Darwin has chosen a new shell as well...

I guess a couple of these fellows are going to take off into the big bad world! Krysti thinks a couple of them need some edumacation and she wants a PET at college. *rolls eyes*... She wants me to come up this weekend and bring her some. Like she doesn't have ENOUGH to do!

Believe It or Not... an Ella Tale

We went to visit some of Mom's relatives in Delaware...
Mom, Uncle Durante, and Ella

Of course... you know how it goes when you get together with family you haven't SEEN in awhile... They start telling old family stories -- especially if there's someone NEW to tell them to! And Ella is a fairly happy listener! She loves a good tale! So Uncle Durante, who is a real character, starts telling this absurd story from "days of yore" - about this dragon and how Great Great GREAT Uncle Shamus Dryndl had come across one of her eggs and took it home with him... there was a mighty battle over the baby dragon between Shamus and the Mama Dragon and well... you can imagine how UGLY it got -- and the Mama Dragon WON! (well of course she did -- Uncle Shamus was NO match for a DRAGON! It wasn't like he was magical or anything!) Poor Uncle Shamus... And so Ella asked... WHERE did this happen? And wouldn't ya know... Uncle Durante points down the street and says "oh just about a mile that way..." ... Well, don't you know our Ella is quite the archaeologist...

Do you knOw that Elephants can move quite QUICKLY when they want to? Uncle Grimbor didn't get to finish saying "Don't GO there - The dragon LIVES!" before she was out the door and GONE! (what do you mean you never HEARD of the Dreadful Dragon of Delaware? *rolls my eyes...* EVERYONE knows Delaware has a dragon! )

Well... by the time we got there, Ella had completely disappeared - into the woods like a chipmunk! I know... elephants ARE considerably larger than chipmunks -- but she disappeared! All WE saw was this sign...

Apparently Ella MISSED the sign as she went flying through!

... because she obviously disturbed the egg! ... *sigh*

The next thing she knew she heard a horrrrrrible ROOOOAR and she JUMPED halfway outta her skin and RAN for cover! There are not many places to hide from an angry dragon, but Ella came to a house in the woods! A darling little house built in a BIG ol' tree!

She knocked on the door!
(but she got no answer)

She climbed up to look in the window...
A light was ON!
She kept searching and searching...

Finally the owner came out...
Ella breathlessly explained what had happened...
but the troll man said NO!
She couldn't stay there!
She disturbed the dragon egg!!!
He sent her packin'!

Poor Ella... she tried to hide under a mushroom.
(Elephants don't fit very well under mushrooms...)

The next thing she knew she was chained up!
(trying to chew her way through those chains...
NOT good on the teeth Ella!)

FORTUNATELY... the prince showed up!
Just as he always does...
He rescued our Fair Ella...

And returned her safely back to us!
Uncle Grimbor & Ella

We all had snowcones to celebrate!
The Uncles were glad we got Ella back safely - but they
just had to tease Mom about her choice of friends!

Mom said...

Blllllph!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Soooooo... OFF Ella goes on the big silver bird that will take her away to ... her next big adventure in... HAWAII!!! Yes, she is on her way to see Quilly and OC... I'm sure OC is just thrillllllled about THIS development! LOL! I can't wait to see what she & Quilly will find to do! ( I just PRAY she doesn't fall in a volcano! ) .... i bet she gets to learn the hula ... I'm sO jealous!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Krysti & her partner were eliminated in the first round of yesterday's debate! :( I asked her what went wrong and she said the opposition hit them with 2 disadvantages that they didn't have a solution for. I guarantee you this... THAT won't happen in the NEXT debate! LOL! Oh the joy of achieving brain wrinkles!

The Hubby Meme... My Blogging Personality... and Stuff...

I found this Hubby meme over at Barbara H's Stray Thoughts the other day - and I've NEVER done a Hubby meme before so I jumped right on it! It could be a Wife meme too I suppose...

Dennis & I on our anniversary at the Comedy Club

1. He’s sitting in front of the TV; what is on the screen?
Probably the History Channel, the Science Channel, or that singing show with Simon...

