What A Wonderful Christmas!!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I know it's a few days afterwards, but the Spirit is still around. Despite not being able to go anywhere for Christmas, we certainly had a wonderful time. The girls got all dressed up in their Christmas clothes on Christmas Eve...Christmas shirts and light-up socks (thanks Marj!!) and special Christmas bows for their hair (made by mommy). They were very excited...too bad Robbie had to work all day.

After dinner we did our normal holiday traditions. First we made cookies, and while they cooked and cooled off, the girls colored a coloring book of The Night Before Christmas that I had put together for them to keep them occupied, since they are a little small to do Christmas Bingo like my family has done for years. After coloring, we sat down and explained the story of Christ's birth to the girls with the help of a toy manger set that Marj bought for the girls (which they loved...we were worried that we wouldn't find all the pieces by Christmas because it's all they wanted to play with every day up till Christmas). They really loved the baby Jesus. We then went and decorated Christmas cookies...everyone except Grace...she kind of ate the decorations before they got onto her cookies. After picking out cookies for Santa and getting some carrots for the reindeer, the girls got ready for bed and we read The Night Before Christmas. Gwen didn't want to go to bed after that, and she even woke up at one point and half asleep asked where Santa was. It was really cute.

The girls had a breakfast picnic in our room the next morning while Robbie set up the video camera and I got my camera ready. They had a lot of fun doing that, especially since they got to watch Shrek while eating. Amazingly we didn't have any spills or crushed food in our bedroom afterwards. They certainly enjoyed their Santa gifts too...Grace got a bowling set (which she loved) and Gwen got Moon Sand (oh, she was thrilled).

They had so much fun opening gifts too. Gwen wanted to play with each gift after it was opened, and Grace just wanted to play in the box of ripped up wrapping paper each time she took her presents wrapping paper to the box. They both had so much fun though and got so many nice things from everyone. The biggest present though was the toy box/bookshelf that Robbie made for the girls for Christmas (and much thanks to Quinn for all his help and to Diana and Quinn for having Robbie there two weekends in a row and helping him with the box...we really appreciate it, and the girls absolutely love it). Grace immediately started putting toys in the box and they have both found that they can climb in and out of the box to reach any toy they want (or to just play with them in the box, which lessens the mess I have to pick up). It's awesome, and they have had a blast. Rob and I didn't make out too bad either, but I think we most enjoyed the look on the girls faces as they saw what they got and the look on each other's faces as we opened our own presents. It's been a great week for us, and we hope it has for you as well!! Thank you to everyone for the gifts and the Christmas cards we recieved from you this year. You have all been in our hearts and we're pleased that you too remembered us. Love you all!!

Happy Birthday To Me

Today is my 25th birthday...hip hip hooray!! Actually, it just feels like another day, but apparently it's making my mom feel older. We're getting a pretty big snowstorm today, so I feel really bad that I'm making Robbie barbeque for my birthday dinner tonight...oh well. Other than that, it's just another day.

Robbie's doing really well. He's looking forward (and so am I) to Christmas...not only for the excitement of it all, but he gets Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday off from work. So, while that means less of a paycheck, that's more time than normal that I get to spend with my husband, and I am all for that. He starts school again on the 7th, so the more time we get to spend with him before he's busy with school and work, the happier I'll be. He took our family Christmas photo on Sunday, so as soon as he's done editing it, we'll post in here and email it out. He's becoming quite the photographer with his new camera!!

The girls are doing really well too. We painted Rudolph the other day with their hands and feet (feet for the head, hands for the antlers) then glued google eyes on and used red glitter for the nose. They had so much fun doing that-Gwen keeps talking about her reindeer. They went and met Santa for the first time on Friday and Gwen went right up to him. Every time Santa asked her a question though all she could do is giggle like crazy. She still talks about Santa and has even said that she's seen him and his reindeer flying at night. Grace didn't react at all to Santa-she just sat there, looked around at everything except Santa, and true to her personality around strange people, showed no emotion what so ever. The rest of the time we were in the store though she kept saying, "Tanta? Tanta!" They both seem really excited for Christmas. Oh, and there's a new Gwen funny-she runs around after Grace with a blanket over her head and says "Ooohh...Grace, I am the Holy Ghost!" in the spookiest voice she can do...it's really funny.

