Lane Learns to Ski

Saturday we hit slopes. It was time for Lane to learn to ski! We took Maddie, AJ, and Lane. Karl and his two boys joined us as well. We skied at Eagle Point down in Beaver. I pretty much got to hang out with the older three kids while Andy and Karl gave ski lessons to the younger two.

As you can see, Lane started out with a "speed control system."

but, after a short time he was totally on his own!

What is it about seeing these little kids ski? They pick it up so quickly -- I love it!

Kevin and AJ on the lift. What good buddies they are!

This was my lift buddy --

Birthday Boy!

Griffin turned ONE! That called for some celebrations!
His first party was at Grandma Sandra's. We had pizza, played games, and......

ate cupcakes!!

Griffin thought it was so funny that we were all staring at him and singing. He also found the candle flame to be very cool!

At first he wasn't too sure what to do with his very own cupcake. So, Maddie had to demonstrate. He thought that was quite funny too!

Then he figured it out. He scooped finger fulls of frosting into his month....yummy!

Our birthday boy!

"Is it really all gone?? Maybe I will try to eat the wrapper."

The next party was held on his real birthday day -- January 18th.

I had my parents over for more dinner, games, and presents.

Giving Grandma Barb loves....

This was his favorite toy. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa!

Big Foot Fanatics!

Well, we can now say that we have done the "Monster Truck" thing! We have moved on from "Disney's Princess' on Ice" to "Big Foot!" We had front row seats -- the kids were amazed at the craziness! It was a good time....

Maddie and Keyera were there....with smiles!

Big Foot....smashing a full sized yellow van! Oh yea baby!

Griffin was there....with ear plugs and all!

Kort, AJ, Kevin, and Tray were there....They just kept saying, "This is AWESOME!!"

And they left with Monster Truck T-shirts! Once again, "That was AWESOME!"

My Own Christmas Highlight!

Ok, enough about the kids. I have my own Christmas Highlight I want to share!
My mom and dad gave Andy and I tickets to Fenway Park in Boston to see the Red Sox play baseball! Fenway Park! One of the best know sports venues in the world! It is a baseball "shrine!" We are so excited!! Kristeen and Keith will drive down from Vermont to join us. Andy and I both got a little teared up when we realized what they had given us. It is a dream come true. I have been there once, before I was married, but Andy has not. It will be so fun to go together and be part of the "Red Sox Nation!" We will be going in June. My parents are truly the best! Thanks mom and dad --- we love you (we want you to come with us!) Now Andy will be able to check "Watch a Game at Fenway Park" off of his Bucket List!!!

Baby G's first Christmas

Finally, we are to Baby Griffin! These Christmas posts are a lot of work :)

1. He wasn't to sure about Santa....a little freaked out by all the white hair~

2. Rescued from Santa by Aunt Teen Teen!

3. Cookie making....notice how he is down on the floor, looking up, wishing he could get in that frosting! Sorry Griff, maybe next year!

4. New PJ's and a Boston Red Sox chair just his size! My mom and dad gave it to him---perfect! He knows how to relax...

5. Christmas morning he found this ride-on dump truck under the tree. He was all smiles!

6. A hammer and ball toy...perfect for a one year old (and a seven year old it looks like)

7. A new zebra hat...

8. And...he learned to WALK! Suuuuperman!!

9. Last of all....sledding. He didn't ride on the sleds, he rode on the 4-wheeler up and down the hill with Andy hauling kids. This is on the back of the 4-wheeler. It isn't really where we had him ride, but we thought about it. He was quite comfortable!

So, there you have it. Griffin as officially experienced Christmas.
He loves being able to walk....it is a new sense of freedom. His first birthday is coming up on the 18th. Wow! How it is possible?

Lane's Christmas Highlights

There are quite a few photos here of Lane's Christmas highlights. He makes me laugh! He had an exciting holiday season....he is at that perfect age!

1. Snow! (next three photos)

2. An early gift from Santa....a yo-yo and Cotton Candy!! It took a couple of times seeing Santa for Lane to actually feel comfortable sitting on his lap. He was very shy, but soon learned that Santa was one cool Dude!

3. Cookie making--Lane enjoyed the decorating stage. Look at the concentration!

4. Christmas pajamas from Grandma Sandra--

5. Lane received this Indian head band from Maddie. She made it with real pheasant feathers!

6. A Christmas story from Aunt Teen Teen on Christmas Eve.

7. Lane found this football helmet under the tree on Christmas morning.

8. And a take-a-part plane with a drill. Thank goodness Grandma Barb had the patience to help him with it!

9. Santa left a big blue goal post for Lane too. He was quite amazed. Prior to this photo, Lane had all of his football gear on and went to kick a field goal. He missed and his legs went right out from under him. He was sooooo embarrassed! He ripped all of his gear off and started to cry. It took us a little while to convince him to try again. What a kid!
10. He would wait so patiently as we all took turns opening presents.

11. Grandma and Grandpa gave him some dress-ups.
This skull cape....
and this awesome Viking outfit!
He sat and watch "How to Train Your Dragon" in his Viking helmet. It made us all smile!

12. Sledding with Teen Teen--

Lots of photos! Lane was a joy to have around--
Baby G's first Christmas coming next!