2. You’re out to eat; what kind of dressing does he get on his salad?
Ranch

3. What’s one food he doesn’t like?
Green peppers!

4. You go out to the bar. What does he order?
Miller Light

5. Where did he go to high school?
Crossland Senior High

6. What size shoe does he wear?
10.5

7. If he was to collect anything, what would it be?
Well... he has Harley stuff, he has trains, he has antique tools and lately
he's into radio controlled helicopters...
I don't think he's in the market for any new collections! (I HOPE!)

8. What is his favorite type of sandwich?
Oh boy! He loves them ALL! Probably a cold-cut sub! LTM!

9. What would this person eat every day if he could?
I'm thinking a cheeseburger - off the grill - not fast food.

10. What is his favorite cereal?
The only cereal I've ever known him to eat is Raisin Bran - but he doesn't eat cereal often.
(like twice in twenty years!)

11. What would he never wear?
(anything stylish...) Ummm.... a Sweatshirt, a turtle neck, a tie... he can't stand anything snug around his neck or his wrist. Just give him some jeans or Dickies and POCKET t-shirt or a flannel shirt and he's fine!

12. What is his favorite sports team?
He's NOT really into sports - he does occasionally watch the 'Skins play. He usually watches the Indy 500 - but that's not a team.

13. Who will he vote for?
Undecided at this point. Has issues with both candidates.

14. Who is his best friend?
Should be ME, huh? ... I'll say Ed!

15. What is something you do that he wishes you wouldn’t do?
Spend money... among other things...

16. How many states has he lived in?
One. He was BORN in Pennsylvania - but he never lived there!

17. What is his heritage?
Is West Virginia Hillbilly and Pennsylvania Redneck HERITAGE???
LOL! Waaaaaaaay back it was probably German!

18. You bake him a cake for his birthday; what kind of cake?
Cheese cake! ( or brownies...) (or anything sweet!)

19. Did he play sports in high school?
He threw Shot for one season I think...

20. What could he spend hours doing?
Just puttering in his garage... he does wood work, works on the tractors or the Harleys, flies his little helicopter... OR he watches television!

That was fun!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I found THIS little test over at Gattina's yesterday...
Had to try it out, of course!
Your Blogging Type is Artistic and Passionate
You see your blog as the ultimate personal expression - and work hard to make it great.
One moment you may be working on a new dramatic design for your blog...
And the next, you're passionately writing about your pet causes.
Your blog is very important - and you're careful about who you share it with.
Hmmmm... I think this is mostly accurate!
I don't tend to work as much on how my blog looks...
once I get something I like I kinda stick with it for the
most part... but it is important that it reflects ME.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Soooooo... My Krysti is in Pennsylvania this weekend with the Debate Team! She's never done debate before -- her High School didn't offer debate - they had Mock Trial instead. She DID Mock Trial - and LOVED it! But she's always wanted to try Debate - and Mary Washington apparently has a very good team! So, this being her first year, she is a novice... but she is a very hard worker and she and her partner have been burning the midnight oil getting ready for this weekend! It began on Friday and she was so sad because they lost both of their first two debates. But Saturday went MUCH better and they WON 3 out of 4!!! That put them at 3-3. She was not sure that was going to be good enough to send them on to the next round - but they got word around 9 o'clock last night that they DO move on! So she will be debating again today, and this is the final day of this meet or match or whatever debates go by! If you're inclined, you could say a wee little prayer for her success! You know I have...

Tomorrow I will post my FINAL adventure with Ella. Then she will be packing her trunk and moving on her way... Stay tuned!

Maryland Crabs... Photo Hunt... Wordzzle... and stuff...

You may not know it, but Maryland's logo is... Maryland Is For Crabs. You know... the whole Chesapeake Bay thing, and the Maryland Blue Crabs... I've always thought it was a stupid logo - but the fact is, it is ours! What are ya gonna do?

Well, for ONE, you eat a LOT of crabs when you live in Maryland! I LOVE crabs! Most folks who were born here I believe grow up LOVING crabs. But maybe not
this kind so much...

This is Einstein.
He's VERY smart!
He's a great problem solver!

And this is Darwin!
Aren't they CUTE?