As for me, things are going good. I had a doctor's appointment on the 18th and they said that everything looks good-nothing to be concerned about. I go back for my next appointment on the 2nd and I'm pretty sure they're going to start checking me then since I'll be 20 days from my due date and because of signs my body is showing me (and I've talked about this with the doctor) that it's getting ready for labor (I had the same signs with Grace...and one of them with Gwen that I can remember). So, we'll be spending this weekend and next getting all the baby stuff out of storage and figuring out where we are going to put everything in our little apartment. I've also been preparing things for my counselors so that when I do go into labor, they won't be confused as to how things are supposed to go (I have to call a new 1st counselor and my 2nd one has been away for the holidays) and who everyone is in Primary. Lots to do before the baby comes, and time is running short. Oh, and we have decided on a name...her name will be Georgia Ann Congdon. I'll let everyone know when things start happening, but hopefully she waits until after Gwen's birthday (Jan. 12th). With my luck, she probably will. Still, doesn't hurt to be prepared (oh, and Gwen tells me all the time that I have a fat belly-even when she sees pregnancy pictures-"Mom, that's your fat belly!!")!

4 Years

Today is our anniversary...4 years together! It seems amazing that all that time together has all ready passed and at the same time it seems like we've been married so much longer than that. It seems like yesterday where I was still deciding to either turn in my mission papers or to marry Robbie...good thing I listened to the Lord, or I wouldn't have the wonderful family that I have now and would have missed out on so much. I am so grateful for Robbie and our love for each other and that we were able to go to the temple together and be sealed as an eternal family. I love him so much and I know he loves me too by all the things he does for me and our family. I look forward to the many years ahead with him and all the experiences that we'll share.

A Tinker Bell Party!!

My mom sent the girls a box before Thanksgiving with all the things we needed to have a Tinker Bell party, including the new Tinker Bell movie. We finally had our party on Tuesday and the girls had so much fun!! We set up the table with everything Tinker Bell-tablecloth, plates, napkins, cups, balloons and "streamers."
The girls also had fairy crowns and noise makers to play with. My mom also sent them Tinker Bell stickers and Color Wonder books, along with everything to make confetti cupcakes (the cupcakes and icing with little spots of color). The girls ate cupcakes while they watched the movie-and then played with their balloons for the rest of the afternoon. They had a blast-thanks mom!!

Snow Day!!

We got a good deal of snow last night (okay, well maybe it was only 2 to 3 inches, but that's enough) so I decided to take the girls out to play in the snow for the first time. Gwen was so excited! She was thrilled to look out the window this morning and see all the snow. I don't think Grace knew what was going on-just that we were going to go outside for a little while. The girls looked so cute in their new snow clothes.

Grace had a hard time outside though. She would loose her balance and fall backwards in the snow, then lay there like a beached turtle and whine until I came over to help her back up. Towards the end, she actually fell face first in the snow and just freaked out. She did not like having a face full of snow. Gwen had a blast though. We made a "mini snowman" (that's what she calls it) and she had so much fun packing more and more snow on top of the balls of snow I had rolled for her to make the snowman. It did at one point have a third snowball for it's head, but the snowman would fall over periodically while Gwen was "fixing" it that eventually the top one just fell off. I think it turned out all right though, and the girls did have a lot of fun being outside for a while today.

Another Checkup...and Christmas!!

I had another doctors appointment today. Everything is still going good...the nurse even thought it was funny how little weight I had gained over Thanksgiving. And despite my telling the doctor which side the baby favored, she still went looking for the heartbeat 3 times on the opposite side...and guess where she ended up finding the heartbeat? On the side I told her the baby liked. I go back on the 18th for another checkup and to get my Group B Strep test done...hopefully I won't have it this time like I did with Grace. Gwen told Robbie today at lunch that "mommy's stomach gonna pop open" when I have the baby...we got a good laugh out of that. What a mental picture that was.

