Erin Lou Who and "E!"

I tried this hairdo for the first time a couple of weeks ago, but didn't get a picture. I really hope she doesn't lose all this cute hair, but I'd better have fun with it now just in case.

This is Ben's new favorite game. He calls it "E" with much excitement. He's quite the alphabet whiz and was so excited when I showed him how to type the letters. I took some video, but I need to cut it down before I post it.

Pardon my Blurping...

I just have a few pictures and updates, but nothing really significant or related. So here are a few blurps:I found this picture of Erin when she was 1 week and had to post it. Her head was the same size as my fist!
She's getting big now. I need to take pictures, but both kids have colds right now and aren't really in the picture taking mood.

Hi cute boys!

This one takes some explaining. Notice the green dinosaur at the bottom of the picture. It's one of those dinos that walks and roars. Ben likes to pretend to be scared and run from it. On this occasion he decided to build a pillow fort, using a walker for reinforcement and used the shape sorter as a helmet. Ready for battle! I don't have any idea where he gets this stuff, but it cracks us up!

And as for our wall, we're making progress. Okay, let's be honest, I don't have much to do with it. But Brandon has been working on it on the weekends and it's almost fixed. Just texturing and painting left. Hopefully we can wrap it up this weekend.

Oh the JOYS of homeownership

Friday I noticed a funny looking spot in the texture under a cabinet on our kitchen wall. I reach out to feel it to see if it's just some sticky splatter and the wall SINKS IN! Not a good sign. I continue feeling around the area, trying to comprehend, and more places sink in. I'm now making craters all over the wall and decide I'd better leave alone until Brandon gets home. After I show him the damage we start trying to think of the source of water leakage. Our master bath is right above, but there's no damage near the ceiling. We start looking in the cabinet to see if there's any water in there. We then notice a screw in direct line with the main damage. Brandon looks up pictures we took of the wall before it was dry walled. The drain from our bath runs right along there and the cabinet installer screwed right into it! We take down the cabinet and behind it is a sheet of mold.

This thing had been leaking for almost a year and a half, but the cabinet was sealing it mostly in place. When we cut into the drywall we find that he screwed not once, but twice into the pipe. So, one hole was semi plugged by the screw, but the second was draining freely into the wall. Brandon patched the pipe and sprayed bleach on anything he couldn't pull out. We're now waiting for it to dry out so we can put our wall back together. If anyone has some drywall scraps we could sure use them!Ben was so concerned about something being wrong with his house. At first he kept telling us to get a towel to wash the mess. Now he just tells me that Daddy made the wall messy and needs to fix it. He likes things just so, and this is definitely messing with him.

That's my Ben

This is Ben's fleet. He takes them from couch to couch, cushion to cushion, and on occasion to the table. The funniest part is that he has to purposefully line them up in order everywhere they go. It doesn't seem to be the same order every time, so I haven't figured out the method behind the madness yet. But he sure seems to know what he's doing. If there's something missing as he lines them up he knows exactly what it is and it has to be found before he can finish and move to the next site.
I sure love this boy!

Erin Felicity

It's hard to get good pictures of a newborn, but that doesn't stop me from trying!Check out that hair! She's giving me the stink eye for giving her a bath. The rest of these are from New Year's Eve. We had both of our parents here playing games and when we finished Erin was wide awake. So, we started a little photo shoot on the table. With 3 cameras going I think she was a little dazed.
These are just Sunday afternoon fun. She wasn't nearly as amused by the Mohawk as I was.

And how cute is this? Ben is such a sweet brother.

A New Year, A New Blog

First of all, happy 2009! I've finally decided to switch over to a blog instead my MSN space. I'll leave the old stuff up, so if you ever wonder what we were doing before 2009 you can check it out. Now, on with current events. Of course the biggest thing going on was the birth of our little girl. Erin was born December 7th. She was a little more than 3 weeks early and only weighed 5 pounds! Fortunately she is perfectly healthy and gaining weight fast. She has LOTS of dark hair and super long fingers. She's a pretty good baby, but she doesn't let mom get a lot of sleep. (When you're trying to gain weight you have to eat a lot!) We absolutely love her. She's so adorable. Ben has adjusted well. He likes to make sure she has a bow in her hair and is always telling me she has a dirty diaper that I need to change, which is usually true. He's such a big helper.

We had a great Christmas. Nana and Papa came to watch Ben open presents. When we brought him downstairs he was so excited to see them that he ran right past the tree (with Tonka's in plain sight) and into the kitchen to do his happy dance. It took a few minutes to bring him back to look under the tree. He was so cute. It's much more fun now that he understands what presents are and can open them. All the grandparents spoiled us too, and I'm not just talking about the kids!

Oh, and Happy Birthday to Brandon on Christmas Eve. We had a fun brunch with my family. Both of my Grandma's came down to see baby Erin too. It was so great to spend the holidays with so much family. We weren't able to travel to Moab with the new baby, but Max and Jan did come visit for a few days after. They can hardly stand to be away from these cute grandkids!

But the best part about Christmas was that Brandon took 2 straight weeks off of work! He and Ben had lots of fun out in the snow every day. We loved having Daddy home all the time and sure miss him today.