After Luz got her little crabbies, I enjoyed watching them so much that I decided I wanted some of my own again! So the next day I went and bought Einstein & Darwin. And Amanda bought Luz a 3rd one too because she had a mommy one, and a baby gee-al one, and they obviously needed a daddy! Anyway ... I hated Einstein's shell -- I only bought him because he was the friskiest crab in the pen! I bought some other shells and tossed them in his little wire container and prayed he would find a new home! I won't go into the housing issues that we had over these critters... but suffice it to say that for the money spent they should probably own sea side condo's on the boardwalk! Anyway... when Amanda & Luz left, they took their trio home with them and I got to know my boyz a bit! The very next day, guess what Einstein did?

He found a new shell!
This is Born Again Einstein!
(much jazzier me thinks!)

By the end of the week I was having sO much fun watching them that when Amanda came back on Saturday I told her we needed to go crab shopping again! She said she wanted to get more too! This time I came home with...

Nettie - whom Luz named
because her shell looks like a net

And Sherman... just cuz!

And Dumbo - who we keep thinking is dead but he isn't!
( i think he may be molting or getting ready to molt...
the infamous "they" say that crabbies get very lethargic
during their molting time...)
He is NOT an intelligent one and may have a little
dain bramage... I'm not sure!

And then there was the Prodigal Son...
he ran away in the beach house
and didn't come back... oops!

So, for a brief time I was up to SIX crabbies!!! Their favorite thing was the deck chairs - which Born Again Einstein is playing on. Because the chairs are webby the crabs could climb all OVER them and would... for looooooong periods of time! After buying more crabs, a trip to Sea Shell City was in order! I had already been there and put a down payment on the first crab condo! But Amanda wanted to go see what she could find to create the perfect crab village for her crew! Sea Shell City is THE place to go when you are in need of shells and other hermit crab paraphenalia! She did her part for the betterment of crab villages! Again, she and Luz left - this time only having bought ONE more crab - such will power my daughter has! My poor little critters had to stay cooped up in their teeny little wire cage most of the time... but the Hernandez crabs were going home to MAJOR digs! Take a look!

LOL! MY crabs are going HERE for vacation!
(it's biggable!)

I want my crabs to have a 20 gallon aquarium - but WowMart only had 10 gallon ones! We already had a 10 gallon one at home, so mine are in IT temporarily until I get a 20. And for the moment they seem to be happy and fairly active. We'll SEE how long that lasts! What I do know is this...
Kitty is LOVING the VIEW from up there!!!
And THAT is my Saturday Photo Hunt!

The Wordzzle Challenge is hosted each week by Raven

I really wanted to do a large Wordzzle this week... but it's just been too busy! All I ever got around to was the mini challenge. The five words were: crocodile, special, sleep, droll, turn around

And my entry...

Satisfied and full, the lazy crocodile did one turn around, snuggled into his special comfy position, and with a droll grin drifted off to sleep.

Short, but sweet! NEXT week I'll play big!

//////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

It took me several hours yesterday -- but I was finally able to get ahold of the service department for the condo and get Mom's medicine located and overnighted. It wasn't anyone's fault -- the storm had knocked down some of their phone lines. I'd get ahold of one part of the company - but it was 47 blocks away from the other part and they couldn't forward me over because the lines were down! But we finally got it worked out. They should be here today and all will be fine!

Now... I really really wonder if God is thinking I am WAYYYYYY to addicted to blogging! I was reading Psalm 51 yesterday -- it's one of my favorites and I read it all the time ... but THIS time I read it and it LOOKED like this... (to me)

Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
BLOG out my transgressions.

??? Huh? *double take* ??? Oh NO! I did NOT just read that like that!!! ROFL! I hope God doesn't have a Blog! I would really hate it if He were blogging all my transgressions! I really DO hope He's BLOTTING them out instead!!!

Not A Skywatch... Friday Fill-Ins... and stuff!

NOT yesterday's sky for sure!
(but certainly one of the many gifts bestowed on me over
the past 3 weeks!)

1. Painting my kitchen, watching Ella travel and seeing what Luz finally decides to be for Halloween are some of the things I'm most looking forward to in October.

