Crochet lovin'

I was just thinking yesterday how on my communion day, I wore a white crochet dress & fresh flowers in my hair. It brought a little smile to my face just thinking about it! So I'm now on the search for a similar dress -just this time in cream. I want one to wear with a floppy hat, vintage brown ankle boots & numerous bracelets & rings. I'm determined to put this outfit together before I leave NYC.

Hope you have enjoyed this little bit of inspiration.

Internship Diary #5

As Fashion Week is fast approaching (only one more week!!) things are starting to heat up here in NYC. From next Monday on, I will be doing 3 full-time internships -with Foundfuture Press & Sales, with an NYC Stylist & of course, with Whitney Port. Today I have a day off & as you can imagine, I am cherishing it immensely because these type of days are going to become extremely scarce for the next few weeks. I am going to have LOTS to blog about & show you -but first, let me give you a little update on what I've been getting upto at Foundfuture...

Last week, my boss at the internship, Shannon, told me that we had to go meet a designer about 4 blocks away to pick up a piece for her display in the showroom. It was one of those really hot & sticky days in NYC, so I wasn't over the moon about the idea of having to face the heat! But of course, I didn't complain & agreed to come along. After about 5/10 minutes of walking, we didn't find the designer but instead......a NAIL SALON. It was all a trick to surprise me with a manicure & pedicure in a Salon in Soho. I honestly don't think I could ask for a better job & boss!

For those of you who follow my Facebook Page, you will know that I recently modeled for a SS13 Lookbook for one of our clients, Lambillotte. We shot 15 looks over the space of 2 days, so it was a lot of work but also a lot of fun! The Lookbook should be printed in the next few weeks, so as soon as it's ready I'll post a link.

On Monday, Sara (The Press Director) & I had a meeting with the accessories editor at W Magazine, so we went to their main NYC office to show 3 of our clients' collections. It was such an amazing experience to be able to sit in on this type of meeting & I'm so grateful that this internship has provided me with such experiences. Everything that I'm wearing is from Lambillotte & I love how clean-cut the whole outfit is.

As I mentioned, it's about to get very busy indeed -so keep your eyes peeled for upcoming posts about what I get up to during Fashion Week. I'm so excited for what lays ahead!

Hope you're having a good week :)

Outfit Post: Dip-dye fringe

I got this cool fringed top from Lavish Alice -it actually had longer fringing but I chopped it up a bit to make it a little easier to wear. The shorts are DIY & are made from a pair of mens jeans I found in a random store in queens for $5 & the white cardigan (which has a cute hood) is from a thrift store. So a very inexpensive outfit as usual!

I wore this last weekend when we went to the Rockefeller Center to see "Top of the Rock" -which gives you a view of the whole city. It was really amazing & it kind of made me realize what a cool place I've been living in for the past 3 months. Take a look at the view....

As always you can HYPE my look on Lookbook.nu. I really love doing these outfit posts, they're my favorite thing to feature on the blog. So hopefully you like them too :)

I have loads of posts planned for this week -things are getting very exciting here in NYC!

Hope you've had a nice Monday :)

Styling: Ashes & Ghosts for The Intern Magazine

Photography | Saibh Egan
Hair & Grooming | Makeup by Flora
Model | Patrick @ Absolute The Agency
Styling | Erika Fox (Retro Flame)

Back in May, I styled my first male photo shoot...& this is how it turned out. I was so delighted to recently recieve an email, while here in NYC, from Saibh Egan (the photogrpaher) telling me it had been featured in The Intern Magazine. It was really different to be styling a guy for a change, but I definitely look forward to doing more of it in the future. Hair & grooming was done by the lovely Flora & the model is Patrick from Absolute the Agency. I'm really looking forward to being reunited with my little dream team (Saibh & Flora)...we have LOTS planned for the coming season, so stay tuned!.

Also, speaking of Saibh -she is currently here in the Big Apple & I'll be meeting her this Saturday which I am extremely excited about! I'm sure we might just take a picture or two :)

Hope you are all having a lovely Thursday.

Outfit Post: Vintage at Long Beach

I had the most amazing weekend at Long Beach. Beautiful would honestly be an understatement...

The skirt I'm wearing is Vintage. I found it during the week in my favorite NYC store, 'No Relation Vintage' -for 4 dollars! Paired with a simple white tee, it was perfect for a laid-back beach day.

Refinery29 Feature: Closet Curveballs

Watch the video HERE

A few weeks back, I took part in a video shoot for the hugely popular US Website -Refinery29. It was such a nice compliment to be asked to take part & I'm really happy with how it turned out. Refinery29 teamed up with Lily of France to shoot a "Closet Curveballs" video -where I had to model & speak about 3 outfits which I would wear in 3 very different scenarios. I must admit, it's a little hard to watch myself in this video (I guess you're always your own biggest critic) but it was such an amazing experience & I got the chance to work with really great and inspiring people. I hope to get the chance to do more of these kind of shoots again in the future, as presenting, etc. is something I would love to gain more experience in. So take a look for yourself by clicking HERE & be sure to let me know what you think!

I mentioned yesterday on my Facebook Page that I was going to be interviewed on Radio Kerry about my NYC experience so far. So the interview was recorded just a few hours ago & it will be aired tomorrow at 2:00pm -if you want to have a listen :)

Hope you're all having a great week!

New York Fashion Week Internship

So, this is probably the most exciting thing that I'm about to write on this little blog of mine.....Ever.
I don't even know where to start, but here goes nothing.....

It's just been confirmed that I am Whitney Ports' intern for New York Fashion Week!!!

I applied for the internship a few weeks back -emailed her agent my resume & cover letter, didn't think too much about it & of course, reminded myself it was a long shot. This morning at 11:58am (to be quite exact), I received an email to say that they would be delighted to have me on the team. If today isn't the most perfect day, then I don't know what perfect is.

So I'll be interning with her & her team from the 5th of September on, in preparation for her NYFW Show on September 12th. I'll be assisting at the Lookbook shoot, helping with all the fashion week prep & working at the Fashion week show! She recently graced the cover of Company Magazine & is currently,of course, a very popular judge on Britain & Ireland's Next Top Model. So I am beyond excited to be working with someone this cool!

Like most girls I know, I've seen every single episode of 'The Hills' & 'The City' and Whitney has always been my favorite. She seems so down-to-earth and hard-working & I honestly can't even begin to describe how excited & grateful I am to be getting a chance to intern for her & her brand, Whitney Eve

I should know more details in the coming days, so of course I'll keep you all updated.

They really weren't kidding, were they.. when they said New York was a pretty amazing place!

Erika x
