BAUNG! BAUNG!
Finally, the BTN camp was over…and last Wednesday morning, we had our compulsory psychology test…and currently we are in the short mid-sem break, which lasts 4 or 5 days (depend on whether a student got skip class or not la…)
Haih… Ordinary days will resume on Tuesday… and the mid-sem exam in early of May is coming very soon…
Here is a brief description of my experience in BTN program. Basically, it is a fun and educational experience, maybe due to I have some interest bout politics issues… and it’s not very tiring and torturing as what we had imagined before…It’s not something in the form of military training…
The accommodation was in satisfaction…and during the camp, most of the Chinese guys stayed in the same room… Therefore, we had great fun time whenever we were in the room…especially when Muslims went for their prayer and during the sleeping time in late night…
Then bout food…based on quality, I think it was normal but still ok for me…as long as I still have appetite to finish them…But, pitifully, the quantity of dishes for every meal was always very very few, especially the vegetables… and we were not allowed to add more dishes even though the rice was still a lot…
The physical activities in the camp were not many and not very hard… Just a physical test and a 2km run that were counted for marks…while the other activities such as aerobic were just for fun… The Futsal competition for guys (girls played netball) in the final evening was surely the climax of everything!!! Everyone enjoyed themselves by playing on the field and shouting and applauding when became supporters… The game had made some impact on tightening the relationship among camp participants and even between participants and coaches who often showed strict and serious look during formal occasion…Instead, those coaches are human, and they had their humorous side also…
The talk for 4 topics was quite nice also…the well-prepared speakers added some jokes in their presentation…Totally, those talk were not very boring except the topic of ‘Rakyat’ but brought some knowledge bout Malaysia’s history, politics, economy… My tiredness throughout the camp was due to the boring LDK (Latihan Dalam Kumpulan) which lasted 16 hours in 2 days… Small groups were formed and each group was lead by a facilitator to do discussion and ‘brain-washing’…
After a paper exam and a simple closing ceremony on final day, the camp came to its end.

Throughout the program, I was amazed that all the facilitators, coaches and officers for this BTN were so patriotic and passionate towards country…All of their talks and speeches during the activities brought the message of loving Malaysia…but honestly, we really can’t blindly support and agree with every actions and decisions of Government… and finally, the other impact of this camp is a new kosa kata “Baung! Baung!” has added into our life…Haha!
After going through a few activities with Malays such as orientation in KMK and KUTPM, and then this BTN camp…I learnt the benefits of Malaysia as an Islamic nation…Hehe…because for non-Muslims, we had some free time to rest during the hectic program when Muslims went for their prayers, 5 times per day…The longest one surely was at night, after dinner la…
Ok… Currently…despite have no choice but to wait for the coming exam, I am waiting for Thomas Cup tournament also…Malaysia has a strong team this time and really wish them can win the cup before I fly to our arch-rival country in badminton…I want to see our Bukit Mertajam fellows, Lee Chong Wei and Chew Choon Eng lift Thomas Cup!!! Dreaming… or it will be a reality soon??
