Basic Schedule

Here's the basic schedule for our trip back to the states.

Sept 12-Arrive 8:40 pm in LR
Sept 13-Jer goes to Kerusso, Eliza stays in Cabot
Sept 16-Eliza, and hopefully dad, go to cousin Jeremy's wedding in Nebraska
Sept 18 or 19-meet back up with Jer
Sept 19-21-be in Stillwater, OK
Sept 21-26-be in Texas at Jer's aunt Cheri's
Sept 26-spend night with Marlars in Dallas
Sept 27-Oct 1 be back in Cabot
Oct 1-leave LR 3:45 pm

If anyone in the central AR area has a car we can borrow for our adventures, that'd be much appreciated. It'd save us over $1000. We're happy to pay some for it but that's a bit much!

Somehow, I managed to have my birthday with Jer's family, but not with them on Audrey's, my niece, birthday. Maybe we can do a joint party while we're there for family. :-)

Camp Pictures and Conundrum

Family Camp Pictures

I put up some pictures of family camp. I realized when I got home that I didn't take pictures of everything, so these are pictures of the first bit of camp.

I'm debating about selling my macbook and buying 2 ipads (one for me and one for jer). Jer's been bugging and bugging me about the ipad since they came out over here last week. There's pluses and minuses of this.

Plus:
2 things for the price of one
small, more portable
10 hour battery
be able to do more work in more places rather than just at my desk
-might update blog more. :-)
-church stuff done while cooking/spending time with jer
-recipes on a screen in the kitchen
ebooks, if i want
won't need to buy any more sudoku books. :-)
possibly less stuff when traveling
less electricity for all the stuff i connect to my computer now
jer will get off my back!!

Minus:
no direct printing as of yet
slower document making
no second monitor (i have one now)
learn new interface
have to use jer's computer to get some itunes stuff to said ipad

ok, i know some of those pluses i should be able to do with my laptop, but rarely bring it downstairs because i'd have to unplug everything.

thoughts??

Tired

Plenty has been going on to prevent me the time of posting.

1. Family camp is coming up. Jer and I are in charge. :-)
2. I'm in charge of planning the sermon/class series after family camp.
3. Trip to Rotorua. Planned quick, but a good thing to get out of town for a while and see our friends. We've decided we should stop calling ahead b/c someone in their family gets really sick, usually goes to hospital even, when we call and say we're coming. The theory is if we just show up, this won't happen. That sounds logical, right?
4. Life. Work, church, sleep. That's what I do.

So we have been using another library's shelver lately when ours is gone on vacation. She points to the kids section and says, "It's all out of order!". I think my exact reply was, "Probably", then I went on my way. She was stunned. Our library is always out of order. You come to realize this quickly. You may wonder how we can stand this, esp. since we're librarians. But really you get over it. I think I even shelved a kids non-fiction in a wrong place b/c the whole shelf was out of order and didn't think twice about it. We just don't have time to fix it. Now you may wonder how we find things. We just do. One, we do fix things, just not as often as other libraries. Two, we know how they think. Three, we don't. :-) We'd have to escort people around the library to keep them from getting everything a mess. And since we're a small library with a huge turnover we just do what we can to keep people happy. That's point of the retail library anyhow. Customers first. forget about checking in or the backroom work. Keep the customers happy. If you wonder how many people average, we get about 1500 on Saturdays. I don't know about the rest, that's the only one i know.
