Blessing Day -- March 28th, 2010

We blessed Griffin on Sunday.  He was such a good boy -- no crying during the blessing!  Here he is in his little white outfit.  All three of my boys  have worn this for their special day.

Our family with Andy's mom....

Our family with my Mom  and Dad....

All of Andy's siblings and their families came to the blessing.  It is so nice to live close to such a supportive family. After church we all went to the park to enjoy lunch.  The sun was shining, but it was still a little bit chilly.  I was determined to hold the luncheon outside in the Spring weather.  Thanks for coming everyone.

After the blessing festivities, we packed up and headed out for a two night stay in Mesquite.  Happy Spring Break!  Those pictures will be coming soon!

What's on your DVR???

So, I am up at 2:00AM feeding Griffin.  There is absolutely nothing on TV that is worth watching.  I turn to my trusty DVR to watch something that has been previously recorded.  Below is what I find.....

Really???  My choices pretty much come down to Hannah Montana OR The Three Stooges!  You can see who controls things around this house....the kids!  You may be wondering..."The Three Stooges?"  Yes, The Three Stooges!  One of my kids' most favorite shows.  I give credit to my father.  He is the one who turned them on to these three strange characters.  Madison has set the DVR to recorded EVERY episode!  They laugh and giggle and then try to recreate Three Stooge actions.  Nice!!

My own Three Stooges!

So, here's to you Larry, Curly, and Moe!  Thanks for keeping  me awake and entertained at 2:00 in the morning! (Much rather watch them than Hannah Montana!)

January 18th -- From this........

to this.......
in a short 2 month period of time.   March 18th, 2010

It is hard for him to sport a collar when he doesn't have a neck.  But, the collar does serve a purpose...it helps support those cheeks!!

Vermont Visitors

My sister Kristeen and her daughter Maia came from Vermont to meet Griffin.  We spent all last week playing, scrap booking, and just simply hanging out.  It was so fun to have them visit.  Maia is our only niece/cousin on my side of the family.  She is such a sweetie pie and a joy to have around.  She was a good cousin to Griffin...she held him, fed him, and kissed him.

Kristeen enjoyed the lazy afternoons with Griffin.  Nothing like a snuggle buddy and a good book!

Grandma Barb with a few of the kids..

Griffin likes to hang out on the kitchen counter and gaze at the lights above.  The kids would surround him and talk to him...he loved the attention.

Maia and Maddie

We spent a day up in Salt Lake.  We visited the Clark Planetarium, Discovery Gateway, and then spent the night in a hotel.

Moon walkers....

Martians on Mars.   One is trying to hide behind a rock...sneaky little alien!

It was a quality week spent with family.  I would give anything to have my sister live closer. Thanks for the visit Kristeen and Maia!  We miss you---

The Karate Kid

My little Karate Kid had his first tournament this past Saturday.  He looks pretty mean doesn't he?
We all traveled up to Salt Lake to watch him.  He had to "Spar" (controlled fight) against an opponent.  I got a "kick" out of him all fixed up in his sparring gear.  He was protected from head to toe...including a mouth guard and the most important groin cup!

This was first time I  had really seen him in the ring ready to spar.  He looked a little nervous at first, but soon gained some confidence.  In order to get a point he  had to punch or kick at the blue circles on his opponents body guard.   He also had to try to block kicks and punches from his opponent.  The points went pretty quick...nothing too violent!  In fact it was cute!  AJ is such a laid back kid that nothing really gets to him.  He was just out there doing his best.  The other kid won the match but AJ definitely made some good points.
Ready stance....look at the concentration

This is an action shot of  AJ earning a point.  The opponent went in for a kick as AJ went for the punch into his opponent's center blue circle...."point red!"

When it was all over, I took out his mouth guard and he had a big smile on his face.  He thought it was pretty cool and said that it didn't hurt at all!  Thank goodness it was a good experience.  Here he is being awarded his Silver Medal.  No blood or tears...just a smile and some medals!

He also  had to perform a what they call a "form."  He  had to do form Keebon.  This is were they are in ring alone and perform a series of moves .  Anyway, he won the Gold Medal for his form Keebon!  Way to go AJ!

We were proud of him.  He is such a sweet kid.  Karate has helped him gain some confidence.  It also teaches respect and muscle control.  Anyway, when all said and done he was very excited to have his medals.  He also couldn't wait to get his groin cup off! :)
