It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas!

Holy cow! To all my warm weathered friends out there...I'm officially snow broken. Not really, I haven't even attempted to drive in the snow thanks to Russell who is our official chauffeur for the week until the snow melts. We had some light snow on Sunday and thought "oh how nice." Not having any idea that we would get almost a foot! I know that doesn't sound like a lot but trust me, it's enough to keep me inside my house unless there's an emergency. Maggie had a "snow day" on Monday so that was fun to keep her home and her and Lucas had a blast playing in the fresh powder.

This was only the beginning

blurry. woops. you can still see the grass....for now

This was later that night, ya.

Our front balcony. I love the trees covered in snow.

The backyard

my sick little girl. She has had bad diarrhea for 3 days now. I've tried the BRAT diet (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast) and anything else she'll eat and it hasn't helped much. I'm glad she's not throwing up though.

Lucas' reaction to seeing all the new snow Monday morning.

It snowed all night

He's so cute. Getting the porch all cleaned off to bring in some firewood. Thanks to our little fireplace, it has totally kept our house nice and toasty!

Maggie looking at the snow

After we came back from Walmart (in the snow) all of our neighbors were out snowblowing everyones driveways and the street. They are so awesome. Russell got in on the action but I didn't get a pic.

Maggie was so proud of her snow angel

Lucas attempted to make one too.

Today we woke up to a bright sunny day with a high of 24 degrees. Hooray. At least the sunshine will help warm up the house but with it being so cold there's no chance this snow is melting anytime soon. This is the view from our front porch

Lucas had so much fun playing with the sled, poor guy. It's hard to walk in snow when it comes up to your knees!

He made it up to the top again but couldn't turn himself around in time so he went down backwards!

You can barely see his blue jacket, he escaped out to the front yard to check things out...don't worry mom, I was watching him the whole time.

Did I mention it's supposed to snow Wed-Sunday this week?

Thanksgiving Holiday

It was so nice to go home to Arizona for Thanksgiving. Flying was interesting. 90mph winds + snow/rain did not make for a quick and easy trip there. Our flight was delayed 3 hours and I didn't want to leave the airport in case the weather got better....bad idea. The kids actually did pretty good since we tried to waste time eating lunch and walking around. Needless to say, by the time we got on the airplane we were ready to get to Arizona. The kids loved the plane ride but it wasn't over when we arrived. We had to take a shuttle to the rental car place and spend about an hour waiting there so by the time we got to Grandma Kennedys it was 10:30 at night and our trip started at 1:00 in the afternoon.....LONG day. Worth it. We had so much fun seeing old friends and family, playing at Grandma Kennedys and Grandma Buckmisters, going to lunch , getting family pictures, enjoying the beautiful warm weather, eating too much on Thanksgiving, shopping on black Friday, helping put up Christmas trees.....and everything else! I didn't take as many pictures as I intended to so here's what we got!

We each had a row so it made for a nice flight.

Bubble baths are always the best after a long day.

Highlight of Maggie's trip, helping both Grandma's put out their Christmas decorations

Highlight of Lucas' trip, playing with the dogs. Each morning that was first on his agenda, to go play with the dogs

Maybe this was Lucas' favorite part. Riding the motorcycle

I got a kick out of it too!

We are counting down the days until we go back down for Christmas! We came home to snow in our yards which was kind of fun but we are soo excited for the Holidays in Arizona. 16 days to depart for az

We're in Arizona and I couldn't be happier. I miss my old life here but we love our new one in Reno as well. There's nothing better than being around family to rejuvenate your soul! Pictures to come later.

Halloween 09'

Ahh, Halloween how do I love thee? Not very much actually. I do love the season and the month of October and putting up all my decorations but then when Halloween rolls around I'm ready for it to be over so we can start November! I love Thanksgiving. This year I went and helped out at Maggie's Halloween Party at school and I brought Lucas and Violet with me. They read a scary story, had a mummy station, a haunted maze, a treat station and a ooey gooey brains and eyeball station where they could dig around for prizes. It was so cute to see all the kids and the teachers dressed up. Lucas was able to join in on all the fun so he thought that was great!

Maggie's student teacher was Patrick from Spongebob, she had a box thing that went over her face, it was classic.

Magg's decided to be a witch for school and it was freezing that day, poor thing, I forgot to bring her jacket so she was so cold when they did their parade! I'm the worst mom!

Violet was pretty good until she noticed the toilet paper at the mummy station.

Lucas even did the parade with them! Too bad I didn't have him dress up.

On Halloween night we tagged along with some friends in our ward to go trick-or-treating, our neighborhood isn't trick-or-treat friendly. We ate pizza and then headed out. I couldn't get Violet to stand with the other kids for a pic so here's Lucas as a skeleton pirate and Maggie as a ballerina.

I told Maggie to pose like a ballerina and so did Lucas!

It was time to head out and where was Violet? Outside in the car which she LOVES....guess what she's getting for Christmas?

Here's our little witch all ready to go!

After a long night of haunted houses and getting lots of loot the kids were ready to go home. Halfway through the night Maggie kept telling me, "Mom I have enough candy, lets go home"
What kids says that on Halloween night?

Not sure how she was still awake at 10:30 at night, too much candy I guess!

Family Time

I always knew that I should be spending more time doing fun stuff with my kids rather than cleaning or watching the latest recorded show from the DVR. Sometimes I feel like I get so easily frustrated with my kids for the smallest thing and I feel so bad when I'm a grumpy mom so this week I decided to try to find fun stuff the kids and I could do together or as a family and it makes a world of difference! I think happy days were had by all this week. We carved pumpkins, made calzones together (which were delicious thanks to my brother Aaron for the dough recipe), we went to the corn maze and Maggie wanted to help with just about anything I was doing, laundry and all!

I hadn't carved a pumpkin in years so this was a really fun thing to do with the kids

Violet girl is happy as long as she can be on the table or counter to see all the action

Of course Lucas loved the goo!
This next series of pictures is kind of funny, I wanted Maggie and Lucas to smile with their pumpkins and for some reason, maybe because the lights were out, I don't know but I could not get them to look at me and smile. Their faces are classic.

You can see the fear in her eyes!

Oh well, guess it makes for a great Halloween picture

The other night Maggie came running upstairs to let us know that it was snowing. What? We had no idea but it was snowing pretty good! So fun and for some reason Russell always wants me to go outside to take a picture. You can't really tell but it stuck and stayed until the next morning!

I can't wait to wake up to a winter wonderland!
