Birthday Biking

So, those of you that don't know -- Andy bought a 1990 Suburban about a month ago.  It is a beauty!  We are calling it our "Mountain vehicle."  Our family of 6 would not fit in our Bronco anymore.  Well, this weekend we put the Suburban to the test.  We loaded 5 bikes, a bike trailer, helmets, a cooler, softball gear, 4 kids, and two adults inside that thing and headed for the hills.  Not up the mountain, but down to Big Rock Candy Mountain.  We rode in comfort!

We enjoyed a picnic for lunch and then hit the bike trail.  You can see the "Candy" mountain in the background.

Lane and Griffin enjoyed the ride from inside the bike trailer.  As you can see, Lane took  good care of Griff.

The kids loved the paved trail that felt like a little road.  They pretended to be cars.

We stopped and cooled off in the Sevier River.

Andy looks as if he is sick, sad, or mad.  But no... just sleepy!!  He sat down for longer than 5 minutes and when that happens, he falls asleep.

After wading in the water and eating a snack, we hit the trail again.

We stopped along the way to climb on some rocks.

After the ride we played some softball at a park and then headed home. It was a perfect day trip and a perfect birthday.  Who needs an extravagant tropical getaway for their birthday? :) Not me...just a day cruising in the suburban, bike riding, and hanging out with with the kids.  Maybe the tropical getaway next year?

3 months

Griffin turns 3 months old!  Now that is something to blog about!! :)

We love this little guy!  He is smiling, cooing, crying, spitting, kicking, and he even giggled for the first time yesterday!  I heard an important fact on "The Rachel Ray Show" yesterday as well.  After a very scientific study, they found that the most addicting sound to Americans is a baby's laugh.  I'll tell you what...after hearing this little guy belt out a full hearted giggle, I am hooked!  That is all I do all day...try to get him to laugh for me!!

"Watch Mom!"

Look who has conquered his two-wheeled bike....The Lane Man!  He got tired of those "training wheel things", so off they came!  Equipped with biking gloves, helmet, and knee pads, he gives a "thumbs up" as he prepares for take off...

And there he goes!  Andy could barely keep up with him.

He was so excited!  I wouldn't say he is ready to just hop on his bike and ride.  He still needs help starting out and he is not too steady on his turns!  But, with a little more practice and his strong 3-year-old determination, he will be keeping up with his older siblings come summer!
Way to go Dude!

Easter Traditions

Tradition #1:  Egg Decorating!   These two are Griffin's -- a pirate face and drops of white milk. :)  (Madison is going to post other egg pictures on her blog.)

Tradition #2:  Easter egg hunt at the Manti City Park.  Bad weather is part of the tradition.  What happened to looking for eggs in cute new Easter outfits, sandals, and sun hats???

Tradition #3:  Egg rolling at the sand dunes in Fayette.  This is definitely a favorite.  The eggs roll forever down sandy trails...through tunnels and off jumps.  Then the kids run down the hill and gather them all up to repeat the process.
Griffin is trying to enjoy the sand dunes.  Madison was helping him roll eggs!
Me and my boys!

Tradition #4:  Sand Surfing at the sand dunes.  I'm sure you remember similar pictures from last year.  The kids ride behind an automobile on this large "belt" that pulls them over the hills of sand.  they love it!!  Alex is following behind on his 4-wheeler.

Lane even got in on the sand surfing action.  He loves a good ride!

Grandma Sandra taking Lane for a ride.

Tradition #5:  Easter Picnic, egg hunt, and softball game at the Plum Patch.  I didn't take many pictures at the Plum Patch this year...oops.  But this is definitely a family tradition that we all love.
Madison on the run to find eggs!
She even had to climb trees to retrieve her eggs!
Hold on Sis!

Happy Easter to all!

A Little Taste of Spring

Spring Break definitely required some warm sun.  So, we had to leave Utah!  We headed South to Mesquite, Nevada for a two night stay.  Andy's mom, Karl's family, and Clint's family all joined us!  The more the merrier!  The kids have so much fun together...and so do the adults!  We spent most of the time hanging out in the pool.  We also played arcade games, went bowling, ate good food, and just relaxed.
Griffin in his sun hat.  He was a good boy on his first big outing.

AJ and Kort --- working on their tans!

Keyera and Madison didn't stop swimming for hours on end.  They could be part fish.  They had fun with their flippers and goggles.

Eating pizza on the balcony of our hotel.

Crazy bowlers!

Madison in action as she tries for a strike.

AJ threw a good ball too!

Lane needed a little extra help from Andy.

Grandma Sandra is always happy to hang out with us.

The fam --

Happy in the hot tub!

We stopped in St. George on the way home to ride the Go-karts and bumper boats.  That is always a good time!
Notice Andy is having way too much fun shooting the little children with water.
It was kind of hard to come home to cold and snow.  Hopefully it will warm up soon.
