Disney on Ice

Thanks to one of my best friends, Ly, the girls and I were lucky enough to go see the Disney on Ice show tonight. The girls LOVED seeing their favorite princess stories played out in real life. It was well worth the late night out two hours past their bedtime (we'll see how this plays out at 6:45 tomorrow morning when I am waking them up for preschool).

There were tons of little girls all dressed up in their favorite princess dresses, but frankly, that was just way too much work for this mama to do on a Wednesday night. Thankfully, the girls didn't seem to care.

Miss Riley--Fave Princess, Cinderella

(Enjoying her peanut butter sandwich that I smuggled into the show. I'm cool like that. Who wants to drop $50 on food? Not me!!)

Miss Alyssa--Fave Princess, whoever wears pink!

Miss Makena--Fave Princess, Snow White

Thanks Auntie Ly....WE LOVE YOU!!

Wordful Wednesday-Motherhood

The theme this week is Motherhood in all it's beautiful forms.

I loved my pregnant belly. Probably a little more than most because I was only able to appreciate it for 25 short weeks before the girls entered this world. This picture was taken a few short days before delivery.

These days, one of the best parts of being a mom is sharing all those firsts with the girls....like their first fieldtrip!

Seven times the fun

We were lucky enough to spend Friday with our fave quad buddies, The McNultys. Whenever I have a day off from work, Gen and the quads are top on my list for playdates. The kids really enjoy each other and Gen and I get to feel like we have a partner in crime while running around chasing the kids together. They made the drive out to our neighborhood to play at one of our parks and the kids played their hearts out. We had the whole park to ourselves for most of the day and the kids took full advantage of all the space.

Between the two of us, Gen and I almost complete the lineup for our own baseball team! Here are the kiddos checking out the dugout before they make a complete mess of it.

Of course my kids start playing in the dirt and collecting bags of "corn." Love the imaginations of three and four year olds. Makena knows a day at the park would not be complete without digging in the dirt.

Riley is happy about the dirt too!

Alyssa flashing her sweet as sugar smile!

But the day wouldn't be complete without a Lissy-bear meltdown.
Had to capture that face on camera.

Molly and Libby got in on the dirt action too!

Molly and Alyssa swinging to their heart's content!

The kids had fun chasing the soccer ball around but nothing tops climbing the nets. Monkey genes must run in both of our families. Check out Russ in the top right-hand corner of the picture. Little man got all the way to the top!

Lunch time love!

And of course my girls complete the day by taking their shoes off and kicking back in the play structure. Those pink socks MUST belong to Alyssa.

And a HUGE thanks to Gen for bringing along the potty.
You know I couldn't resist taking this picture right? And yes, that is my Lissy-bear taking care of her business. Sometimes that trip to the bathroom is just too far!

Thanks for coming out to our hood McNulty's.. As always, we LOVED spending the day with you!

The Colors of Fall

Fall is a relatively short season in our area and we don't experience as much of the color changes that other regions do. When the girls and I were out for a walk yesterday, I noticed one of the trees stood out among all the others and I couldn't resist capturing some of that color.

It was fun to watch the girls find the beauty in their surroundings too!

Have you hugged a tree lately?

Riley and Alyssa...taking a short break in their acorn-picking to pose for mom.

Hope you all find something beautiful in your world to appreciate this weekend!

Wordful Wednesday-Pumpkin Patch

The girls had their first fieldtrip recently and I got to come along. It's always fun to see the girls in their preschool environment, but when I'm there they can't quite figure out how to act. Do we listen to the teacher like we normally do (think angelic behavior)? Or do we whine and fuss and pretend we can't walk and fall on the ground (think drive mommy crazy)? Overall it was 95 % angelic behavior so we all left in one piece.

The girl's highlight of the trip was riding a school bus to the fieldtrip. Personally, I could have lived with the fond memories I had of catching the bus at 6:45 in the morning as a Freshman in high school. Riding three to a seat and belting out Paul Revere at the top of your lungs with the other Freshman dorks kinda sticks with you. But this time we belted out Wheels on the Bus, so that is a memory I'll never forget.

Anyway, the pumpkin patch was a huge hit, as expected, and we will be going back at least one more time as a family before the Halloween season is over.

They cornered a goat....and a trip to a petting zoo wouldn't be complete without me yelling at them not to pick up the "little black balls" (a.k.a goat poop).

"Mommy, are you gonna leave us here?

Photostory Friday and The Grafitti Artist

If this girl isn't digging in the dirt, she is busy "tagging" our backyard (and herself) with her own version of grafitti. Luckily, chalk washes off easily and I don't mind seeing the various rainbow colored markings all over our bricks and sidewalks. Not to mention it just goes right along with the crayon scribblings inside the house that mark our walls and furniture.

I know I will miss these little signs of childhood one day.

It's hard to say no to that face isn't it?

Wordful Wednesday

"Is it Halloween yet mommy?" I hear this question many times a day now that Fall has offically started. And since we still have a couple of weeks before the sugar-rush and crash that is likely to follow, the girls are enjoying every single minute of Halloween celebration.

Which includes bumping into walls walking around the house with their trick-or-treat baskets on their heads. Riley a.k.a. "Slugger" gets a good three-feet radius around her when she is swinging her bat cause that girl has got a wicked swing!

Batter Up!!

Fall is in the air

Cool, crisp nights
Pumpkin bread baking in the oven
Warm fleece jammies
Leaves changing colors
Reading books in bed (ok that happens year round, but it's much cozier in the Fall)
Pumpkin Patch trips
Halloween decorations

I've been waiting for you Fall....

Photostory Friday and What a Mess!

Give the girls a can of shaving cream and you've got some cheap entertainment! This is one of their favorite activities at preschool and a great way to practice writing their letters and numbers...for 30 seconds or so and then all bets are off! It's time to make a mess!

The girls enjoying their OWN can of shaving cream. Let's limit the catfights whenever possible!

Alyssa wins the first trip to the washing machine :)

Look at that concentration...

Riley is SO proud of her mess!

Anyone up for a shaving cream scrub?

If you're happy and you know it clap your hands!

What a mess! Even the garage door got in on the action.
