Sidney's 16th and Been 6 years

OH MY GOSH!! I totally forgot I had this blog. I forgot about it for about 6 years. I ended with Sidney's 10th birthday, and am starting again with her 16th birthday. When I read this, I wonder, who WAS this person? I sounded so different than what I am now.  I was a young mom. Now I am a hard core "mom-in" Mom. I forgot how much I love to write.  Folks, you won't even believe how big my kids got in the span of 5 years. I look back at all of these pics and just can't believe I don't remember very much of it. So, I am have resolved to start writing again. I thought that I would always have my memory. It's scary to think of all that I have forgotten. Today, or it was yesterday because I have not been asleep yet, was Sidney's 16th birthday. Yes, a milestone. 2019 and 2020, I think were my hardest years as a parent, to date. We had a good day. I did the birthday table, had birthday signs, and we went to Macaroni Grill. Because of Covid-19, we could not have birthday parties. Coronavirus has pretty much turned our world upside down. It's been totally mismanaged by a president who does not care. I hope I don't die before a vaccination is created. But we have been car shopping ALL Weekend LONG. We found a Mercedes (nope), 2 Volkswagens (nope), and now looking at BMW X3. I mean WTH. I would been happy with whatever my parents got me, and they got me a Junker. Anyways. Hopefully we can find her a car she likes soon.

We only go through fast food. We went to Lake Charles to visit Craig for Father's Day, and went out then, but we had to.  But since February, we have been hermits. We did go to a Fourth of July party, but it was totally outside. I worry about Garrett. He only talks to his gaming friends. He does do athletics, but pretty soon, I'll stop that. It's too risky. I wish Sidney would wear a mask. None of her friends do. I did buy Garrett a cool camo mask, and he really liked it.

We had such a good time tonight. Sidney was in a good mood. She was being nice to Garrett. However, in driving to the forum, she missed her ramp to get to the forum, blew through 2 stop signs, and missed the exit to get back home. Plus when she switches lanes, I doubt that she looks. She wants her license tomorrow, but she can only go to chick fil a in Schertz and New Braunfels. No highway driving for her yet.

It is 3 am. I need my sleeping pill to knock me out. I have a very, very busy day tomorrow, loads of laundry, two dishwashers that need emptying, and hungry people.
Why can't I go to SLEEP????

Vacation

So.... We decided to take a mini vacation to Rockport, TX this year. So glad we did. It was a lot of fun. We chilled out on the beach there, and the kids loved the beach, as they always do. As usual, it is a challenge to keep them from getting sunburnt. We stayed at the beach on Friday for about 5 hours, and then went back to the hotel and swam. Then we went and saw the fireworks, which were great. We had never seen so many birds leave at one time when the fireworks started.

Then on Saturday, we had bought a canopy and spent almost 9 hours at the beach. Garrett played with some little kids that he had met. They called themseleves the "Jellyfish Busters" as they went and buried jellyfish. That night we went to eat at JDs, and I had Redfish, which was really good.

On Sunday morning, the kids went swimming again, and we decided to drive over to Port Aranses to check it out. We may vacation there one year. We got home around 6. While we were eating at Mama Margies, Garrett decided to throw up right in the middle of the restaurant. So that concluded our vacation!  I loved spending time with the kids and Craig.

Sidney's 10th Birthday Party

I try to schedule Sidney's birthday party for the first weekend that school lets out. I did that two years ago and it worked great. That way, I can get  the invitations to the kids before they all leave for various summer vacations. This year, we decided to have her party at "Painting with a Twist". It was a lot of fun. Sidney wanted to wear a little tutu. I can't believe she will be in double digits. If I blink, she will be 20 before I know it, and another 10 years will have gone by. Garrett painted too, but he painted his painting gold. I have both of their paintings hanging in my office now!

Recital Time

Here are two videos. One is of Garrett's Kindergarten performance, and another is of Sidney's violin recital. Both of them did really well!

Bluebonnets

I must post a few pictures of the kids in the bluebonnets. Did you know......that it is illegal to pick them? Just kidding......... But very frowned upon. These were taken a week before Easter. Summer is almost here. The kids get out of school on June 4th. I have planned Sidney's birthday party for June 8th. I know it is early, but this way, I can pass out invitations to the class. I am hoping for 10 kids. I sent out 15 invitations. It poured buckets of rain here yesterday, so our beloved dog, Rocco, took to pooping on the back porch again. He did not want to get wet. Makes sense to me, just a hassle to clean up.

Baseball and Easter

I am posting a few pics of Garrett in his baseball uniform. Garrett was surprisingly good at baseball. I think that baseball will be his sport. He really liked it.

Easter was fun. The Easter bunny brought an Easter pinata. They also had confetti eggs that they played with, and an Easter egg hunt. Our neighborhood had its community easter egg hunt, and we went to that as well. I just love Easter.

Memorial Day 2014

My oh My. I have not posted in quite awhile.  I have missed Halloween, Thanksgiving, Garrett's birthday, and Christmas, but I will try to post some pics of those. Sidney had her Violin recital and it was so good. Garrett had his Hawaiian themed school program, and he was great. This weekend, we are going to try to go see Million Dollar Arm, during our day off. I wish that I could go visit Grandpa. That is what I would really like to do with my Memorial Day. Living so far away from family really tears at my heart strings.

This kids are growing up so fast. Sidney just finished her cheer competition. Garrett just finished his baseball season. So we have a little lull here before cheer and football start back up. It is nice to come home and not have to rush anywhere. The kids are only in one activity at a time.Violin is done right after school, so it really does not count since I don't have to take her to practice. As we end the year, I am just but amazed that Sidney will be starting 5th grade next year, and Garrett survived Kindergarten, and is actually reading. I may take him a long time to sound out the word, and I really have to have an adult beverage with our reading sessions, but alas, he is READING. Yay!

I will try to find some pictures that I took of Garrett without his teeth, and he lost both his front teeth, and looks so cute without them. I switched jobs this year, and now work for Orbitz. I really enjoy working for them, and can't wait to see what the next few years bring.