We got all our Christmas stuff out on Saturday and set it all up (well, except for the few things that need a little bit of glue). The girls were thrilled. I tried teaching Gwen how to sing Jingle Bells but it didn't seem to sink in. Grace had a blast helping Rob put up Christmas ornaments on the tree. She threw a huge fit when I told her we were all done and there was nothing else left to put on the tree. She calmed down a little bit later when she found "tanta" (santa) and "melmo" (elmo) ornaments hanging next to each other on the tree. Gwen just had fun ringing the bell that was given to us for her first Christmas. They also had a lot of fun looking at all the hand carved ornaments that my Grandpa Sessions has made for me over the years. They are quite impressed with the outdoor lights too...Gwen talks about how pretty they all are, and Grace just says "WOW" over and over again. They are really getting excited. I'll put up more pictures as we take them and as we do more things with the girls to prepare for Christmas.

Heartburn...

I know I just posted a little while ago, but can I just say...

I HATE HEARTBURN!!

I had it really bad with Grace, but I had thought I'd lucked out with this one since I'd hadn't had too many problems with it. Yeah...forget that...the past week has been murder. Heartburn with just about everything I eat. It'll be interesting to see if this baby has a lot of hair...the old wives tale says lots of heartburn indicates lots of hair...grace had lots of hair. If this one does I'll put stock in that tale.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Before I get to Thanksgiving, and how wonderful it was, Robbie had his birthday this past Tuesday-he's now 27!! We had Matt over to celebrate with us and had his delicious home-made Chinese (egg rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and crab ragoons). Of course we also had cake and ice cream and Rob got to open his cards and presents. He and Gracie are doing what we call "silly face" in the picture-Grace does it all the time (I'll get a better picture of it later, I promise)! He had a great birthday.
We (our family and Matt) spend Thanksgiving down in Wyoming at Diana and Quinn's. It was a lot of fun and it was so nice of them to have us all over for a couple of days. Gwen loves being around her "Aunt Dilah" and "Uncle Kin" and had a blast playing with her cousin Maddie. Grace was thrilled with her too. She couldn't stop squealing and saying baby for about the first half hour we were there. They had a lot of fun with her. Gwen had a lot of fun with her Uncle Matt too-she played dress up with him and really made him look nice!!

We experienced our very first deep fried turkey-it was amazing!! And of course we had a few other yummy dishes-gravy, mashed potatos, stuffing, green beans and my mom's delicious rolls (her recipe I mean). We ended the night with pumpkin and chocolate pie (Matt's favorite and the girls-can you tell?). We spent Friday with them as well-Diana and I shopped online while Quinn, Robbie and Matt went grouse hunting (they got two). We had so much fun and are so thankful that they were willing to put up with us (mainly our hyper kids) for a few days. How thankful we are for our family!!

7 Months!

It's my monthly checkup/family update!

