Hello Nadene!
Nice sink drain.

This brooch is not meant for me. It is large. I am small. It is intricate and delicate looking and in its own right a sculpture, but we were not a match. That is the sad truth. I looked like the wearer of a large third breast, and felt tempted to wear the brooch as a bunny tail, if wear it at all. Sorry. How awful of me. After one male friend described it as reminding him of a sink drain I became even more disheartened. But, I did find it a match. And that, my friend, is the real the story.

The match is a lovely lady, let’s call her Judy, who lives in San Francisco and works at a jewelry store full of beautifully hand-crafted pieces from near and far. She was wearing a gorgeous sweater, a cream woolen jersey, and a huge smile. We talked for some time about the genius that is the concept of broachofthemonth club and rarefungalbehaviour and I showed her the sink-drain brooch that had been causing me quite some heartache. The moment as Judy released her hands away from the pin to reveal the brooch against her jersey… well… I can only tell you that I felt pure happiness. It IS a brooch, and not merely a sculpture. It CAN be worn and look stunning.

And so, with the bad and then the good experienced and many months in possession of this piece, I am sad to see it fly out of my hands to someone else. But, naturally thrilled to think of it soon to be in the hands of that special someone and explored, investigated, and abhorred, or adored by them. I love rarefungalbehaviour. Thank you!
