Highlights of 2010 - Price Edition...

(*I started this post a long time ago, but I think I'm just going to post what I have now and add to it later. Story of my life, but oh well! Stay tuned...*)
Dear Jentri,
We can't believe you're almost 4! You have grown so much!! You are such a sweetheart, and such a great big sister. You started preschool this year, I can't believe it! You are my shy yet social butterfly. Highlights for you this year:

**Turning "fwee" and so excited to share a birthday cake, let alone a party with your sister. Always so willing to share, which makes life a bit easier on mom!
**You got to see "Tangled" and haven't stopped talking about it since. You want to be a "blondie" like Rapunzel. You will tell anyone the whole story of Rapunzel to anyone that asks, including the part about how "Mudder Goffel isn't really her mom. She was just pretending 'cuz she wants Rapunzel's hair."
**Your reaction to your new baby sister was so fun. You were so sweet and careful, and would be so helpful and let me know your thoughts on what her cries were trying to tell us. "I think she's hungry, Mommy" or "Livi needs a new diaper" You're always such a helper! I ask a lot of your 3-year-old self and you almost always say, "yeah, sure." or "ok, mommy."

**You're a picky eater like Daddy, that's for sure! You're SLOWLY starting to try new things. Your favorite foods right now are princess soup (chicken noodle in the shape of princesses), peanut butter, grilled cheese, raspberries, bananas, and "cheeseburgers with just ketchup." You're our chocolate milk girl. You LOVE chocolate milk.

**Your favorite toys to play with right now are definitely Barbies and doll houses. If dressups count they're probably top of the list. You told me once that you "just have to have the cute things." Hopefully that's not the most important thing on your list, but I'm OK with you being cute. :)

**You LOVED having your cousin Alli here this summer. You were instant best friends and had so much fun. You always love to play with cousins, but since she lives in NY it was a special treat. Especially since you were 4 mos. old the last time you saw her!

**I love your sweet smile and thoughtful nature. You're always so aware of others and love to make them laugh. I love that you stand up for your sisters, and you are almost always nice and helpful to them. I wish you could stay my baby forever, but as you always tell me, "I can't stop growing! I'm not your baby anymore!" Love you, sweet Jen.

Sassy Miss Emma,
My stubborn, almost 2 year old little sweetheart. You had a rough start to this year celebrating your first birthday in the hospital with pneumonia. No problems since then, thank goodness. You have also grown so so much this year! You are our feisty ball of fire, and we love you so much!
Highlights for you this year:

**It's been so fun to watch you grow and learn new things. You're talking more and more all the time, and your favorite phrases right now are, "me, I do" (I'll do it)
**Starting nursery: was a rough one in the beginning, but with the help of some patient teachers and your parents hovering over you for four months, you now love to go and you push mommy out the door to go to her "tass."

**Your favorite toys right now are barbies, puzzles, books, anything that Jentri is playing with, and your stuffed frog, "Bibbit."

**You threw your binky in the garbage like a big girl! We'd been asking you about it for a while, and finally you decided it was time. Mommy would have liked for you to have it a bit longer so she could get some sleep, but it turned out ok in the end and you willingly tell anyone who asks, "Beent ah bawbidge...beents ah babies." aka Binky's in the garbage, and binky's are for babies."

**You got to see your twinner cousin Ashlynn twice this year! It's so fun to watch you two 'talk' to each other and play together.

**You are a stinker but a sweetheart! You are definitely an independent soul. You want to do EVERYTHING by yourself. When you get mad, hurt, or sad you want to be left alone, but come for hugs later when you're ready. You love to make messes and explore new things. You're a good eater, and especially love string cheese, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese, apple juice, mac n cheese, and carrots with "wantz (ranch)." Did I mention cheese?

**Lately you and Jen have been keeping us entertained with your knock knock jokes. Your favorite one to tell: "knot knot." (knock knock)

"Who's there?"

"Bayoh." (Belle)

"Belle who?"

"Seeping Booty." (Sleeping Beauty)

Never gets old.... :) Love you, sweet Em.

