Technology is cool

Technology is cool. I saw something on channel 8 as I was flipping through the news, on how companies building expensive parts can use a computer simulation to see if their design will work before they spend the money to build it. If the computer program fails the new design, they just go back to the drawing board and without wasting the time and money. Anyway, I thought that was pretty great.

Health Insurance

End of the year at work means time to choose a health insurance plan for the next year. U-Haul is offering a Health Care Savings Account (HSA) as one option and I'm considering it, although the deductible is higher. It basically works like an IRA where the government lets you contribute so much per year tax free, and work throws in some money and it grows in mutual funds or stocks or whatever. You get a debit card and checks to use for medical expenses and when you leave the company, you take the account with you. If anyone knows anything about these, let me know. I'm pretty sure they will catch on as the new way to use Health Insurance unless Hillary wins and axes the whole thing.

Driving

This is my first post. These are probably going to be pretty random since I'm not sure what the point of this blog is yet.

I usually make Josh drive when we're crisscrossing the valley, but he was sleepy last night so I drove home. I wasn't really tired, but to keep myself alert I do turn up the music really loud and clap or drum on the steering wheel or dance. All of these things wake Josh up in a panic and then he accuses me of being too tired to drive. Anyway, we made it home just fine.
