Merry Christmas!

We spent Christmas Eve with our best friends, the Michaelson's and their family. They have a tradition that Santa comes and gives everyone their Christmas PJs. Indie and Milo were insanely excited about Santa. It was quite funny. Especially as we don't really do Santa at our house. :) They definitely pick up on him from shows and things.

 Indie's smile says it all.
What was so great about Milo is that when it was his turn to sit on Santa's lap he had no qualms. His feet were moving before they hit the floor to run to Santa.

And of course Ever wanted nothing to do with him. :)

 Christmas Morning.
As you can tell from the kids presents, we don't go very crazy getting them things. They each get a few small gifts and then one larger family present. Every year when we get everything out and wrapped our pile is pretty small for 5 kids. And I always feel so good about that. After all, Christmas is about Christ right? We always try to find someway to help others in need and we keep our own Christmas modest.

Our first measurable snow came Christmas morning. So of course we had to have a snowball fight with the Michaelson's and the Rejholec's. What fun neighbors!
Everyone in their Christmas PJs. It was a really good quiet Christmas at home, especially after all the craziness leading up to it.

Happy Birthday Karin!

My Birthday turned out to be a good one! I got to go on a lunch date with Scott, my friend Summer made me this delicious red velvet cake and we went ice skating as a family. It was a great day.

Indie and Annicka loved the ice skating, Milo and Park were neutral.

And Park really didn't want me to take a picture of him. There are about 10 of him all blurry and running away, except this one. :)

Pre-Christmas Festivities

The following entails some of our pre-Christmas fun!
 The nativity play with cousins
 What cute shepherds!

Minson Family Christmas party minus Julie's family.
This year I participated in a community choir of The Messiah. We performed twice and it was a full house each time. It was an incredible experience! It pushed me to my limits and helped me to grow.
 Annicka's Christmas choir performance.
And gingerbread houses with the Michaelson's! One of our favorite traditions.

Park's Baptism

Park was baptized December 6th. Just a week before Grandma Chamberlain had been set apart as a full time missionary. We were so blessed that she was able to come to the baptism between her stint at the MTC and the time that she needed to drive up to Seattle.

Have you ever wondered what Park would look like without arms? Well know you know.
Everything went off without a hitch! We are so grateful for the example Park set for his younger siblings and his desire to do what's right. Doesn't he just glow?

Las Vegas

Just before Thanksgiving we decided to take a quick trip down to Las Vegas to see some friends and to get away. It was a short trip, but we had a blast!
We drove down Monday morning and in the afternoon we checked into our hotel. We got such a killer deal that we booked 2 rooms! It was awesome!
Monday after we checked in we headed a couple of blocks away to the container park to let the kids get some energy out.

Monday evening we had dinner with some friends that we call our "Jewish friends." We are the "Mormon kids." Scott and I met them on our cruise a couple of years ago. They are such a riot, we just love them. Our friendship is great for them as two of the three couples don't have any grandkids. They love to spoil ours. :)

This is Mona
 And this is Marilyn.
The kids were so exhausted that they crashed on the couch at Arnie and Mona's.
Tuesday Morning we had plans to hit the strip and see some of the sites. Our plans had to be postponed since the check engine light came on in the van and it was smelling funny. We spent the morning at a Kia dealership getting the starter and the battery replaced. So we hit the strip after getting some lunch.
We began by taking a ride on the High Roller! It was really cool. I think it was one of the favorite things that we did.
The kids went crazy dancing to the music.

And Ever loved waddling about the pod playing.
We even had a diaper change in the middle of the 30 minute ride.
 The Bellagio fountains.
On Wednesday we decided it would be good to contrast the worldliness of the strip with the peacefulness of the temple.

It was so beautiful and peaceful and hopefully the kids see what their goals in life should really be.
After the temple we headed up to Red Rock Canyon for a hike to get the wiggles out before our drive home. The kids had so much fun climbing in and out of little caves and jumping all over the place. It was a great hike for the kids.

And of course we had to stop on our drive there and back a couple of times for Milo, who hasn't quite figured out how to hold it yet. He hasn't quite figured out how to aim without getting pee all over his pants, so I had to help him out a little.