'Lil Livi Lou,
Welcome to the world, little one! You were born May 24, 2010 at 6 lbs. 8 oz. 19" long. Even though you were born in May there was snow on the ground for your birth day! We are so excited to have you with us! Highlights for you this year:
**Cousin Evan was born just 7 weeks before you, and it's been so fun to watch you two! He's always been bigger than you, but now he's got you by at least 10 pounds! You've got some catching up to do, but that's ok. You're my petite one...
**From the get-go you have been a sweet, content, happy baby. So laid back and chill. Even your mad cry is so soft and sometimes hard to hear. Mommy hopes that attitude carries over into when you're a toddler! You're always smiling, even when you don't feel well.
**Took you on your first real road trip to Bear Lake. In December it was a little chilly, but we had fun! You were such a trooper! It's no fun being in your carseat for that long, especially when it takes 6 hours to get there! You were happy to get there and play in the snow with your sisters.
**You went swimming this summer at Grandma's...you didn't like it much, but she got you the cutest little swimsuit and we had to try it out.

Daddy Jake,
What can we say? We love you! You have had a busy year, as always! You're the best hubby/Daddy in the world! You always make things so fun, and even though your wife complains that you're too loud the girls love it and can't get enough of you!
Dear Self,
You are one crazy Mama! Life as you know it is a constant game of catch up, clean up, and let's not forget play. What a great time in your life. Don't forget how blessed you are. Sometimes you do, and that's ok as long as you remember again. Being a mom is hard work, but a worthwhile endeavor. It's not always easy to see the fruits of your labors, and it's easy to get discouraged if you let yourself. It's ok to ask for help sometimes. Be thankful for what you have and don't focus on the things you don't. Oh yeah, and here are a few highlights for you this year. Sorry to get off topic... :) :

lots of stuff...

So, the girls couldn't come with me to Seattle so I asked Jen if she wanted me to get her anything while I was gone. After thinking about it for a second she said "yeah, probably lots of stuff".

I was sure relieved when I arrived at the conference and found a room full of exhibits with "lots of stuff" for free. I'm not sure Jen was asking for a stuffed beaver with a hardhat but thats what you get for not specifying!

The Crab Pot

I am in Seattle for the 2010 Dam Safety conference (view from my hotel window to prove it), and I'm sick of everyone making fun of me for eating at McDonalds when I go out of town (like when I was in China)... so I decided to go with my co-worker Brandon to the Crab Pot. You may have seen this on Man vs. Food on the Travel Channel - I remember seeing it and thinking I would through up if some one dumped a bowl of seafood on my plate. Anyway.... I tried it and it turns out snow crab is delicious! The shrimp was equally delicious - but I could not bring myself to try the mussels.

You may notice that our cups in the upper right picture has the smallest diameter straws I have ever seen in a restaurant. I commented on that fact to the waitress, and she just laughed. I think they were left over capri-sun straws - Brandon suggested that it is their strategy to reduce the number of refills. When our waitress brought out our refills (bottom right picture) they were in pitchers with huge straws. She earned her tip.

Pics of My Favorite Girls

I consider myself a picture taker. Not a photographer by any means, but a picture taker. It's the best way to preserve memories and happenings of life. They have always brought my heart joy, as evidenced by the over 20, 000 pics I've got on my computer, (that's an actual number, not an exaggeration) not to mention the boxes and boxes of pictures I keep telling myself I'm going to scan and/or scrapbook one day.

Anyway, my friend Emily from high school is not only one of my favorite people out there, but she is a photographer. Not just a picture taker, a PHOTOGRAPHER! She did an AMAZING job photographing my kids, and I will be eternally grateful for her talents and abilities!!! All of the pictures here and all over the blog were taken by her, and here are the links to her sites so y'all can check out her work! You should hire her for sure!!

A few favorites... So hard to narrow it down!!

This last one is my all time favorite! Where did you come from, you beautiful thing!?! Love these girls!

One Month Old...

