January has come and gone!
I can't say I'm sad about that. It's my least favorite month. It really helped that we were gone for half of it. But now we're back in the swing of pharmacy-school things. That means lots of long, cold days with just a mama, lots of Disney movies, cooking, cleaning, waiting for the weekends to see daddy, coloring, play dough, and driving in the snow.
Here's a few pictures to recap the month:
One day, the kids did a major overhaul of the living room and dining room for me, and I rewarded them with these blowup dinosaurs I found at Mardens (5 dollars. woo hoo!). They actually were birthday presents that I forgot about in the back of my closet.
Sometimes we've got to get a little creative to find things to do during the freezing Maine winter. One evening we made a trip to Cabellas into a family outing. The kids basically think it's the same as going to a zoo. With tons of taxidermied animals, a giant trout aquarium, and quarter-operated shooting game, it actually provided plenty of entertainment.

One Friday night, Ri and I scored a date from our ever-giving neighbors. We finally made it to the Portland Museum of Art and saw some amazing paintings. Riley and I love to look at oil paintings, but I never imagined our little art museum would have a few Monet's and Renoir's. I was so impressed!
It was especially neat to see the Winslow Homer pieces and learn about his life on Prout's Neck, since that's where we are living right now. It made me appreciate this place even more, and Homer as an artist.
The past week or two has been filled with lots and lots of cooking and baking! We have 4 sets of stellar missionaries in our ward, and Riley is currently serving as the ward mission leader. We try to get to know these awesome people who serve us by having them over for dinner. I also was able to help with the food for a ward members baby shower. Needless to say, it's been difficult sticking to my new years resolutions with so much tasty creations happening in the kitchen!

I'm working through the Insanity workout program to help combat the effects of my baking addiction.
Last weekend, we made our way to Loon Mountain on the famous Kancamangus highway, and met Aunt Gretchin. We went through the Loon Mountain ice castles, met her step-daughter Sadie, and even got to see Princess Elsa (from that Frozen movie). The kids loved it! I loved when it was time to get back in the car and blast the heaters.
One more month of dreaded winter is over! Woo hoo!
