Whitney

Whitney really wanted a Ice Cream cake for her Birthday. I don't like ice cream but for her Birthday I thought I should have a piece on her special day. I thought it was actually pretty good. ( But not good enough for me to actually go out for a ice cream.. when we go out for ice cream I always order french fries or Fried Zucchini)
Okay??? See the side of Whitney's cake? you see we have one of those side by side refrigerators and the freezer door is super skinny. The Ice cream cake box would not slide in flat so I had to slip it in sideways diagionally...I figured it was okay because it was frozen. But I was wrong when I took it out of the freezer it was squinched up against the side of the box! we can't ever buy one of those Large Frozen Pizza's because they would never fit even out of the box. Who ever invented the side by side needs to rethink the size of the freezer!
Squished cake or not Whit~Bit was a HaPpY 10 year old!

SO and the answer to my last post on Whitney's Big day???

What was it you ask???? well........ lets see if you can figure it out.....

BEFORE........

AFTER.........
Yup! she got her braces off today!!!
she had her impressions done today for her retainer that she will get in 10 days...she picked out a PINK & PURPLE swirl with sparkles. They told her that she could have what ever design she wants and could even bring in a picture of her Pugs and have them on her retainer, amazing to think that they can scan a picture onto retainers...funny!
So this was a big day for Whit~Bit..she was so excited to get her braces on, but could not wait for today to come that last month anticipating getting her braces off! Now she is counting down the days for her retainer~

Dessert anyone?

Today we ran over to the lake to clean up our place a bit... we have had some crazy heavy rain storms here the past few days and today was the best day so far so we headed over to clean up all the twigs and mess the rain left behind. On the way home we stopped at a Farm stand and bought some Huge Strawberries and rhubarb( I wish I took a picture of how large they were). I found a recipe for Diabetic Strawberry Rhubarb crisp.. ( no pies...trying to stay low carb too! so no crust!)

Can

Can't forget the Sugar free Ice Cream! ( not for me...as you may remember I HATE ice~cream! )
Bradley and Whitney love their Ice~Cream

Ingredients
1 cup sliced strawberries

1 cup diced rhubarb

7 Tsp splenda1 cup rolled

/2 cup flour

5 tsp brown sugar blend splenda

I can't believe it's not butter lite melted

Directions
Put strawberries and rhubarb in baking dish with a dusting of flour and the regular splenda. Mix oats with rest of flour and melted I can't believe it's not butter. Put over berries and rhubarb and bake at 375* for 40 minutes.

Well.... we submitted a letter to the Superintendent regarding Tori's Dress issue...I will let you know what comes out of it....we may not hear anything but if there is an issue in the future with another student I do hope the parents submit a letter like we did then maybe they will pull out our letter and do something about it....we talked to Tori about it and she is upset about the whole thing but wishes to keep the situation "LOW" she just wants to put it behind her and leave that behind with the school she will no longer be attending (( Gasp...My Daughter is starting High School in the fall!!!.)) So we just went with a Letter rather than make Tori more upset. Hopefully her new school will be more positive for her.
On another note......Something BIG is about to happen to Whitney tomorrow at 12:30 pm... any ideas????

Birthday party!

10 Years ago today had a Dr. appointment for my regular prenatal appointments, I never knew things were all going to change with in my 20 minute appointment. During my exam my Dr felt the need to have me undergo a stress test.....come to find out her suspicion was correct...I was in the early phase of Labor. I was not due for another 2-3 weeks so she suggested I go to the hospital to have a amniocentesis to make sure the Whitney's lungs are fully developed... ( that was fun! ( NOT ) as the test confirmed her lungs were completely complete and was healthy enough to be born......... I called Bradley at work when I was admitted at 1:00 in the afternoon for him to go home and take a shower and to grab me some things. ( remember I went into labor early and didn;t have my hospital bag packed just yet) My labor was slow....very slow but the hospital was too far away to send me back home so they kept me there.... about 9pm the Dr. Broke my water to speed things up a bit and gave me a dose of pitocin( yikes! pitocin just saying that word gives me chills...ugh) That did the trick but made my labor intense and painfull. Finally after nearly 20 hours of labor at 7:27 am June 23rd I give birth to Whitney upside down !!!!( she was born face up) her her nape of her head fractured my tail bone ( didn't know this until after...I just thought it was really bad back labor) Her cord was wrapped around her neck so tight they whisked her way with out letting Bradley cut the cord like he did with Tori.... She pulled through okay after the cut it and she gave a Big Cry and weighed in at 6 lb 12 oz. She had a thick Black head of hair and big chubby cheeks...... and to think this all happened 10 years ago seems more like yesterday. As I sat in my bed holding her talking to Bradley about what what will she look like when she is 5? who will she be friends with? What her bad habits will be, favorite food.... so on and so forth...

