A Night Out on the Town...

So Monday we were graced by the presence of our best buds/family, Steve and Liz(sorry no pic of the lovely couple). We thought about catching a flick but nothing sounded of interest to the whole group of us, there were plenty of corny ones I wanted to see but what can you do? So we set off to ride the new light rail to downtown Phoenix. It was quite the adventure.
First of all we had a guy get on that was obviously drunk or maybe worse and he was rambling about getting on the wrong train again and then about breaking up with his girl because the police told him to....lots of explicits, yada yada yada and he was gone leaving us laughing and feeling a little sorry for the guy.
So after we got downtown Russell showed us some of the projects he worked on and we walked toward the ball park which was just letting out after a game so you can imagine the streets were packed with people. Unfortunately Phoenix doesn't really have much of a night life so we found ourselves bording the train to head back to Tempe. Don't feel too bad for us because on the way back our train was full of drunken fans from the game, some Diamondback fans, some Cubs fans...can you guess what happens when you mix alcohol, 19-22yr olds and unhappy fans that just watched their team lose? Ya, we saw a fistfight, more than one person was throwing punches, it was quite hilarious. It's very interesting to see how many people will jump into a fight for whatever reasons only known to themselves.
At the end of our interesting and entertaining ride the doors open as we arrive back at our stop and my lovely purse was stuck in the seat! I was freaking out that the doors would close and I would have to keep riding the train...alone and then have to go back yada yada yada, so Liz was like dropping things out of her bag as she was helping me get my purse unstuck. It was very scary at the time but now that I think about it does it not sound kind of lame? Oh well. Thanks Steve and Liz for a fun night on the town!

The happy couple before our night out

One happy child

Another happy child that just wanted to get his picture taken so he could look at it afterwards

Picture overload....

(oops, this picture is supposed to be at the very bottom of the post, this was Maggie and I at dinner before our big "date")
Happy Easter!! What a fun, crazy-busy weekend. Easter is one of my favorite holidays if not the favorite of mine. I love that General Conference is always around Easter, I love the candy and goodies, I love the lessons/talks in church on Easter Sunday and I LOVE Easter dinner. I was so grateful for Elder Hollands talk last week about the Saviors last week before he was crucified. It really helped me to think of Him this last week and I really tried to keep my home quiet and separate from the "world" so to say, in preparation for this weekend. Maggie is at such a fun age, she is so independent and sooo excited for each little activity that we did this week. This morning Russell took Maggie and Lucas to my Grandpa's house around the block to deliver his Easter treat and while they were away the "Easter Bunny" stopped by!

I was ready with the camera when the came running up the lawn as soon as they saw their loot.

Lucky for them, they got kites in their baskets....silly bunny, you were a few days too late for the windy weather!

They were so excited for Violet that she got Madagascar 2....lucky for them she's nice and will "share" it with them. They didn't even care or notice that she didn't get any candy.

Seriously. I can not get Lucas to just pause for one second and smile for me....ever.

Well maybe once. Is this picture typical of anyone else's kids when your trying to get them all to give you a decent smile? Violet was already past her good time and we hadn't even got to church yet.

Oh, my Russell. He looks so much younger with his beard gone!

On Saturday we had our annual Easter egg hunt and dinner at the Kennedy's. The kids look forward to this all day each year!

Some of the cousins and aunt Summer divvying up the goods. (I put these pics in random order)

Our little Maggster, she is such a cutie.

We almost got a good pic, if only he wasn't blinking..ahhhh. It totally started raining as they were looking for eggs, I loved it.

Grandma and Grandpa Kennedy have lots of citrus trees which make for great hiding spots!

Easy hiding spots for the little ones.

It's hard to believe that next year Violet will be looking for eggs too!

Got one!

Grandma Kennedy hid some eggs filled with money out back, that was the hit of the party!

Gracie, Kash and Maggie are group 2. We have to split them up by age so they all get a fair shot, it works really good. Here they are gearing up to go!

Maggie and Gracie's faces say it all.

I know your jealous of my leather jacket, don't be a hater. It got pretty cold out there!

Did anyone else see that double rainbow!? It was HUGE, I couldn't fit it all in the camera but it was a perfect ending to our hunt, so beautiful!

The other day I had the Gardners over for some play time so Julie could get some of her Easter things ready and we had a grand ol' time. We colored some Easter pictures, ate lunch, made some bunny ears and frosted sugar cookies.

Look at all these cute bunnies I found in my yard!

They didn't even get into the garden! There was one more little bunny (Lindsey), but she wasn't having any picture action.

On Thursday night Maggie and I had a Mom and Daughter date night. I surprised her with tickets to Disney on Ice Disneyland Adventure. It was so nice to just spend time with my Maggie girl. She thought it was the greatest thing ever and she didn't even cry when mom wouldn't buy her $10.00 cotton candy or a $12.00 snow cone. I don't even want to think of how much money some parents spent that night on concession, that's where the money is!

The Incredibles were taking a tour through D-land and this was the Pirates scene.

I'm pretty sure I annoyed the people around us with my flash, I took too many pictures, most of which are not posted on here!

This was one of the final scenes with all the characters, we sat on the 4th row which was great but seeing the wigs and costumes up close was not so great at times.. kind of weird but I'm sure from the top it looked great!

I have no idea what setting to use when it's dark and your image is moving at a fast speed so I can't get a clear picture. Any ideas?

Phew! That was a lot of pictures but we had a great week!
