The Steelhead's mascot "Blue" visited the kids while they were waiting to go onto the ice.

Tonight was Britton's last hockey practice and he had a last minute opportunity to play a Mighty Might game during a Steelhead's hockey game. During one of the period breaks, the Mighty Mights play a five minute game in the arena. It was a packed house too. Britton did a great job. It is something he's always wanted to do, and it was a great way to finish off his hockey playing days.

Yesterday we took Britton skiing for the second time and he did so awesome! He rode one of the bigger chair lifts and we took him on 3 different runs on the big hill. He figured out his turns really well and now he really wants to use poles. He steals mine when we get to the bottom of the hill. It's been so much fun teaching him how to ski! It helps that he's a fast learner.

Loving Winter

Look at him go!
The magic carpet. Britton was great at getting on and off the carpet. He rode this the first few times down the hill.
Britton has been playing hockey and loves it, but we're not willing to devote as much time as it takes for him to be really competitive, so this weekend we introduced Britton to skiing. We're hoping to wean him off of hockey and on to skiing.

At first Britton was really clingy and he fell once and wanted to go home. We told him that wasn't an option and convinced him to try one more time. The day was really foggy and then all of the sudden the clouds cleared, and at the same time, Britton's attitude changed, he got his confidence and he decided he loved skiing! He got good at it really fast and in no time he was ready for the real chair lift and he was challenging us to a race to the bottom! He is awesome! I wish I had his confidence and athletic ability. He's amazing!

We went to the McCall winter carnival this weekend and had a great time playing in the snow! The kids thought the sculptures were pretty cool, but they really wanted to go sledding. After spending a couple hours in town fighting the crowds we went to the golf course to sled. Britton had the best time! there was a jump on the hill and once he found out about that, he spent the rest of the time catching air. He's a brave kid! Poor Benjamin only went down the hill a couple times. After our first trip down, he got hit in the face by another kid coming down the hill. He had a little bloody nose and lip. After that, he wasn't up for much sledding. We dug holes in the snow instead. Benj thought that was pretty great. He did manage to get one more run in on the sledding hill before we left though. Overall, it was a good time.