Well this is what she looks like today...... showing off her "nails" she got to have done for her birthday.and her bad habits are....not completely drying off when she takes a shower and leaves a trail of water from the bathroom to her bedroom....

* She has alot of wonderful friends and her VERY VERY BEST FRIEND shares the very same Birthday as Whitney but was born in the Morning and Her friend was born at night... ( so Whitney considers herself the older one lol)
* Her favorite food is Pepperoni Pizza and Chicken fingers....
* She Got High Honors all school year....
* She was nominated as a role model for her school this year......
* played the clarinet in the school band....

Now on with the Party!!!!!!!!!

We had so much fun last year at Tip Top Pottery we decided to go back again this year!

Whitney is all into the girly Skull cross bone thing this year so I found these at Birthday express for her Birthday party...
the counter is a college of squares of ceramic paintings from customers....

4 of the girls Whitney invited couldn;t make it due to Graduation ( Graduation was the same night as her Party) but 3 of her close friends made it and Tori and her friend Alyssa filled in the gaps..

Tori washing off her brushes.......
Whitney painting her Dog patiently...

While the girls painted their peices Bradley and I had dinner at the Tip Top Cafe across the hall...Click here
Brad Got this I can't remember what it was....all I knew it was totally off his Diet!!! but he has done so well....this was a treat for him..... but he liked mine better so we swapped half way though....
I got Summer Squash and Bacon Risotto
The Birthday Girl.........

The girls all ready to head to the Ice Cream shoppe..........

Whitney and "R" enjoying some ice cream........

Tori and her Best friend Alyssa...... ( next door to the ice cream shoppe there is a store that sells sunglasses.....Tori and Alyssa bought their sunglasses while the the others had ice cream) Whitney and her friends...... Tori and Alyssa.....
Tori......

Whitney was bummed that her other friends couldn't make it but in the end she had a great time.... she got alot of nice gifts...
from us she got a RIPSTICK and a Digital camera......

Thank you! and Belle gave me a scare!!

Oh do I feel so much better now that I shared this. I almost didn't I sat on the idea all week and decided I really needed to just to see what others thought. I thought the whole thing was pretty asinine myself! I know of a few other parents who's children attend the same school has had issues as well. I find it baffling that they don't have the same consequence for students who misbehave, skip out on class, wear inappropriate clothing, back talk... I believe they should handles such situations the same way depending on the situations.... Good grief! and also it really ticks me off that the school is so involved with Self Esteem, peer pressure and Bulling and helping students obtain their goals they are working towards....... I am feeling like My daughter was Bullied by the staff and then they took away her Goal of succeeding...What does that do to her self esteem???? okay...moving on before I Blow my top.....thinking about walking in that school today getting my Daughters Year Book and checking in to see why no one has returned my calls.... wish me Luck!

so anyway.......

you know how the Pugs like to sit on top of the back of the sofa to look out the window? well yesterday I left for work (just for a couple hours) then ran errands around town. I drove past our house to go up to See what Bradley had planned for his lunch hour...as I drove past our home I notice Belle behind the sofa!!!! I pull a U-E and drive in the yard and see Belle squished up against the Window stuck behind the window panting like I have never seen before.... I didn;t even shut my car door I ran in the house as fast as I could and pulled her up and out...it was SOOOO HOT! the morning sun is so hot and beams in out living room window and it makes it so hot inside so I bought curtains to keep the hot sun out. she was trapped in behind the sofa and curtain where it was megga hot! I ran her into the bathroom and put her in the Tub and turned on the shower to cool her off...her tongue was purple and all dry. I called the vet to see what else I should do to cool her off...they said it sounds like she has Heat Exhaustion and to keep her in a tepid bath and offer her cold water to drink and apply a ice pack to her head... she was panting so hard I thought she was going to die. I was so scared for her. she was so hot. so once I took her out of the shower I draped a damp towel on her as she laid flat on the cool floor. she didn't budge... I gave her water and just let her relax and calm down... after a 20 minutes her tongue turned back to Pink and felt like a sponge again....and she bounced back and her panting stopped..... Man.. should you imagine if I worked all day? Brad rarely comes home for lunch so she would of been there all day! It could of been a really bad turn out if I didn't come home when I did... it was like a Dog shut in a car with out windows open on a hot day those curtains I bought really trap the heat in when they are closed....sigh...so glad she is okay. SO now I am thinking of changing our living room around to keep the window area open with a bench they can hop up on to look outside...so today before I left for work I pulled the sofa away from the window so just incase one of them fell behind they would be able to get out. Belle nearly gave me a heart attack!

