Memorial Day Camping!

We got to go camping for Memorial Day and went to Ponderosa State Park.  We love Ponderosa. They have great campgrounds.  This was our first campout of the year, which is pretty late for us.  We were all really excited to go and had a great time together as a family.  We got in around 6:00 and set up camp. Then we started a fire and made 'smores.  The boys were so excited about the 'smores.

Not only was this Caden's first time camping, it was also his first time sleeping in a play pen.  Crazy, right?  He did great!  He slept as well as he does at home and really loved being outdoors.  On Saturday we woke up and went into McCall for breakfast at the Pancake House. We love that place!  Seriously, how can you go wrong with plate size cinnamon rolls?  Then we hit a couple of garage sales because Caden fell asleep and it was better to just keep driving. We got some awesome deals on some scooters for our child care center.  Later we took the kids geocaching.  That night we didn't feel much like making a fire (well, Dustin and I didn't) so we stayed in and played card games with the boys.  Benjamin became a pro at Go Fish and Britton has a new love of Racko.  We also completed Britton's first bead requirement for cub scouts.

Sunday was a little wet but not bad.  We did some more geocaching and charged up Britton's remote controlled  boat and took it down to the lake.  It was a big hit. When we got back to camp the kids made friends with the neighbors and spent the evening playing with them.

Monday morning was sunny and nice. We headed back into town for another visit to the Pancake House and then packed up and headed home.  Caden even slept through the whole drive. We finished up the night with a visit to our favorite shaved ice place.

Seriously, how cute are these brothers?

Am I happy or mad?  I don't know!
I love this one. The boys call this Caden's "bugsy eyes."

Caden turns 4 months tomorrow but we started cereal a couple days early. Shhh!  Don't tell.  He's a natural eater!  He couldn't be more happy about his cereal.  I love how he's holding up his shirt!  He finally has a full tummy and he's so happy about it!
Just cute!

Happenings

We have been very busy at our house.  Benjamin just finished preschool for he year and on Monday and Tuesday I will have my end of preschool parties for my class.  I've already taken down the preschool room in preparation for moving the office back downstairs.  Britton will be getting his own room. He says he's a little scared because he'll miss Benjamin. That's pretty sweet.

Britton finished soccer last night. This is the last year his team played together. They have been playing together for the past 4 years and they are really good.  They only lost one game this season. We are really going to miss the team.  Britton will be trying out for a select team for the Fall and so will some of the other players.

Benjamin got to go to a birthday party yesterday and he was so excited because he got to dress up as Batman and they gave him a cape as a party favor.  He wore his Batman mask all day yesterday in preparation for the party.

Caden is getting very strong. He can push up now and is pretty proud of himself.  He still won't sleep through the night.  He gets to start on rice cereal next week when he is 4 months old and hopefully that will help.  Mommy's tired!

Did I mention we're building a child care center?  It is going up so fast!   We have an awesome builder and we're told the building will be finished no later than August 15th.  We're getting calls for enrollment several times a week.  It's an exciting venture!  We'll be having an open house before we open so everyone can see it.  It's pretty awesome!

It's Great to be 8!

May 3rd, Britton turned 8 years old.  We have had a very busy weekend celebrating his birthday.  We started out the day with Krispy Kreme donuts in the morning and then met Britton at school for lunch.  We got him a 10 piece nugget meal for himself. He was pretty excited.  When he got home from school we opened presents.  We got Britton a Red Rider BB gun and he was sooo excited!  He is such a good shot too!

In my family it was a tradition to get to go to a special dinner with just our mom or dad on our 8th, 12th and 16th birthday.  This year we decided to carry on that tradition and took Britton out for dinner to a Japanese steak house.  He loved getting to go on a date with just us and thought the whole cooking in front of us thing was awesome.  He said it was the best birthday ever.

Friday Britton's birth mother, Jami, came into town and we hung out together.  it was great to have her in town. Britton was so excited and it really made the weekend special. Saturday was a big day because Britton got to be baptized!  He was so cute and so happy.   We had a lot of family in town to support him including Dustin's mom and step-dad, his sister and her family and his brother and his family, my mom and step-dad, my sister and her family, and Dustin's cousin.  Britton was so excited that everyone came and especially that his cousins were able to come.

Sunday was a big day for our family too because Dustin not only got to confirm Britton, but he also got to bless Caden. Caden's birth mother was also able to come and it was great to have her there.  Caden was so cute and just smiled and smiled at her.  Caden looked so cute in his little white outfit.  It was a busy weekend filled with a lot of family, food and fun!

Britton showing he's 8.  He has grown up so fast and is such an awesome kid!  He is a great brother, student, athlete, example and kid. We love you Britton!