Robbie is doing good. He went fishing again last weekend and caught two really good sized fish. He's only got a few more weeks of doing work full time and school part time-school is almost over for the semester! Of course, in January Robbie will start going to school full time and working part time, so he only has a little bit of a break, but it'll be nice to have him home at night for dinner instead of having to eat without him. He still loves his new job and the people he works with. Funny story...while Robbie was cleaning his fish in the kitchen, I was finishing getting ready in the bathroom. I came out and noticed that Grace had once again stripped (she likes to take her socks and pants off-hasn't figured out her shirt yet). I went to get her redressed and found her sitting on the couch without a diaper on as well! This is the first child to figure out how to take off her diaper-I had a good laugh, especially when she kept turning around to look out the window (so she wouldn't have to get a diaper on) and mooning us! It gave me a really good laugh.
The girls are both doing pretty good. I never really understood the "terrible two's" until the last two weeks-Gwen has really hit a bad stage. She drives me crazy sometimes but she is still my sweet little helper, and really does try (most of the time) to be good. She likes going to my appointments and listening to the baby's heartbeat and seems really excited about having another baby sister. She's been really good about reminding us to say prayers every night too. Today, just when I thought I was going to rip my hair out over her and Grace, she went into the kitchen, threw some duplos up into the air like confetti and said "Hip Hip Hooray!" Along with telling us that we "Haf" to buy Wall-E, she makes up for the awful moments (like telling me she saw Jesus on the ceiling of our pediatricians yesterday). Grace has had a bit of a hard couple of weeks. Within the last two weeks Grace has had three of her eye teeth come in. She got her top two within a day or two of each other, and in between the top two coming in, one of her bottom eye teeth started to move up (it just broke the surface this week). I felt really bad for her, mainly because she seemed to have a head cold at the same time (not too sure about that though). Then to top it all off I had to take her to the doctor Thursday-she woke up early that morning with a fever of almost 104 (after stripping her to take her temperature), and the next morning after letting her sit in our cold apartment for half an hour and letting her get goose bumps all over, her fever was still at 102.8 So, the doctor wasn't sure exactly what was going on with her (all he could say for sure is that her throat and tonsils were both swollen and red) so he put her on an antibiotic just to make sure it wasn't something viral, which he said it could have been. Her fever broke last night (whether due to it all being viral and running it's course or because of the medication, we're not sure) and she's doing better. She is saying a lot more things now too-door, here I are, inker bal (tinker bell) and a few more. She's getting so big (she is a pound more in weight than Gwen but still shorter).

As for me, I am doing all right. I am really tired all the time, which I have to keep an eye on since it could mean that my iron is low (it was borderline when they did my iron test last month). Other than that, things are going pretty good. My glucose test came back in the normal range, my weight and blood pressure are good, and so is the baby's heart beat. I have been feeling crampy every now and then, but I felt like this with Grace too, and as long as there's no blood or fluids, I am fine-my body is just preparing itself (so I've been told, with Grace and this baby). I also get this popping sensation in my abdomen when I flip to my other side at night, and I couldn't tell if it was my pelvic bone or my tailbone, but the doctor said it's just muscle popping back into place after having been in a certain position for too long. Once again, nothing to worry about. The baby is still moving like crazy, and quite a few times I've had elbows or knees poking out and been able to feel them-Rob says it looks like an alien trying to escape. My calling is going good as well. I'm not sure what they're planning on doing come January since we just got a new bishopric but we'll see. I am looking forward to the Christmas lesson with the kids-I'm hoping to help them understand a bit more what it's really about (and not just Santa and presents).

That's all for now...keep checking back-I'm down to 2 week visits now!!

Funny Potty Time

As most of you know, we are still trying really hard to potty train Gwen. Yesterday we had a rather funny potty time that I thought I'd share. Robbie had come home from work for lunch and put Gwen on the potty since she had told him she had to "poo". After about a minute and a half, two minutes Gwen did her normal thing and yelled "Dada, I went poo!" Robbie went in to take care of it and said that when Gwen stood up to pull her pants up she turned and looked in her potty at what she had done and said "Holy Chipmunks!!" I laughed so hard I cried when Robbie told me that. We have no idea where she picked that one up but got a huge laugh out of it. What a funny little girl!

Family Picture

Here's that picture that we had taken on Halloween. Neither of the girls would smile but it still turned out pretty good. Gwen wasn't too sure about going to sit on the hay bale because of the "scary" pumpkins around it. It's a better picture of the girls in their costumes than I was able to take.

Everyone is doing rather well. Robbie spent Saturday on a boat all day, fishing. He had a blast even though it was only in the 40's here. He loves his job and is very thankful that the opportunity came up when it did-a few weeks ago, the company he had previously been working for laid off a few people. We feel really blessed and know that the Lord was looking out for us. I am doing okay. Our ward was recently split, but luckily it didn't really affect us so no new changes to the Primary. The waddle is starting to set it when I'm up and around, and the turkey sign (like the little red button on the turkey that tells you when it's done) has begun- my belly button has started to show through my clothes. Grace thinks it's funny to sit and poke it back in.

