Happy Birthday Little Cowboy!

Today, January 31st, my Little Cowboy turned three years old!  We celebrated at Grandma Sandra's yesterday with all the family.  Lane wanted a "Cowboy" cake.   We were also celebrating our cousin Kevin's birthday...so they got to share the cake!

Lane loved having the attention.  He also loved opening presents!  Check out these big trucks with trailers...just what he needs to haul all his horses.

Ready, set, bl0w....everyone helped blow out the candles (after the real birthday kids had blown them out)

Party #2 was held today on his real birthday!  My mom cooked a delicious meal for all of us.  We had "football" cake, ice cream, and opened presents.

Lane scored some new cowboy attire...chaps, spurs, bandanna, six shooters, and a cool red lariat.

He also got the horse...soft and cuddly!  Not the kind you have to care for and feed!
This little guy is a character.  We love his personality and love for life.  Happy Birthday buddy--we love you!

Not so good life...

So, after I posted that last post titled, "Livin' the good life"  I came down with a wicked ear infection.  I had been suffering from a small cold since I got home from the hospital with Griffin.  I guess the cold decided to settle in my left ear.  I woke up Wednesday morning with the worst pain in my ear.  I couldn't even function.  I had never experienced anything like this.  Anyway, Andy took the day off to care of the kids, my mom took a shift, Sandra came and took the boys to the basketball game, more food was delivered from the ward, and I was able to just lie in bed with my head sandwiched between a heat pad and my pillow.  Not fun!  Not the "good life!" I must also mention that my Dad did my dishes that night as well!  That is the second time I have found him in my kitchen washing each and every dish used at dinner.   He would be every upset if I didn't mention him on this blog.  Doing dishes goes against his image, so I greatly appreciate him helping!  Love you Dad!  A BIG thanks to Colette who also helped with my boys the next day so I could get some rest.  Family is the best---
So, I am on the mend...I  just feel like my head is in a cloud (which is nothing new!)

Livin' the good life...

So, I have hardly left the house now for nine days.  I can honestly say I have enjoyed every minute of it (well OK, almost every minute!)  This  is my life, this is what we do...

This little cowboy hunts around the house for lions and cheetahs!?  He finds them in closets, under beds, and behind the couch.  He lets me know all about it.  Sometimes he is a little too scared to venture into a room alone, so he makes me come with him.  It is a crackup!  I have found much pleasure in just taking the time to watch and pretend with him.

This is the other little guy that consumes a large part of my life right now.  It is not hard to just sit and love on this face.

When Madison and AJ get home from school, this is what they do...

This is my life.  I am so lucky!

We so much appreciate all the meals, gifts, and phone calls we have received this past week as well.  We have felt of your love and kindness.  This short period of time after a baby is born and brought home is so special.  Thank you for assisting in this transition.  We feel so blessed!

{Changing Every Day}

He is changing every day.  I take photo after photo trying to capture these first days of life.   He is so tiny, sweet, warm, soft, cuddly, and innocent.  I just can't get enough...

We got out of the house today.  We went all the way over to my parents house...6 blocks away!  My dad was holding Griffin and look who got jealous?   Just look at those sad eyes on Spikey.  He jumped up on the couch next to dad and just leaned into him.  He was not happy about Griffin being in his place.  What a dog!

This next photo is classic.  Spike is kind of hard to see in photos because he is so black.  But if you look close you can see that he is resting his head on my dad's shoulder just gazing over at Griffin.  I love it!
Anyway, it was nice to get out of the house for a short while.  My mom cooked a delicious meal for all of us.  She has been such a life saver....helping with my kids, carpooling to karate, driving to piano lessons, cooking meals, bringing me cookies, doing my dishes, and just simply loving me and helping in any way.  How did I get so lucky?

Enjoying the Snow!

We love the snow...when it is fresh, clean, sparkling, and white!  And we especially love it when we get to play in it!  I have posted a bunch of pictures that do not need any explanations....just the expressions on the faces tell enough.  I have to give credit to my brother-in-law, Keith, for taking these pics.  He is great at capturing memories!  It has been a fun filled week with Christmas, New Years, and just spending time with my family. We already miss Kristeen, Maia, and Keith.  They flew home to Vermont today :(  Thanks for such a great visit!
Maddie and Maia....Snow Buddies!

Miss Maia....look at the melted ice crystals on her sweet face.  Never once did she complain of being cold.

Andy, Kristeen, myself, AJ, Maia, and Maddie.  We enjoyed every minute of the winter fun we had at the farm!

Our other sledding location was a hill up by the old dump,  Here we didn't use the 4-wheeler, just good old fashioned sledding.  Climb up the hill and sled on down!
Kristeen and Maia...snow flying as they speed down.

AJ...the Snow Speedster

My Mom knit this new sweater for my Dad.  Check out the skulls on the sleeves. He wore it with pride!

This next sequence might need a little explanation.  Most Grandpas are kind, caring, gentle, and helpful.  Well, this grandpa  has other ideas.....
Here he is waiting so innocently--

Here comes AJ on his sled. Grandpa picks up the sled full of cold, icy snow and....

throws it on the child!  Nice huh?
AJ actually laughed and went up the hill for another dose.

The Snow Monster attacks again....

The last of the snow activities took place on Wednesday.  The gang went skiing up at Sundance (except for myself and Lane).  I wasn't there to take pictures so Kristeen snapped a couple with her iphone.

Good times!  We had such a fun Holiday.