Our Little Livi Lou is already a month old! I can't believe it! Here's what we know about you so far, sweet Liv:

*You don't sleep for very long on your own. You like to be held or laying next to mommy. Although, you do sleep pretty well in your bouncer. Still not for all that long. Evidence that you really are a newborn. :)

* You have the darkest and the most hair out of all the Price girls. We're anxious to see if it'll stay that dark.
*You're a sleepy eater like Jentri was, but usually a good diaper change is all you need to wake up and finish eating.

*Daddy has started calling you "Livi Lou," and it seems to stick. A nickname already!

*You still have a pretty soft cry, but are getting more & more vocal...especially when you're hungry. I think you got that from your mama. :)

*You make a funny face when your sisters give you loves, but are otherwise undisturbed. I even caught you smiling at Jen the other day. She especially likes to lay by you face to face and hold your hand. You don't seem to mind one bit.

*Mommy could stare at your sweet face for hours. Not to mention your tiny fingers & toes. So sweet! (You make lots of cute faces when you sleep.)

*Everywhere we go the comments are the same: "She's so tiny!" and "Look at that hair!"
*You are such a calm, sweet, chill babe, and we are sure glad you're here. We sure love you! It's been a happy month!

My take on things...

Is it just me or does time go by faster with each kid you have!?! Sheesh! Olivia will be a month old next week! Crazy! Anyway, I thought I'd take a few minutes and post a little something. I wish I had time and energy to be my wordy self tonight, but I just don't think I can do it! (I know you're so disappointed :)) There's just something about getting some sleep that just seems really appealing at the moment! Go figure...

But I do want to say that things with Olivia are going well, and it seems like she's always been here with us. I'm not gonna lie, all of us are still adjusting, but I think for the most part we're adjusting well. :) It's been tough to find a balance of how much attention I can give to each of them, but I'm told that will come with time. If that even makes any sense at all!
My girls definitely love their little sister, and are so cute to give her plenty of hugs and kisses. Emma really wasn't going to have anything to do with this new intruder at first, but now is right there with Jen to give her loves. Jentri especially likes to hold Livi's hand, and if I have a onesie on her with the hand covers, she has to dig for her little fingers until she can hold her hand. Pretty cute. Emma likes to give Livi "hugs" which usually consist of a mild head butt and Emma saying, "awww." So nice of her! She also loves to give her very wet kisses, which again is nice...and wet. :) I have confidence that she's learning the meaning of the words "be soft" (I have my fingers crossed!). No major mishaps yet, so that's good. They both love to help finding diapers and wipes, and Jen especially will remind me to grab a burp cloth before feeding Livi. So sweet!

I really do feel blessed to have these beautiful girls in my life. I like to complain a lot that we didn't plan to have our kids so close together, but I really am grateful that I can be their Mommy. It brings me so much joy and I wouldn't trade it for anything! How can you not just
instantly LOVE those sweet faces?!! One thing's for sure, I'm one lucky Mama!

More to come...but for now, I'm going to bed! Happy Wednesday!

Olivia Jayne Price

It was another close call, but this time we got to the hospital in time for an epideral for Kate ... barely. We arrived at the hospital at around 8:00 AM on Monday, May 24th (the same day as her aunt Aly!) and Olivia Jayne was born at 8:49 AM. 6 lbs 8 oz, 19 inches long.

Kate will probably post more details and pictures later (like how Emma isn't too sure about having a baby sister and tries to push her away every time we try to get them together)... but for now you can enjoy these pictures

It's my birthday and I'll cry if I want to!

Olivia Jayne Price

Notice how Kate got up, showered, did her hair and then told me she was going into labor...
so she looks amazing in her picture but I've got hat hair.

Kate looks amazing! (Olivia's pretty cute too!)

Today's the day...