The girls are doing good too. Gwen is really in a "terrible two's" stage right now. She's very defiant and has started hitting everyone and everything when she's upset or doesn't get her own way. She's still a very funny little girl. Her new thing to do is run around after Grace saying "Gracie Marjorie, come here...wait for me, Gracie Marjorie...no no Gracie Marjorie!" I guess I've scolded Grace enough times for Gwen to pick up on Grace's middle name. Grace is getting so big. She's really learning fast, and helps me count to three when Gwen is in trouble, although it's usually just saying "two" right after I say one. She's also been very big on giving kisses lately. While in the bath the other night, she would come up and have to give me a wet kiss every 10 seconds, and she did this for about 2 or 3 minutes. She's also been very sweet and has given my belly kisses too. Rob and I are so blessed to have such funny and sweet little spirits as our children.

Happy Halloween!!

It's finally Halloween!! Today was a really fun day for us all (well, mostly the girls)...

The girls watched all the Halloween shows on Playhouse Disney today, and also watched the Halloween episode of Spongebob. To top it all off they watched Wallace & Gromit-The Curse of the Were Rabbit and It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. They got to wear their special glow in the dark Halloween shirts, light up socks, and hair bows (made by mommy) today which made things a bit more special for them.

Rob's mom sent us a pumpkin decorating kit where the pieces remind me a little of Mr. Potato Head parts. Anyway, the girls had a blast picking out pieces for their pumpkins and we decorated them this afternoon before they had a snack.

They were so excited to go trick or treating too, especially Gwen. Gwen has been letting everyone know that she was going to be a butterfly this year and that Gracie was going to be Minnie Mouse. I tried my best to get good pictures but this will have to do. They were excited to get their costumes on and "go-go" to get candy. We went to a local ship and copy store in town that was taking Halloween photos for free (one 8 by 10 for each family) and got our family picture taken...can't pick it up till next week, but I'll post it when we get it. Then we went trick or treating in the neighborhood that we went to last year.

The girls both had so much fun. Gwen kept saying "I like this house...it's nice...let's go this house" and "2 more houses, then we done." She would also go up to the door and knock, say trick or treat before the door was answered, and then clam up while getting her candy. Then she would run down the stairs and say "Momma, look...I got candy!" and have me help her put it in her bag. Robbie had to carry Grace every now and then (she'd get tired) but when he put her down-look out!! She would stomp her feet over and over again while laughing hysterically, or she would dance in place while laughing, or even just take off running. They were quite pleased to come home and have a bit of their candy too-they got quite the haul! We certainly had fun, and hope that everyone else did too. Enjoy the photos!!

Can we go trick or treat mom?

Boy is Gwen getting excited about Halloween. All of her favorite shows have been airing their Halloween episodes lately and Gwen has been going around talking about Trick or Treating and singing the songs that go along with the shows. Grace doesn't have a clue, but she's still enjoying it all. We had a playgroup last week where the girls got to dress up in their costumes and decorate Halloween cupcakes...it was a lot of fun, and Gwen is more than willing now to tell everyone what she and Grace are going to be for Halloween. Right now she is running back and forth between my bedroom and hers saying trick or treat and that she's going to be a lady for Halloween (she's got her blanket wrapped around her waist like a skirt). She's such a hoot.

Because of Robbie's schedule and all the late nights he has, we decided to do our pumpkins Saturday night. Every weeknight except for Thursday he is gone until 7 pm, and with the girls going to bed at 8, it's really hard for us to find the time to do anything after he gets home besides him eating dinner and spending some time with the girls before bed. So, Saturdays and Sundays are the days for us to do things like this (though Sunday night is usually FHE for us). Robbie was nice enough to carve our pumpkin (like he didn't want to...he had so much fun)...
and the girls just painted theirs. We didn't want a big mess with them and we thought that they would have more fun painting their pumpkins instead. I supervised the painting and helped Grace when she needed more paint. Gwen is so used to painting now that she just does everything for herself. We get a flat dish (usually a tupperware lid) and squirt a bunch of different colors of paint on it for her and off she goes. Grace still has to ask for more paint because otherwise we end up with paint everywhere-the floor, the table, the chairs, her hair...everywhere. They had so much fun painting their pumpkins and are quite proud of the way they look. Gwen was a bit disappointed though that she wasn't going to get to carve her pumpkin like Daddy was.

