Slow Down, Summer

We spent the weekend laying by the pool. I personally think that's a great way to spend it. I'm actually getting a tan, although I haven't been in a couple of weeks so it's kind of slow going. Reagan ran into one of her friends at the pool so she came home with us for a sleepover. I don't know how late they stayed up, the last time I went in there it was midnight and they PROMISED they were getting into bed. Of course they told me this 3 times when I'd been in there getting onto them. Must be nice to be young. I was so tired the only thing that got me out of bed was the thought of a nap after church. We decorated the church this afternoon for Vacation Bible School, which starts tomorrow. We're only having it for 3 days; I think that everybody is as worn out as we are. We all need a break from the summer activities, I'm ready for things to slow down.

Home From Camp

Reagan made it home from camp yesterday. She was very glad to be home, I think that 2 camps in 2 weeks was a little too much for her. She was exhausted and cranky. I think those two are supposed to go hand in hand. Exhausted or not she was immediately ready to go somewhere, anywhere. We had the annual meeting at the gin last night, so we drug Reagan and Sage to the supper. It was very good but it was in Crosbyton and they were not thrilled about running into people they knew when they lived there. Not surprisingly they survived.

Coming and Going

It's been such a busy time I'm not sure where to begin. Jon, Reagan and I went to Lubbock and bought a crib Saturday afternoon. It looks great but it takes 4-8 weeks before it will come in. I also picked out a stroller but since it was $800, I think I'll pick again. After we got that done we headed home to pick up Reese, who returned from camp Saturday night. He had a great time but was completely worn out when he returned. We got to see all of the kids for awhile on Father's Day and had a great meal at the church sponsored by Reagan's GA group. Then on Monday morning we were off again. Reagan left for GA camp this morning and won't be back until Thursday. Reese and Bridgette are flying back to Missouri on Wednesday so they're running out of time to see everyone they want to see. There seems to always be someone coming or going around here.

Home From Camp

I made the trip to Canyon this afternoon to pick Reagan up from basketball camp. The awards ceremony didn't take long considering there were like 150 girls there. They split the girls into teams and every girl on each team got an award for her team. Reagan got "Most Improved Dribbler". She didn't think that she improved so she didn't understand why she got the award. I told her that sometimes other people see what you don't see about yourself. Of course, her friend, Maddie, got "Most Aggressive", which didn't surprise anybody. Reagan thought that camp was fun but 3 girls in 1 room for 5 days was too much. She was definitely ready to come home. She's not real thrilled that she leaves for GA Camp on Monday. We thought that Reese was coming home today but apparantly we were wrong. He, of course, never bothers to bring home paperwork or ask what the plans are. He did try to call earlier but our house phone is not working at all and I was outside when he called my cell. I tried to call back but I just got voice mail. I guess we'll see him tomorrow.

Catching up

Fredricksburg was great, even though I wasn't particularly fond of our hotel. I love to walk around and look at everything. I'm usually the fast walker but this time I was asking my Mom to slow down and could we sit on the bench for a minute. I did manage to get some great souveniers and eat some great food. It was also wonderful to get back home again. I immediately had to go to the grocery store because apparantly people still eat when I'm gone. I caught up on yard work the next day and then Jon and I went on a date. We decided to come home and watch a movie instead of going to the movies. The kids are coming back from camp today and have a couple of days before they hit the road again. Just enough time to do laundry and get some rest.

Trying Again

We went to Roaring Springs again yesterday to swim and freeze. It was so hot outside and so cold in the water I couldn't decide which was better. It was 100 outside and so we jumped right in when we got there. We didn't stay in very long though. We got out and ate snacks and soaked up some sun. Bridgette and Reese went exploring while Reagan and I tried out the water again. We got out even quicker this time. We stopped at the river on the way out so Reese could try to dam it up again. This being his ultimate goal. He even brought a shovel. Sage and Aaron got there just as we were leaving so we left the floaties and the rest of the snacks with them, oh and Reese. Reese stayed with them. The rest of us stopped at that cafe in Roaring Springs and ate their wonderful, overpriced food. We were the only people in there, of course, it was only 5pm. We got home in plenty of time to feed and clean up the kittens.

Moving

The baby is now officially moving.....I think. It's little flutters that I have never felt before. It feels really weird but very reassuring. I'm hitting 20 weeks tomorrow so I'm right on schedule.

Home Again

Bridgette and Reese made it.....finally. Their plane was only 2 hours late. I was beginning to wonder. Reagan and I did find things to do in Lubbock while we waited. Unfortunately for Reagan she watched me get my toes done again. I tried something new last time and decided that I was just not a pink toe person and wanted my bright orange back. The kids were starving when we picked them up so I took them to eat and then brought back food for everyone else. We invaded Nana's house after we got settled in and they had a very, long spirited game of Monopoly. This morning I took Reese to get his physical for athletics and we are going to Roaring Springs this afternoon to freeze, I mean swim.

It's a Boy

I had another ultrasound today and they said that it's a boy. Jon asked if they were sure and they said they were. Reagan was a little disappointed because she wanted a baby sister but the rest of us were happy. I had only gained 2 pounds and that also made me very happy. I've been buying watermelons and canteloupes and trying to stuff my face with this instead of nachos. They said that the baby (currently being named Riley) is 11 ounces and moves around a lot. Reagan and I celebrated by buying onesies at Old Navy. I need to start working on the babies room so I have somewhere to put all of the stuff I'm going to need and decided if I'm going to paint the walls. I also have to start worrying about furniture escpecially since the room has no closet or storage of any kind. My list is now beginning.......

Poor Miss Kitty

I think that something happened to poor Miss Kitty. She had kittens a couple of weeks ago and I haven't seen her in a couple of days. The first problem was that she had them in the shop above one of the storage rooms, in an old basket way at the back. Reagan and I finally got them down and are now attempting to bottle feed them. Their crying is already driving us crazy, I guess I should get used to it. Miss Kitty has had 4 litters and has never been gone more than an afternoon, usually she's sitting on the front porch in the shade. I don't think that sounds too good.

Swim Time

I bought 3 blow up swim things (????) when they were on sale at the end of last year. I took one to Reagan who promptly began blowing it up. That went so slowly that she enlisted Sage to help her. I, of course, took pictures. It turned out well and Reagan used it at the pool with her buddies. I like to swim and then float around. I've found if you get out of the water it's a lot colder, at least this time of year.

Summer Begins

We've been so busy we haven't had time to turn around. We are finally having our first day where we don't have to go anywhere. We are going to the pool and the library. Reagan is signing up for the reading program at the local library and then we're going swimming. I love to swim but swimsuit shopping SUCKS. I finally found a good maternity swimsuit online. Who thought that maternity swimsuits shouldn't have underwire? I mean really that just seems so wrong. I'm not worried about the bottom I'm just hoping the top fits. I am not giving up swimming. On a happier note, Reese made it to Missouri and is having a great time. He called yesterday to tell me about the rocks that he's found so far. I'm planning on putting them in my flower beds if he can get them home. I'm not sure how much his suitcase will hold. He took 3 pairs of shoes....I don't get it. He brings me rocks from everywhere.
