Pumpkin Adventures

Last night Mikey tripped over Josh's feet with his sippy in his mouth. Luckily it was one of those Nuby ones with the soft tops so his teeth were fine, but his nose, not so much.

Despite looking like a little football hero, I took Mikey out in public today to a pumpkin patch and corn maze in Glendale. We had a good time, but it was blazing hot!

So many pumpkins to choose from. Of course we came home with two cucumbers and a tomato. Maybe we'll carve pumpkins next year.

Hanging out in the corn maze.

We saw lots of animals. Chickens, goats, a pig, an ostrich. Mikey has been learning to say Moo and he has also been working on Boo for Halloween, so he said Boo to all the ponies. Whatever works.

On the way home we stopped at Dairy Queen. I leveled off a cone and handed it back to the kid. He thought it was great and I didn't hear any complaints about listening to talk radio or the High School Musical soundtrack.

After I got him down for a nap I went out to clean up his car seat. It was still worth it. Mikey usually hates car trips.

Happy Halloween Week

If Mikey had been a girl, this is probably what he would have worn for Halloween this year...

I think he sensed something wasn't right about wearing a skirt and wings.

So Mikey is going to be a monkey this year. Much better :)

All about Mikey...

I've been bad about writing down all the new things Mikey is doing or interested in, so I'm going to copy my sister Mary and make a list. I hope this doesn't bore you. I spend all day with a 14- month-old so I get excited about the little stuff.

Michael loves.... The vacuum (va-va) Lately its been his first word when he wakes up.

Michael also loves anything with a plug, which drives Josh crazy because Mikey also likes to put them in his mouth and then wants to plug them back into the wall. The phone chargers have been confiscated for the time being.

Michael has been saying Grover for a while (why him I'm not sure), But he finally started saying Elmo or "Mo" as he calls him.

Michael as many of you know is nicknamed Mikey Bear. I also call him many variations of this including Honey Bear, Barry Bearenstein (His Jewish alter-ego), and when Josh and I talk about him - "the bear". As in "The bear is asleep" or "The bear just pulled all your socks out of the drawer".

Michael loves phones and anything resembling it gets put up to his ear (remote controls, calculators, toys with buttons etc.) He can say phone really clearly. Yesterday he somehow voice activated the number buttons on my phone even though the phone was locked. Can someone tell me how to make it stop so don't hear "six-two-three!"

Michael can do a spot-on impression of Josh wagging his finger and saying "no-no."

The only food word Mikey can say is banana (nana) so when he's hungry thats what he asks for.

Anything up high that he wants really bad is "dee."

I think its his goal in life to find someone who will let him bite their toes. Amy's kids didn't really appreciate it the other day when we were over there.

Michael is really good about letting me brush his teeth, even his back teeth (he's starting to get molars).

That kid can run!

Ward Campout

Josh and I have been in the ward about four or five years and this is the first ward campout we've made it to. Michael had a lot of fun running as fast as he could in any direction (including towards the campfire). The camp site is only 30 miles west of us, so we just came for the evening and skipped the sleeping over part. Bridgette took this picture of us, and I'm so glad because Josh and I forgot all about taking any.

Here are some recent random pictures of Michael. We play outside a lot more now that the weather is nice (although not as much as he'd like).

I got a set of toy blocks after Mikey kept trying to stack my soup cans, but paper towels work too. Mikey got very upset when the tower fell, but I think I consoled him too well. Now all he wants to do is knock down my towers and laugh.

I don't know why he thinks this is so funny, but Michael's favorite thing lately is to play peek-a-boo upside down.

laundry helper

When Mikey is a teenager and won't do his own laundry, I'm going to use this video as proof that he was a master laundry helper at age one.