Okay Folks.... Now the reasoning for all your help

First off...THANK YOU for all your input and comments. really THANK YOU. Reading all your comments and emails regarding her outfit made me realize she is dressed appropriate, She is a teenager and tests the waters on certain outfits and such...but she does have morals and is not one to show off her "BODY" she is just a girl who likes to keep up with the styles. She came to me last Monday morning before school asking if the outfit she had on was okay for school. I did the 2 finger test on the straps and she passes with flying colors... I usually take notice of what she wears for school. ( I also notice what other girls wear too... (eyeroll) so Monday Morning I dropped her off in front of the school before the morning bell and saw her off.... not 20 minutes later I get a phone call from Tori in tears telling me I need to come pick her up~ I asked why? she said They expelled me for the rest of the school year because of my top. ( excuse me while I pick my jaw off the floor!) I said...this is a joke right? she said, NO! Mom they are serious. They are sending me home. I told her to hang tight as I told her that she said...Mom!<>
Me- Hello? I just got a phone call from Tori, What is going on?
Principal- I was out on Bus wait this morning, 2 students came up to me and said, How come Tori can wear tanks and we can't? so I brought it to Mrs. S and Mrs D. to deal with the situation because I don;t deal with the dress Code. so Mrs. S pulled Tori out and we obversed she was dressed extremely inappropriately!
Me- Huh, I did the 2 finger test and the test book says there is a 2 finger rule, and it passed? Tori feels like she is being singled out when there are many others wearing tanks
Principal- You know...Tori needs to worry about herself and not what others are wearing.
Me- said..oh, okay. ( as I could feel my blood boil) so the 2 students that came up to you on Bus wait? Did you tell them to worry about themselves and not what Tori was wearing? ( again, this is out of my league, I usually don't speak up like that but I felt I needed to back my daughter up on this)
Principal- told me to take this matter up with the Assistant Principal. Mrs. S... sigh......
so ya there you have it...My daughter was expelled from school for the rest of the year. ( 8 days!) for that outfit.....
so while Tori waits for me to arrive to pick her up at her school she keeps calling me... when I answered she was hystericle! not in a bad way but in a very happy way. I said what is going on? she said MOM! YOU KNOW 'J' THE SUPERINTENDENT OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM? WELL SHE WAS WALKING INTO THE SCHOOL AND NOTICED MY ART WORK I WAS HOLDING AND SHE COMMENTED ON HOW GOOD I DID ON IT AND SHE SAID, OH ARE YOU GOING HOME SICK? I SAID NO...THE SCHOOL EXPELLED ME FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR FOR MY OUTFIT, AND SHE SAID OH..I DIDN'T NOTICE YOUR OUTFIT AT ALL. YOU LOOK LIKE NICE..... Tori laughed and thought that was funny that the superindent of the school system thought she looked nice!!!!!
what about the girls who wear. "JUICY" on the ass of their shorts, gym pants? or the kid wearing a POT leaf on his shirt? or all the Gothic students with the Black makeup and facial piercings??? Oh and yesterday when I went to "TRY" to get Tori's year Book? there was a girl wearing a mini ( I mean MINI ) skirt with a spaghetti strap tank top with her Bra showing!!! in the office getting lunch money from her Mother!! WHAT??? and no one said a WORD!!!! ( Believe me I wanted to!!) The kicker.... not only did Tori get expelled from school...she was not able to attend the 8th Grade formal dance last Friday, she is not able to attend the 8th Grade Graduation Tomorrow night, and also had her 8th Grade Boston Trip taken away!!!!! There are students who have been suspended more times than they have fingers and toes through out the year who still get to take part in all the 8th Grade celebrations....Tori never got suspended! she has had a few detentions here and there for stupid little things but for her to have everything taken away? and expelled for wearing a "" INNOPROPIATE"" outfit that I found was appropriate going by the student handbook baffling! Oh...and this all happened the same day her Kitty died! Poor kid.... so I have been playing phone tag with the school and guidance counselors......I am not letting this go!

so we decided to write a letter to the Superintendent about this matter and how we believe it should of been handled differently....Maybe it was inappropriate to some???, but the punishment she recieved is a bit harsh!

also....when I talked with the Assistant principal, I told her that is is very unfair for Tori to miss out on her Graduation..
She told me that Tori can earn back her graduation by doing 10 hours of community service!!!!! WHAT???? No way I said! Tori earned her Graduation by completing 8th Grade and is moving onto the high-school. so No 10 hours of Community service! then was told than no she is not to attend the graduation with her class she can sit in the audience!!!! Pfft I don;t think so... This is really getting messed up! THANK GOODNESS SHE IS NO LONGER GOING TO THAT SCHOOL!!! she will be in a different school for High School. I hope they change their ways when it is Whitney's time to attend there....... sighhhh

Humid and Hot Hot Hot! and a sad goodbye

Summer is here finally !!!! It h as been in the nineties the past few days and I am Loving it! It was a loooong winter. NO complaining of the heat here! Bring it On! We spent the whole weekend at the lake. It was my first trip down to the beach this year and I made the best of it and got a little bit of a burn. Nothing too bad just next time I will be more careful with applying the SPF more often.......This has been a rough year at the camp with Tori. She is at that age where Camping is "BORING" So each time we go she brings along a friend to help take the boredom off. Which is fine I like all of her friends so having them tag along is no problem....

