ice skating
dad, this post is for you!
my dad has been taking my nephew to ice skating lessons for the past couple of months and a long time ago few weeks ago my niece and i went to watch and cheer on tré. he is by far the youngest, smallest & cutest kid in the class. and no, i'm not biased! he is only 3, but he is doing such a good job skating -- he even keeps his ankles straight which in ice skating is a big deal! he is/was in the toddler class so there isn't much technical skill involved. his class basically consists of his teacher throwing balls, rings and other objects out on the ice and the kids have to walk/skate around to pick them up and put them back in the bucket. i guess tré was tired of going back and forth to the bucket because he started pushing the bucket around the ice rink to the toys! his teacher also puts out cones for the kids to practice skating around, except as she is putting them out, tré skates behind her and picks them up! it has taken me so long to get this post up that he has actually graduated from the toddler class into the level 1 class.
here are a few pictures from mine and mia's trip to watch tré skate:
as i was downloading the pictures, i found some other old pictures from the art show at the preserve. mia, prompted by my sister, was about to touch the most disgusting creature God ever created. i have a SERIOUS fear/distaste for this creature. it made my skin crawl just to look at these pictures. anyway, i thought this picture was funny because she was touching it, but wouldn't look at it and even kept her eyes closed! that's my girl!!
i couldn't end the blog with a picture of that disgusting thing, so here's a picture of tré when he realized i was taking pictures of him and one of our sweet matilda all ready for Christmas.

on repeat.
i have been listening to this song by brooke fraser on repeat for about 2 weeks now. i am in love with the lyrics. i've sat down and listened to this song and read the lyrics over and over the past few days. they are amazing. you can read the lyrics below and listen to the music on the iPod on the side -- just scroll through until you find desert song by brooke fraser.
this my prayer in the desert
when all that's within me feels dry
this is my prayer in my hunger and need
my God is the God who provides
this is my prayer in the fire
in weakness, or trial, or pain
there is a faith proved of more worth than gold
so refine me Lord through the flame
i will bring praise
i will bring praise
no weapon formed against me shall remain
i will rejoice
i will declare
God is my victory and He is here
this is my prayer in the battle
when triumph is still on it's way
i am a conquerer and co-heir with Christ
so firm on His promise i'll stand
i will bring praise
i will bring praise
no weapon formed against me shall remain
i will rejoice
i will declare
God is my victory and He is here
all of my life in every season
you are still God
i have a reason to sing
i have a reason to worship
i will bring praise
i will bring praise
no weapon formed against me shall remain
i will rejoice
i will declare
God is my victory and He is here
this is my prayer in the harvest
where favour and providence flow
i know i'm filled to be emptied again
the seed i've recieved i will sow

glory in the highest
friday night we went to see chris tomlin and louie giglio in this:
with michael and shelley. it was awesome. tomlin is an amazing worship leader and it was a great way to jump into Christmas. louie went through the Christmas story using nothing but scripture. it was incredibly refreshing. it's funny how we always seem to add to this Story to make it more interesting or more entertaining, but the real story is always better. we are trying very hard this year not to get wrapped up in the "stuff" that surrounds Christmas and trying instead to keep our focus on the real story, Luke 2:1-20.
we have been busily getting prepared to celebrate, but we seem to have hit a road block because our family room is still covered in boxes. the lights and wreaths on the house are up (thanks husband!), the tree is up (without lights or decorations), the garland for the stairs is still in boxes (oops), the stockings are hung (yeah!) and the mantel is 1/2 way complete (or 1/2 way uncomplete). i guess it is a good thing i'm not going to school tomorrow -- hopefully, i will get motivated to finish the decorating so we can enjoy the rest of the Season without the boxes.
i hope everyone is having a wonderful start to their Christmas Season! try to keep Christ at the center of your Christmas this year -- it is only because of Him that we have a reason to CELEBRATE! we love you Jesus!
