One of those weeks...

Have you ever had one of those weeks where nothing is really "wrong", but everything you do just seems to be in order to pass the time. Well, last week was one of those weeks. Nothing was wrong, but I felt like I was just going through the motions as I went through my routine for the week: Sunday: Church & youth Bible study, Monday: Bible study & school, Tuesday: school & Bible study, Wednesday: school, Thursday: school, Friday: school... My weeks are basically the same, as I'm sure it is for most people. Sometimes (most of the time) this routine is a good thing, you always know what to expect. Well, last week, it just felt boring! BUT, the most incredible part of my job is that I have 15 little ones to remind me why I do what I do. When I got to school on Friday one of my students handed me this:Isn't that precious? It made for a wonderful day on Friday and a great weekend! I get a ton of hugs everyday! It's very easy to get wrapped up with the paperwork and such in my job, but this picture was a great reminder to me of why it's worth putting up with. I hung the picture on my window by desk and look at it often for reassurance!

Michael's Married!

This past weekend we got to see a lot of our friends we haven't seen in a while. Michael Carra got married so lots of Reed's fraternity brothers (and wives/girlfriends) came in town! It was great to get to see everyone! Cliff, Kristin and Maya stayed with us Saturday night. Matilda loved having company! The reception was wonderful and everyone had a good time. We ask that God would bless this new marriage. Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Michael Carra! We hope you are enjoying your honeymoon!

Labor Day Weekend

Ok, I know this post is LONG overdue, but as the old saying goes "better late, than never!!" We spent our Labor Day weekend between Lake Martin and Auburn. It was great! We got to spend lots of time swimming in the water and riding in the boat with these precious kids:
That is Mia (my brother's daughter) and Ian (Reed's sister's son). Aren't they both getting so big? All of Reed's family was there for the weekend and my parent's, sister and Mia came down on Monday to spend the day. There really isn't anything better than being at the lake for a long weekend. Well, maybe there is one thing. Getting to spend a long weekend at the lake AND going to the 1st Auburn football game of the season on Saturday! It was great to get to sit outside ALL day and tailgate! It got really hot in the afternoon, but it was still great to be down there! We got to see Kelly for a little bit (not long enough), but hopefully I'll be getting to see a lot more of her VERY soon!! Melissa and Johnathan even came by the tailgate for a little while. This is a typical Saturday afternoon at our tailgate. The guys are standing around the grill making inappropriate comments about hot dogs while the girls are taking group pictures. We feel truly blessed to have such great friends all around us. We miss the ones that we don't get to see as often as we'd like and hope they all decide to move home (aka Birmingham) soon! We got to sit with Jared and Nicholas at the game which made it even better! Thanks for taking care of us, guys! I miss not being at all the games and savor every minute of the ones we do get to go to.

After the game on Saturday we drove back to the lake so that we could spend ALL day out in the sun on Sunday, which we did! We couldn't have asked for better weather. Sunny and warm with a good breeze. Now, just because we were at the lake was no excuse for Reed and Marcus to miss the fantasy football draft. They made sure to have the internet up and running for the Sunday night draft. Yes, they are sitting outside, huddled around the laptop because that is where they could get the best signal. Well, this post is getting long so I'm going to wrap it up with a few miscellaneous pictures from the weekend. Enjoy!
