lessons in parenting...

ok yes, yes i know I havent posted in forever and YES I know I have not been very good at keeping up with my blog period this year, but hey it is yet again one of my New Year's resolutions so whatev...anywho i have been having one of those days, you know the one where you want to pull your hair out and chops your ears off and anywho i decided to check some of my friends blogs to see if they too have had a day like mine and what do you know?? I stumble upon a friends blog that has offered up life lessons on parenting and i laughed so hard i was crying and snort-laughing at the same time so i just had to share, pics are all mine of course and most seems to follow the said lessons...anywho here we go with:

Lesson 1
1. Go to the grocery store.
2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
3. Go home.
4. Pick up the newspaper.
5. Read it for the last time

Lesson 2
Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their...
1. Methods of discipline.
2. Lack of patience.
3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.
4. Allowing their children to run wild.
5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breast feeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior. Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3
A really good way to discover how the nights might feel...
1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)
2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.
3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM.
4. Set the alarm for 3AM.
5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial.
6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.
7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.
8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.
9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive)Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4
Can you stand the mess children make? To find out...
1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.
2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.
3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.
4. Then rub them on the clean walls.
5. Take your favourite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.
6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does that look?

Lesson 5
Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.
1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.
2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.
Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6
Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that.
1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment. Leave it there.
2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.
3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.
4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 7

Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys.

Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 8

1. Hollow out a melon.

2. Make a small hole in the side.

3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.

4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.

5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.

6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9

Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Wonderpets, Disney, The Backyardigans, Dora the Explorer, Wow,Wow,Wubzy and Thomas the Train. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Nick Jr. for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's 'Nick Jr.?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10

Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy'; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11

Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

and there you have it...now dont you just want to laugh/smile/cry/snort-laugh!!! ah ha I feel better now! :-) LOL!!!!!!!!!!

(IMPORTANT): never share this with couples who dont have children yet, you will scare the living HELL out of them! and yes i just said that!

HE DID IT, HE DID IT!.....

I know I have been on like a five month hiatus which, actually it was my New years resolution to keep up on my blog once a week, but hey what can I say when you have 3 kiddos, your in school, working part-time and your hubby is in school FULL-TIME and has clinical and works part-time as well, things seem to fall on the way side. i'm going to try to update everything sometime this week if I can get my camera to cooperate and let me get my pictures off of the stupid thing....anyway off on tangents now....now to get what this post is all about...like the title says "HE DID IT! HE DID IT!....no we are not talking the kids we are talking my Hubby.

After a very long, exhausting, hard, trying, exciting 3 years my Hubby is now officially an RN. he passed his boards and did so well!!! he was so worried, because that test is sooooo freakin TOUGH! to say the least, but I always knew he would pass, he is so smart, he studied incredibly hard and I just couldnt be more proud of him....Babe thank you for all of your hard work and dedication, no matter how tough things got for you at times, you always put your family first and managed to find a great balance for both. I'am so proud of you, I'am so proud to call myself your wife. I love you more than anything else and I'am so glad I have your hand to walk me through forever!...I love you, I love you....Love, Tiff

anywho here is the officially pic. from the website telling us he passed:
Nate was also successful at getting a job at Mercy Hospital on the cardiac floor. all he needed to do was pass boards, now that he has done that, he can now start and we are one step closer to masters!....once again I Love you Babe and I'am so proud of all of your many accomplishments!

holy potaoes, where do we begin!.....

It seriously has been FOREVER since we have posted something special I know, but literally we have been so BUSY, so SICK and just a little unmotivated to blog at all, plus most everyone catches updates from me on facebook anyway, but for those that dont have a facebook and for family and for journaling sake a post is LONG overdue...anywho I thought I would break each little event down with its own post so here we go......

Our SICK new year and some randomness...