Tori and Alyssa test the water before the get in....

It was so warm we spent the whole day on Saturday at the beach...
Me catching up on my PEOPLE magazine.......... I never knew anyone took this picture until I uploaded my card......

Whitney and Alyssa roasting marshmallows and Hotdogs........

Turbo LOVES the camp fire he will sit with anyone who is sitting near the fire.....and will sniff for a hotdog that fell off the stick....... I love my Big Daddy.............
Whitney hates the black skin on the hotdog from roasting it on the fire....she peels off the black skin and O.M. Turbo sniffs for them and eats them all up!
Oh and BTW...You wont see Turbo in her DOGGLES...He HATES them and walks backwards in them and shakes them off.....so No Doggle pictures I can't get him to keep them on long enough to even get a pciture!

well........ some of you may remember Tori recieved a kitty from a friend back a few weeks ago. The kitty was born from a stray that they took in and they didn;t know it was pregnant until after...... anyway...Today was Sophie's vet appointment for her first check up and they said she looked great! They asked if we wanted to test for Feline Leukemia and F.I.V ( Feline Aids) never ever heard of that before... so I agreed to have the tests done due to other animals in the house. As she checked Sophie over and trimmed "her" nails and then took "her" out back to draw her Blood for the 2 tests. The Vet came back in and said...." well we have an issue" Tori and I looked at each-other and panicked for a minute... The vet said. well you may want to change the name. Sophie is a Male! Tori and I laughed so hard we had tears in our eyes. we had no idea! I guess I had no clue what I was looking for....in fact she was a he... we laughed and Tori was shocked and was trying to think of a new name for Sophie... as we chuckled and smiled The vet returned and our tears of Joy turned to tears of sorrow.....We just learned that Sophie tested positive for F.I.V Feline aids.... I had no time to react...Tori instantly broke down into a hard loud cry..she curled up in the chair and sobbed.... The vet somewhat gave us a brief update on FIV but it was like listening to her under water. I kept looking at Tori trying to be strong for her... The vet said that the best thing is to Euthanize him due to us having Alex ( our other Cat) at home. FIV can be passed onto other Cats... The vet said if Sophie was our only Cat she would be alright with special food and meds. But will also develop Bladder, upper respitory and kidney infections. in time. As hard as it was we agreed that this was for the best. Tori being a strong young lady was so strong trying so hard to under stand what was going on. She say a little kitten who needed a home, did all she could to be a good kitty owner and bought kitty toys with her own money, and even cleaned the litter box... she even had some of her money in her pocket to help pay for the vet bill and was just now being told her little kitty was sick and needed to be in a better place.....sighh Do you know how hard that was for me to watch her? UGH... The vet gave Tori all the time she wanted with Sophie...Tori held "him" and cried and kissed him and then got up gave me Sophie and ran out of the vet....here I am all alone in the room with Sophie trying to take it all in...it was just thrown on us so fast with no idea this was going to happen. we were just bringing her ( him sorry I still call Sophie a her) to the vet for it's fist check up with all intentions of returning home with him. The Dr. came back in the room and we talked as I cried ( Seeing Tori so upset KILLED me.) The vet asked if Tori would like Sophie's paw print in cement and her ashes. I said Tori would Love that as I handed The Dr. Sophie and walked away....... one of the nurse came in and gave me a hug telling me I had one Strong Daughter. She spent time with Tori out in the parking lot consoling while I was in with the Dr.
When we came home we called the woman who's cat who had the litter of kittens and told her about FIV and she never heard of it either....so she is making a appointment. She didn't know.
The cat was a stray and I am not sure what she did about vetting ater she decided on keeping the cat when she found it......sigh.
So breaking the news To Whitney was no picnic...she spent every minute with that kitten that Tori allowed...... she took it tough as well...... Tori said Mom. I don't think I want another pet again. That is too hard to have to deal with ever again. So now......Where does Alex sand???? He has to wait a good 8 weeks before being tested to have a accurate test. But if Alex does have it we are able to keep him since he is a indoor cat and can't pass it onto another cat. Dogs can't get it. only Felines can. Thank God other wise I would be a train wreck right about now....... so lets keep our fingers and paws crossed for AL ex.

Good Bye Sophie........ you were only with us a short time but we will all miss you........ and Sorry we thought you were a girl this whole time with us. Tori keeps your pink collar near and you will always be in her heart...

Today was a tough day...in time you will bring Tori's tears into smiles of fond memories.
