Last night we went to the "Hymns of Thanksgiving," which is a free concert of Thankgsiving songs. It's a really good concert and they always have new songs. This year they had one called "Count your Blessings Instead of Sheep," by Iving Berlin. I really like the words (althought the tune wasn't my favorite). So Here's the song:
When I'm worried and I can't sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep.
And I fall asleep counting my blessing.
And when my bankroll is getting small, I think of when I had none and all.
And I fall asleep counting my blessings.
I think about a nursery and I picture curly heads.
And one by one I count them as they slumber in their beds.
So if you're worried and you can't sleep, just count your blessings instead of sheep.
And you'll fall asleep counting your blessings.
As a person who worries a lot, I really liked the words to this one. Plus I love Thanksgiving and thinking of all the things we are blessed with. I'm so Thankful for my family. They are a great joy to me. I'm Thankful for our wonderful birthmothers and the sacrifices they made so that we could we could be a family. I'm Thankful for the health of my Dad, Kurt, and that he has been doing so well and has not had any recurrences of cancer. I'm Thankful for the health of all our family and the freedom we enjoy in this country. Happy Thanksgiving!

Britton's music
I've been working on a CD we're making for Britton for Christmas and I just think Britton's taste in music is so funny. Dustin says I've been brainwashing him to like my music, but Britton really has a pretty varried music list. On his CD I've put some children's songs from preschool, some primary songs and then the rest are songs from CD's we have or things he's heard on the radio. He has loved Queen for a long time so there are a couple Queen songs on there. What really makes me laugh is he loves Simon and Garfunkle's Mrs. Robinson. It was on one of my mixed CD's and he loves it! He also likes a couple Beatle's songs and some other oldies as well. Britton really likes hard rock too, and I put two Green Day songs on the CD (the cleanest I could find) and he likes the new Pink song, but I didn't put it on there because I don't want him to learn the words! The CD is almost done now and I think he'll really like it. We're trying to simplify our Christmas this year and each of the boys are getting a home made gift and fewer presents. They'll be just as happy with less and we're hoping they'll be less spoiled for it too. We just love Britton's style. He's one Rockin' kid!

A big day for both boys!
We're had an exciting week at our house. On Wednesday we went to a Stealheads Hockey game and Britton got to ride on the Zamboni during one of the period breaks! He's talked about doing it for a long time so Dustin surprised him by arranging for a ride. When it came time to do it, he was really nervous. At first he said he didn't want to do it and then he said "I'm going to do it. I'm going to be brave." We were so proud. We could tell he was really scared but he did it anyway. He is getting so big. Once he was done with is ride, they gave him 3 real hockey pucks and Britton thought that was awesome. He talks about his Zamboni ride all the time now and tells everyone about it. He's proud of himself for going too. Britton is such a great kid! He is fun to take places. He makes any activity fun to do and we love watching him enjoy himself.
Today is also an exciting day for Benjamin too. Our little baby is growing up and today he has moved up to a big boy bed! We can't believe it. He is really excited about his new bed. He's taking a nap in it now. He did get out of bed when I put him down but I just laid him back in bed now and he's sleeping. Luckily he doesn't have any toys in his room to distract him. All he has is books and I don't think he's thought of that yet. We can't believe how fast Benjamin is growing. He is talking so well now and he can communicate without words really well too. We always know what he's thinking because he lets us know! He is so much fun and makes us laugh everyday. He tries to do whatever Britton is doing and Britton loves teaching him too. They are both at such great ages and they are both so much fun! We love having our boys!

Our last camping trip of the year.
This weekend we went camping on our last campout of the season to Givens Hot Springs. It was so much fun! The boys love swimming and thought it was great that the pool was warm. We went swimming 3 times and the boys got braver and braver. Britton was jumping in the water and Benjamin wanted to swim by himself with his water wings. That baby was trouble. He thinks he can swim. They both had a great time though. When we weren't swimming, Britton was driving the owner's golf carts. The owners of Given Hot Springs are the nicest people. They asked Britton how old he was and when he said 4, they said that was old enought to drive! He was so excited. He just had to have one of us with him.

Britton's angry works of art
Tonight Britton was mad at me. I'm not even exactly sure why he was mad, but he yelled at me that he was "going to draw a picture!" When he was finished he taped two picture up on the wall. They are both pictures of me, crossed out. He said they mean "no you Mom!" Apparently he felt better after drawing the pictures because when he got ready for bed he asked me to clothes my eyes and then he put his clothes in the laundry room. He wanted to surprise me by doing his "job" without being asked. He's a funny kid. I'm going to keep the pictures to show him in later years. I must say the angry pictures are a nice change from the days when he used to bite and pinch me. Progress! And way funnier!