The New year started out Sickly for us, starting with me getting strep throat and My Dear, Sweet, bestest, friend Robyn taking me to the E.R. on new years night for being badly dehydrated...we didnt get home til' 1:30 in the morning, isn't she the best! "I just Love you Robyn, you are the kindest, most giving, most nurturing, super smart and most beautiful person I have ever met! and I Love you dearly and I cherish our friendship so!" you are the best! THANK YOU!!!....from there it just got better and better, Nate got strep too and we were literally on our death bed for 2 days straight! ("MOM-thank you so much, for all you did and all you do, we wouldnt have survived without you!") thanks to Nates mom we were very well taken care of as she did everything for us and Nate's dad took us both to the Dr. (thank you again!). Doc said it was one of the worst cases of strep he had ever seen!...oh but wait it gets better Chase got strep so bad his tonsils bled for days on end! and he had a horrible rash from it and bad double ear infections and oh yeah he broke his nose a few days before Christmas, when Coby threw his huge Dora, ride-on car down the basement stairs and whacked Chase in the face with it...but wait there's more Coby shoved something up his nose which he got blood clots in his nose from it and had to go have surgically removed, only to find out during surgery that whatever it was had dissolved and instead his adenoids (their kind of like the tonsils of the nose)were really bad and needed to come out, so he had those out. Then he got a really bad ingrown toe-nail that became badly infected and turned in to a staph infection on his foot and had to be put on heavy antibiotics and oh yeah he got strep too and double ear infections and hasn't returned to school yet...luckily sweet Caitlyn missed the bullet on all of the above, so yeah we started out 2010 beautifully, we are all alive and somewhat well now and hope that Coby returns to school tomorrow finally, because Nate and I started school this week and we need a break!....oh and by the way ITS NATE'S LAST SEMESTER YAHHHHHH!!!!!! we have worked so hard for this and are so excited for him to graduate in April and although we are not done, by a long shot (we still have bachelor's and then grad school) this is a HUGE defeat for us, I'am so proud of my hubby, he works so HARD and is such a good man, CANT WAIT!....here's to hoping that 2010 is a great one!

Now for some random thoughts and things I have thought of and have gone down today:

1. Caitlyn hates bananas!...I know what baby hates bananas? well she does apparently, she prefers sweet potatoes, squash, rice cereal, peas, anything but, so opposite of her brothers :0)
2. Coby and I finally beat Mario Kart for Wii haha, this was a hug feat for us, we worked so hard! LOL!
3. I'am really loving the sociology classes that I'am taking they are so interesting and have made me realize alot of prejudice thoughts and feelings I didn't realize I had.
4. I'am really loving the stage my kids are at right now, even though they are alot of work, and I'm over tired, I finally feel like I have a grip on things and I'am LOVING it.
5. Chase is now signing "please", "thank you", "jump", "more", "all done" and "bottle/drink" he is also talking alot more and I LOVE IT!
6. Coby is now signing " I want", "please" "junp" "drink" and "thank you"
7. Nathan and I are really rededicating ourselves to our marriage and really trying super hard and it shows for both of us, we are so much happier and loving.
8. I really LOVE my husband and I think he gets more beautiful everyday..wait, how did I get so blessed.
9. I'am LOVING our new ward, the people, the time, the classes, the atmosphere is wonderful...although I still have love for you second ward! :0)
10. I just Love being a mom, really I do, its the best thing that has ever happened to me and I'm really trying hard to improve myself, be more nurturing, PATIENT (which is not an easy thing for me), loving, fun and more christ-like towards my children, I have a LONG way to go to where I want to be, but I'am sure going to try like heck to be the mom, my kids can be proud of. I love my kids so very much and am so thankful for all they have taught me!
11. I'am really going to try hard to blog more often, my goal is to blog at least once every two weeks, for journaling.

wow this is a long post....here's to hoping this year will be a great, because 2009 was filled with a lot of changes, hardships, and blessings....Have a great year EVERYONE!

Thanksgiving and Christmas....

ok, so we suck at getting pictures this holiday season literally got 2 pictures of thanksgiving, maybe 2 pictures of christmas and NONE of the new year, I know so sad right??....well for thanksgiving we got together with Nates family at my sis-in-law Terril's house since Baby kingston came home from the T.C.U. for a couple days, it was so great and so fun, we had so much food literally you would not believe, I had never seen so much food on one table in my LIFE we had Turkey, Ham, mashed pots & gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, wheat salad, cabbage salad, homemade rolls, green bean casserole, twice baked beans, olives, and seriously we had so much more I cant even remember, just imagine it took up a huge island, 2 counters and a buffet table, it was SOOOO yummy though! good times filled with lots of laughter, I unfortunately have no pictures of that night, my mother-in-law does though, I need to get them from her....onto christmas we unfortunately were unable AGAIN to make it to Vegas for christmas (fourth year in-a-row, yah im a little homesick :( ) and since we had just gotten together with Nates fam. for thanksgiving we decided to just have a little christmas on our own and to be honest it was nice, no rushing out the door to make somewhere, no scrambling to finish making dinner or get dressed, it was so nice and relaxing....Christmas eve I made my grandma's home-made chili, it was so yummy, but sadly it just made me that much more home-sick :0( Coby conked out early so Chase, Caitlyn, Nate and I made home-made chocolate chips cookies for Santa, they were so YUMMY and Chase loved making them. After dinner and cookie making we watched a little bit of the Santa Claus and Polar express and put the other kids to bed and then Nate and I got down to business, he put together Coby's Kitchen, Chases, Cozy Coupe Car and Caitlyn's exersaucer while I wrapped presents and stuffed stalkings, it was SOOO fun, we sipped on hot chocolate and enjoyed our quiet time together. In the morning we got up super early, because Nate had to work a few hours and had to leave by 7am, so we got the kids up, got the camera ready and brought the kids down stairs, they were so surprised and excited to see what santa had brought, we are such crappy parents though, we did not get ONE picture of Caitlyn's first christmas i'm so sad, because I didnt realize it until a few days later when I went to upload the pictures, we did get a video though:

YAH Santa Claus came!!...we literally did not put one present
under the tree until christmas eve night after, the kids went to bed
that is our new tradition, so that they know that Santa Claus came ;0)

luckily I did get a few pictures of Princess Caitlyn in her
Christmas outfit

Mommy and "The Princess" headed to a relief society Christmas dinner,
we had fun, even though on our way one of the homemade soups spilled
out of the crockpot and ALL over my back seat, yeah it was just so
wonderful, but thats what happens when some idiot ran a stop light and nearly
hit me, so I had to slam on my brakes...oh well my car still stinks (yuck)

As for Christmas dinner, well I had planned to make a Turkey with all the fixin's and some other special grandma recipes, but the stupid bird (the turkey that is) gave me such a hard time, 2 broken bags and a sprained toe later , I had had enough, so Nate told me to throw the darn thing out into the snow, well its like 12 lbs, so I had him launch the thing out into the snow for me, awwww great relief! I know, I know what a waste of food, when their are starving people in the world, but I had enough and besides all the wild-life enjoyed it anyway, so it didnt totally go to waste :0)

so here she is out in the snow, right where the darn thing belongs! LOL

hope you had a great Christmas, I know we sure did!

Caitlyn's first halloween...

Halloween was so fun, we kicked started it with our new wards Trunk or treat which was a blast even though Coby really wanted nothing to do with it and Chase really didn't either and Caitlyn didn't care either way :) but none the less we had fun and halloween was interesting we started off with going to our families halloween party which was so fun we dined on the traditional, yummy sloppy joes and chips and drinks. It was so cute to see all the kids and cousins in their costumes and even some of the parents ;0)anywho after the party we were going to walk my bro and sis-in-laws neighborhood for trick or treating, but it was SOOO cold and windy, so we had the *bright* Idea (sarcasm screams out) that we would take the kids to the mall...oooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDD idea, literally shoulder to shoulder with people all to get a stupid tootsie roll, yah NEVER, EVER again! Coby and crowds do not mesh well together and he started screaming and pitching the biggest fit ever, needless to say we had to carry him out kicking and screaming and I unfortunately had to tell off some IGNORAMOUS woman who told me that we needed to muzzle our child and beat and get a grip on him, I had had enough of people's ignorant comments about my autistic child, so I turned around and used some choice words with her and left her blind sided and dumb-founded, YES, I know it was not the most christ-like thing to do, but I just couldn't take it anymore, I have had so many people come up to me, when I'm out in public with sweet Coby and say the meanest things to me about my boy, Ive even been told that his autism was my fault, OK IDIOT yah its my fault! blah!...ok find your happy place, TIFF....ok anywho here are some fun pictures of my sweet babies in their costumes

Chase out turtle, Caitlyn our pink cheetah and Coby our buzz lightyear! (he literally
LOVED his costume) didn't want to take it off, how cute is that?!

dont let the grump face fool you!...he loved his costume, just wasn't loving the pictures

sisterly Love and the pumpkin patch....

Back in September my sister came for about a week...we had fun and it was so nice to bond with just her all to myself. Although she and I have always been SUPER CLOSE we have seem to drift apart the last few years since I live in Iowa and she lives in Vegas and we really are at two completely different stages in our lives since I'am four years older than she is, so it was so nice to get back some of that closeness during her visit...I love you sis and I miss you dearly you are a Beautiful, smart woman, with such a loving and giving heart...anywho we spent the week watching shows, doing MOUNDS of my laundry haha!! (you know you loved it sis!) LOL, we went to lunch, did some shopping, went to the apple orchard/pumpkin patch and truly the week went by so fast its hard to remember what else we did.....the day we went to the apple orchard was seriously so, so cold! and we were not prepared at all for it, Caitlyn stayed in her car seat the entire time totally bundled and the rest of us with the exception of Coby and Chase...froze!...anywho here are some pictures...