Yesterday we also made Halloween sugar cookies and decorated them. I do something with a friend of mine once a week and the girls get the chance to play with her son, so we had them over to help as well. Grace liked eating them more than decorating them, but Gwen decorated 4 or 5 cookies (while eating the sprinkles and m&ms at the same time). We can't wait for Halloween!!

Oh, and for those of you who haven't heard Gwen's latest funny...among others this weekend, this one was probably my favorite. She was sitting at the table with Grace eating dinner while I did some laundry and without knowing I was looking, she put her fork to her mouth like a microphone, looked up at the ceiling and said, "Ladies and gentlemen...introducing the little girl who's going to take a bath!" I cracked up...she is such a hoot, and Grace is getting there too (she spazes out every time a ball is thrown and she gets to chase it). I get a laugh a day out of those two!!

6 months

So I am now six months along...after my next appointment (which is November 17th) I will start going to the doctor every two weeks for checkups. It's weird to think that this pregnancy has gone so fast all ready. Course, I'll probably get to 8 months and every week will just drag.

Every thing is fine-my blood pressure, weight, and the baby's heart beat. She's moving more and more now, and we can actually feel her move from the outside now instead of me just feeling her moving inside me. I had to do the gestational diabetes test at this visit. It actually wasn't too bad until the end when it started to get thicker. Grace just kind of watched me and then decided she wanted the bottle after I was done (I screwed the cap back on first) and Gwen decided that I wasn't drinking it fast enough and kept pushing on my arm to try to get me to drink more each sip I took. I finally had to stop her so that she didn't cause me to spill it everywhere.

After they took my blood they never said anything about my iron level or the test so I'm not sure if they had to send it out or not, but I think that they do and I won't find out anything till my next visit (in which I think I get the group B strep test). It's a good thing that my brother Matt came over to watch the girls while I went to the doctor-I don't think they would have liked seeing me get stuck with a needle 3 times. Besides getting my blood drawn for the diabetes test, I got my rogam shot (my b lood is negative, and Rob's is positive) and I got a flu shot (since they recommended it). The only one that's bothering me now is the flu shot-my upper arm is sore and there's a good sized bruise as well.

All in all, it was a good visit. Everyone else is doing good too. Rob really likes his job and is pretty certain that they are going to keep him on come January, when he starts school again. Gwen just got over a cold-no more snoring!! She has become quite the imaginative little girl. She takes books (and toys) and tells her own little stories with them. She still does lots of art, and likes to paint (or color) things and then tell us what they are. Gracie just got the cold Gwen had-more snoring!! She is talking more and more every day. She says Ta Da now and Eye and a few others too. Her favorite thing to do right now is dance, and she's constantly changing the way she dances, making up new moves and twirls. They are both so much fun and they have been so good for me through this pregnancy (ok, not all the time, but for the most part). I'm trying to enjoy every minute of it.

Quickie

Just a quick update, since I have my doctor's appointment on Monday and will probably be writing again after that. Just wanted to thank Marj for the cute pj's she sent the girls

and for the purple matching outfits-they looked so cute on the girls!! I called them my purple people eaters all day long because of their all purple outfits-both of them even kept the hoods up for more than 5 minutes! Gracie is wearing her outfit in this picture, but her messy face was what I was really trying to get.

The girls are doing great (although Gwen does have a slight cold) except for occasionally beating on each other. Oh the drama! We do have good moments though now that Grace is really starting to pick up on different words and Gwen loves to tell stories about everything-leaves, toys, books, etc...she's got a great imagination! We wish that we could visit everyone back home, specially during this time of year, but I hope these updates (and pictures) help. Oh, and thanks for the snow stuff Momma-Gwen can't wait for it to snow now! We love you all!!
