OH... IO!

Well for all two of you who still read this blog, just thought I'd let you know... we made it to Ohio and Dr. G has already started residency.  Granted it's just orientation this week but he's dived right in.

It's going to be a little different from Arizona but good. Check out our new home pictured in the banner above, we're pretty excited about it. :) Here's hoping the next five years (keep your fingers crossed) are full of just as much fun, friendship, and craziness that the last four has been.

A year in review

Running is good for the soul

Today I woke up feeling a little down, lonely, and frustrated. I felt like I wanted to cry... actually I did, a little, but I'm ok now. Promise. Anyway, with school and all the grading I have to do, not to mention the laundry and the dishes, I didn't feel like I had time to go for a run even though I knew I needed to since the Ragnar is less than 2 weeks away (yikes!). So when I talked to Rooi this morning (a rare occurrence this month) he encouraged me to go for a run and let me just say it's probably one of the best things I could have done. Not only did I get out of the apartment but it felt so good to just run, flat out run on my own go as fast or as slow as I felt like. To stop when I wanted and just the exhilaration of running fast (or at least what's fast to me). It felt really really good. So I'm back now and even though I still have to do all that stuff I feel better, happier, and more capable of handling everything that I need to accomplish in the next 48 hours before my papers due. Which I think is pretty great.

June Festivities

In June we made our way up north to visit my family.  On our way, having finally found the elusive road to the scenic lookout, we stopped at the Hoover Dam and walked out onto the new bridge.  It was pretty cool if I do say so myself.  The view that is, not the temperature.

After an enjoyable walk out to the middle of the bridge we continued on our way up to lovely St. George where we spent the rest of the weekend with my family.  Saturday we went hiking in Zion.  It is my FAVORITE national park in Utah, although Arches is pretty high up there too.  Spending time there is almost as good as going home for me.

(These are the few pictures we took before our camera died.  :(  My mom is sending me the rest but I don't have them yet so this is what we have.)

After coming home Rooi and I were lucky enough to get a Culture pass from the Library for the Phoenix Zoo.  So despite the high temperatures we took a day and explored the exhibits.  It was SO fun!  and the Zoo is HUGE!  We managed to see almost all of it (minus the meerkats or whatever they are called) in one trip.  We got to pet some goats and sting rays, ride a tractor (non-operational), and take a paddle boat out on a lake.  We had a lot of fun and would highly recommend taking a trip to anyone who is thinking about it, although maybe not in the summer.

So far summer has been pretty fun and we are trying to see all that we can before we both start back into school.  (I can't believe I start classes in about a month!  weird!)  Summer isn't over yet so stay tuned for more adventures from the desert!

Memorial Day weekend

Rooi made it through his first year of medical school!  So to celebrate... we went home.  We got to spend a week with our families hanging out and having fun. We also got to watch the SF Lady Dons take state in softball
(Oh man that final game was intense. )
Congratulations Ladies!  You earned it!
And then for the weekend we went to Bryce Canyon with Rooi's family.  Here are some highlights:
It was beautiful down there and we had a lot of fun. We were kind of sad to come back to Arizona, it was so nice getting to be with family for awhile.  But now we are back and adjusting to the heat.  I haven't melted yet so... so far so good.  Let's hope it stays that way.