2. Sometimes I change my mind - and that's why I came home from the beach YESTERDAY!!!

3. ANYTHING can happen and that's why there is a saying, "never say never"!

4. When I'm down, I pray.

5. Now that I'm home again, in front of this computer is where you'll find me most often. The rest of the time I'll be living life so I can tell you about it! (what did I do for motivation before blogs??? LOL!)

6. A rainy day is good for naps and quiet reading and time spent blogging... but not if you're at the beach with a fidgety mother-in-law and no wifi!

7. And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to blessed rest, tomorrow my plans include creating an above average hermit crab abode, and Sunday, I want to go to MY church!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yea... so Mom & I returned even two days early! The rains came in - and BOY did they come! We arrived in Ocean City in a hurricane, and left in a NOT Tropical Storm! LOL! I loved the weatherman's description of that! It's a HUGE storm - but it's not tropical -- it's not even Sub-tropical... it's "extra-tropical" which translated means NOT tropical at all! Go figure! Whatever - the waves kept getting bigger, the beach was non-existent on our end... not so bad on the boardwalk end... IF I had been alone I would have LOVED to stay there and watch it -- but Mom was crawlin' out of her skin and I couldn't think of a THING to do with her! When you can't even walk the beach or the boardwalk, and all the INSIDE stuff has closed down... okay - well - sOMebody said I could have taken her to a movie - but we alllllllllll know about how much I would have enjoyed that... so no! So, I ran around to a couple of shops and picked up some things I'd been "thinking about"... and then packed up the house and headed home! And guess what I forgot? Give ya 3 guesses. Nope... got the beach chairs off the back porch... Nope... got all my chargers and cords... Nope... remembered to get the clothes out of the dryer.... Give up? I forgot Mom's "refill medicines"... the MAIN supply! The ones I use to restock her 7 day pill boxes! ALLLLLLLLLLLLL of her meds! OY! I'm going to have to call them in the morning and see if they can overnight express them to me -- if not, I'm going to have to drive 3 hours BACK up there and 3 hours BACK home again - in the STILL extra-tropical (NOT tropical) storm!!! Grrrrrrrrr! So... I'm not a terribly happy camper right now -- but I'm praying that they WILL be able to express them to me... and then I'll be fine! You can pray too if you'd like!
So, now I'm going to go work a little bit on my Bible Study -- I've missed the first 3 weeks of 1 & 2 Peter -- but my Monday group goes slow - so I'll probably be ahead of them by our meeting on Monday! LOL! I was actually supposed to be working on this at the beach - but when I got there I realized this was the ONE study I had left at home! Sometimes I'd forget my head .... good thing it's attached!
I will finish up some of my beach posts - but I have to get the photos transferred from the laptop to this computer - and I'm just not UP for that tonight! (besides... my zip drive is still packed in the car ... and it's pouring outside!)
I know, I know, I knOw!
I knOw I have internet capability and I've been absent... but the fact IS when THESE guys show up, life gets busy in a whole different way! A more RELAXING way! A more boring way as far as blogging goes -- because when Mathew & Carol come we sit around like we did when the kids were little and play games and cards and they drink beer and we just reeeeeelaaaaax and enjoy each other's company. But we do a LOT of that! Poor Amanda was actually BORED by us in the evenings! SHE doesn't like to play cards or games. She is action action action, go go go - and I can be that and totally ENJOY it! But when Mathew & Carol just want to kick back and relax I can do that too! And totally enjoy IT too!
We DID go to SunFest on Sunday though...
That was fun! It's OC's last hurrah of the Summer season. As of Monday they rolled up the streets and anything fun came to a screeching halt! Which gave us even more reason to just bundle up in sweats and watch the mercury drop! Today was actually the last day of even SUN for my 3 weeks! Tomorrow the rain is moving in and we will have rain through at least Sunday - which means the rest of my vacation - cuz I go home Saturday! I might actually go home Friday... we'll see! I love COLD at the beach. Sweats on the beach is just FINE with me... but rain kinda kills even the opportunity for walking the boardwalk... OR the beach for that matter!
We also had some good meals out together! This was taken
at Fager's yesterday. We had lunch there right before Amanda
& Luz headed home! Luz could not WAIT to get home!
She found out on Monday that it was the first day of FALL!
She has a million pairs of NEW Fall shoes that she has been
waiting and waiting and waaaaaaaiting to wear! That child is
ALL ABOUT her shoes! (have you heard this enough times yet?)
Today Carol's brother, Matt - who goes to school in Salisbury - came to visit. We went to Duffy's for lunch and then sat around and played games until they all left. Now it's just Mom & I again... ho hum... yea... we'll probably go home on Friday! LOL! NOW my battery is dieing again... and so I will publish and go back to the beach house! See ya tomorrow -- for sure!
Beach Games
First it was kites... now it's Paddle Ball!
The best fun is introducing Luz to new things!
Big this and look at her expressions!
Priceless!
Now... do tell me please...
WHAT is YOUR Princess's favorite toy???
Is it her dress up clothes?
Her baby dolls?
Her play kitchen?
OR...
Is it her CARS?
Luz is all about her cars!!!
This cracked me UP when she got MOM to get down on
the floor and play them with her!!! It is amazing what a
child can do!
And even on the beach... she loves her wheels!
Wordzzle... and Beachy Stuff...
Words for this week's 10-word challenge: budget, news, outer space, gargantuan, brass band, Purple Rose of Cairo, polar bears, insight, innovations, mute
I heard on the news the other night about that new "budget" dance club for poor blokes like me. They were having their grand opening Friday night and I stopped in. They had a great brass band playing... Purple Rose of Cairo & The Polar Bears! The trumpet player was awesome, and the trombone ... DUDE! The light show was like something from outer space... which was cool because the decor is all gallactic too. I ordered a Blue Moon and it came to me in a gargantuan space capsule with those flickering lights around it! Totally cosmic! The club is split into nine separate areas - each a different planet - and Saturn even has rings floating around it - what
great innovations! The owners have put a lot of thought into this and have some great insight! And the fact that there was NO cover charge left me mute! I think Planktyn Planet is going to be smashing success!
And for the mini challenge: investments, purring, death penalty, mercury, convalescent home
When our investments plummeted, the engine quit purring and the mercury climbed higher. It felt like a death penalty, but we had no choice... we would have to send the old clunker to a convalescent home for Ford Trucks.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

