be the one snuggling her. She is the
cutest little bugger and I'm sure glad we finally said "yes."

Moving on up
We couldn't be more proud of her and her sweet friends. Not for a minute do we take
for granted the wonderful friends she is blessed with.
some that have even been with her since those first days of life.
Mags and her adorable friend Carson. These two have been doing school
together since the first days of preschool.
It was quite the photo shoot
Maggie Lu + Gracie Mae
Pretty Girls
So here's to another year. Another milestone and new beginnings.
She is more than ready to take on high school. I am so proud of her courage, her
kindness, her perseverance, her hard work and her love for Jesus.
You're going to be just fine, Maggie Lu.
Love, your sappy mama