Today's the day I'm going to update this thing if it kills me! Every time I sit down and attempt to update the blog, I just never seem to have enough time to put everything I want to on here. So here is the "short" version of what we've been up to lately. Of which I hope to add to later for my detail documenting. :)

*It's been a busy and sickly couple of months, if I had to sum it up in a couple of words. We just can't seem to stay healthy for long at our house these days. Most have heard the story, but Emma celebrated her birthday (end of January) in the hospital with pneumonia. Here she is in her "cage" as I liked to call it. When the nurse offered a crib for her, I saw her bringing this down and I thought, "poor kid who has to be in that thing." Then she wheeled it into our room. Ah well. I suppose the hospital isn't supposed to have the comforts of home, but this isn't what I pictured when she said "crib." Kinda funny...anyway, you can see all her cords and tethers that were no fun but made her better. She did look cute in her gown, but obviously not the most ideal situation.
**She's doing fine now except she can't seem to shake these darn ear infections. She's had 3 in the last month and a half...a double one this last week. I'm getting really good at detecting them, if I do say so myself, but I'd much rather spend my time outside the doctor's office. Call me picky. :) You know it's bad when the nurse says, "back again, are ya?" She's on her 3rd round of antibiotics since her hospital stay, and this last one we discovered her allergy to penicillin. Poor little thing has been through the ringer! She still is so happy and loves to play, and is still my feisty little girl! She's usually the one to have Jentri crying and holding wherever Emma just hit her or pulled her hair. Definitely need to work on that. She's getting more and more brave when it comes to walking, and her vocabulary consists of "Hi," "Mama," and "Arf" which she says over and over again whenever a puppy is in view.

**We finally were able to celebrate Emma's birthday when it was time to celebrate Jen's. She wanted a Cinderella birthday, and was really excited to share her party with Emma. My babies are getting so big! I can't believe Jentri is 3, and I really can't believe Emma is 1 already. They grow up too fast! These two are so much fun. They keep me so busy I can't even think straight most of the time, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. My favorite sound in the world is hearing them laugh and giggle and play from the next room. Can't beat that! Oh yeah, short version...moving on. :)

I think Jake is going to quit his job as an engineer and become a full-time cake decorator, what d'ya think? :) He did a good job. We were running short on time so he took over and voila! He even wrote their names on the side of the cake. My creative hubby...gotta love him. :) Here is Emma enjoying her cake...

BEFORE...

DURING....

AFTER...

So nice of her to share with her sister. Jen thought her "messy handshake" was pretty funny. Life's simple pleasures...

As for the rest of us, we're staying busy as usual. Jake's got two weeks left of his final semester, and will have his thesis finished hopefully by the end of the summer. Hallelujah! Light at the end of the tunnel for me! Oh yeah, and him too I guess. :)

Jentri tells me just about every day that she "just wants her other sister to come." I've tried to explain that she's not done growing yet, but she's in that "Why?" stage and I just don't have all the answers, sorry Jen. :) We are getting down to the wire with just 8 weeks left, which has left me both nervous and excited. This pregnancy has definitely gone by fast, and I don't think it's really completely hit home that we will have 3 kids before we know it. People have asked if I'm ready for 3. Hmm. No, I don't think I am nor will I really ever consider myself ready, but as a wise 3 year old once told me, "Ready or not, here I come!" How true that is. :) Seriously though, I am feeling now more than ever, (maybe it's just taken this long :)) that this babe is supposed to be here and I'm so excited to add to our family.
There are about a million more pics and stories I want to post, but I'd better quit while I'm ahead. Naptime is only so long for my girls. :) I hope all is well with all of you! For some it's been a while but I do check blogs and such on occasion and try to see what ya'll are up to. Anyway...more to come!

It's A.....

GIRL!!!!

We were convinced it was a boy this time, but are super excited for another girl! That's all we seem to know how to make in my family. This will bring the total to 11 girls and 2 boys for my parents' grandbabies. Crazy! Girls are definitely fun, and as Jen said today, "Yay, TWO Emma's!" Give it up for Emma #2! ;)

It's still so amazing to me the miracle of having kids. Seriously! There's this little person in there with all its fingers and toes, moving around inside me. You'd think after 3 pregnancies I'd be used to it, but I just can't get over it! I feel so lucky.

Anyway, pictures to follow...sorry! Happy Wednesday!
