the litte chicks: Tiger and Barney
So I was driving back from the airport and saw some people selling squash on the side of the road and had to stop. I soon realized that they were also selling little chicks and I was reminded of the little chicks Mehrsa and I had as pets when we were kids in Iran and I had to buy them.
Kian was thrilled and after a few days named them Tiger and Barney (without any help)
This is a scary shot. Darian of course loves these chicks as much as Kian but we are afraid that he will pull a "Lenny" (of mice and men) and squash the poor little chicks so we try to keep him away. Although I did have to pull one of the little chicks out of his grip already, luckily he was unmaimed and only a little nervous.

A few shots of our new house
The front view
Our gate. Unfortunately, most of the homes here have gates, barbed/electric wire, guards, guard dogs, alarms, panic boxes, etc. So needless to say none of the neighbors have brought us cookies yet.
This is the little house next to our house that Monica (our amazing new babysitter lives with her daughter Jennifer)
This is the side view of our house. Yes, that is our washing machine outside chained up to our pole.

So we moved to Malawi . . .
We have been transitioning to life here. Jeff is in orientation to start work at Baylor's Pediatric AIDS Initiative clinic here and I'm doing a Fulbright on judicial reform. Kian as you can see is loving life playing with some new friends at a Malawian attorney's house (Vita) that we were invited to the first Sunday we were here.
So our first week here was a little rocky. Our house wasn't ready so we lived in a hotel for a week. Darian was sick for about two weeks (he's just getting better now) and we didn't have internet (which is a necessity up there with water and food). Anyway, now we have all of our basic necessities and we can move on to more important things like updating friends on our recent happenings.