And some more random stuff from our adventures....

Chilly Beach!

Ella bowlin'...

Mom & Ella ride the tram up & down the boardwalk.

Lunch at Fish Tales... a fabulous little place on the Bay side!

These relaxing chairs help make Fish Tales the fabulous
little place it is!!!

A verrrrrrrry short beach!!!

Several of you have asked how much longer I have at the beach -- today begins my final week. Next Saturday we will be driving home... and I am going to MISS it here! The ocean really really does do something to my heart that just puts me at peace with the world! I've explained to your before how MUCH I feel God's presence in the Ocean... and when I am HERE and can see that huuuuuuge wide expanse I just feel surrounded by Him! Not that I'm not aware of Him in all of nature... but ... I don't know... the Ocean is just something else! This has been a GREAT vacation. (and it's not over yet!)

The weather is wreaking havoc for the SunFest -- and I feel really sorry for the town, because SunFest is the Last Hurrah ... the END of summer... and the BIG SALES when the Boardwalk merchants get rid of their inventory. Unfortunately the cooler temps have kept a great many people away this weekend, and the inventory is not disappearing quite the way they hoped. GOOD news for ME - because much is down now to 90% off!!! Usually it tops out at 75% off until like Sunday afternoon! I think soon they'll be GIVING stuff away! LOL!

My kiddo's arrive back here this afternoon so I doubt I'll be here for a few days... I'm scheduling a post for tomorrow... but then it will be a few days. I've got BIG plans though!!! Now... I'm off to read some Wordzzles!

Summer's Gone?

We woke up this morning to a very chilly very windy day ... and what the weatherman is calling Hurricane waves - minus the hurricane! But IF this post publishes, you will see from the pics that the ocean is NOT a friendly ocean today -- although it IS still a beautiful ocean!

The tide is very very high!
The "beach" is very small!

Mom & I sat down there and watched it for about an hour
this morning... until her teeth started chattering... despite
her blue hooded sweatshirt!
