What happened to fall??

We are freezing here!! Last week we had beautiful weather, we were playing outside, wearing shorts, and then last Saturday it changed--not gradually as most seasons do, but overnight. We totally skipped the 70's and went straight to the 50's and low 60's. Of course none of the kids had pant or coats that fit them from last year so we had to make a mad dash to the store for warm clothes.

I know, I know, we have become "whimps" when it has come to cold winter weather since moving to "Hotlanta", and I have to admit I don't mind the mild winters. But to make matters worse, the kids have been on early release this week and with the weather, we have had to stay inside more than usual and find ways to entertain the kids (aka keeping them from fighting).

Well, this is Atlanta, and who knows we will probably have a heat wave for Thanksgiving and try to find some creative way to cook the turkey without heating up the house. It's like a friend of mine told me after we met--"don't ever buy a Thanksgiving sweater, you'll probably never end up wearing it."

Have you seen this man?

Have you seen this man? He is tall-6'3", weight-undisclosed, hair-black, eyes-brown and glasses. In the last month he has been spotted in; Las Vegas NV, Athens Greece, Houston TX, Philadelphia PA (twice), and Orlando FL. He is rumored to be heading to the Philadelphia area one more time this week.
If you see this man, please let him know he has a family who loves him. A family who misses him taking the kids to the bus in the morning, eating dinner with them, playing baseball/football in the backyard, and just having him around.
Seriously, WE LOVE YOU Dave/Dad!!! We know your job takes you away from us sometimes, but are grateful for the sacrifices you make for our family. See you soon!

Only in the nail salon

Yesterday, while getting my nails done, I overheard one of those conversations that just made me laugh. Two women were getting pedicures, it was obvious that they were acquaintances (they were speaking very loudly), and were discussing a mutual friend. The friend they were discussing had a set of twins--and seemed to be having some struggles with the twins. They conversations evolved into whether it was easier to have twins or to have a 2 year old and a newborn. It was apparent to me that neither of the ladies had twins or had ever had a 2 year old and a newborn. The ladies finally agreed that it was much EASIER to have a set of twin than the 2/newborn combo. I wanted to jump out of my seat the and say "Are you crazy???" Having experienced both scenarios, I would take the 2/newborn in a heart beat!!! Not that I didn't enjoy EVERY MINUTE (lol) of both situations--it was soooooo much easier when Jenson was 2 and Allie was born. Sadie and McKay were such sweet babies, but is was still hard. Even today, there are those moments when I just want to throw my hands up--like when we have to leave the house at 3:45am to catch a 7:00am flight, and the twins decided to be the "evil twins" and spend they day un-doing beds and suitcase etc. all they while laughing and saying "we are the evil twins, ha ha ha ha".
I guess the old saying holds true--don't judge someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes.

Kindergarten Rocks!!

Kindergarten has to be one of my favorite years in school for the kids. This is the 3rd (or 3rd and 4th--depends on how you look at it) time I have had kindergartners at school. I love the way the world opens up to them. The way the kids love to learn, and each new thing in exciting.

McKay and Sadie are in different classes, with teacher that have completely different teaching styles. Somehow, they both got the teacher that works best with they way learn. Both are starting to read really well, and love to read as well. They are even becoming authors themselves.

This past weekend, while we were watching our Church General Conference, the twins decided to write their very own story--It was so cute, and the two of them working on it together, was absolutely precious. They story is titled "The Cat Came In". I would love to scan the entire story in, but the cover page will have to do. Here is their story...

"The Cat Came In"

by Sadie and McKay

The Cat cams (comes) back in to or (our) back yard

And we kat (caught) the cat

And we or (are) goig (going) to kep (keep) it

And we or (are) goeig (going) to get a cat has (house)

Aftor (after) we were gon (gone) a dog came

The End

What can I say--KINDERGARTEN ROCKS
