Snort!

Yesterday a fellow mommy friend of mine came over to pick her daughter up from my house, as it's my week to teach preschool. She said, "How do you keep your house clean all the time?"

What do I say to this? Hmm? Basically I snorted and chuckled a bit and proceeded to inform her that I don't. Nope. I would love to be able to honestly say, "Why yes I do keep it a clean place, just like heaven, and I do it with a smile."

But I don't like to lie. I leave that up to my kids when I ask, "Who broke the freaking drawer to Lauren's desk!?!?"

Tag

Tara tagged me so here it is, finally.

Soooo... 7 random things about me. I'm pretty random so you'd think this would be easy, but I'm coming up blank here. Hmmm...

1. I can't stop eating olives, almonds, slushy drinks, avocados, and black beans lately. No idea why.

2. I only go shopping once a month and I get everything I need for the entire month since I have to take three kids when I do this. So once a month I sit down and make our meal plan, write out a list of a million and one things, and go spend like $350 in one big shopping binge. I kind of like it no matter what, but I LOVE it when my dad-in-law comes along for the fun.

3. I almost have a panic attack about my kids getting older when I watch Lily toddle around the house, walking like it's no big deal, and cutting her first tooth. Oh my goodness! Throbbing heart.

4. I'm in love with my chiropractor. (Not really, but he really does make my head stop hurting)

5. Once when I was a little girl, I slipped off the top step of Emma's house and landed on the back of my neck on the bottom step and injured my spine. I couldn't talk straight for several minutes. I know I had a concussion, but no adults were around and we didn't think to tell them so luckily I was fine. But this is the reason I love my chiro.

6. I got all craft-faced on Saturday and made several Christmas presents at Super Saturday. Brett was sweet enough to spend 5 hours alone with the kids so I could. Poor guy.

7. Nothing is more relaxing to me than a big poofy bed with clean sheets and comfy pillows. I LOVE thick feather mattresses, blankets, and down comforters. Yummy.

I LOVE IT!

After a life time of wondering what I would look like as a brunette, here it is. Sorry for my crappy self portrait taking skills. I tried. In another week I get to make the treck to Tremonton to get my hair cut again.

Trade offs

As a stay at home, I typically wake up at around 8:30 to 9 every day. Brett wakes up at about 6 am every day and works until 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. He doesn't mind, but still.

On the other hand, here's how things went today. When I finally got to hear from Brett while he's on his business trip(aka, work paid fun time where he gets to stay in nice hotels and get nice meals and treats all day) to Portland, Or, I happened to be at the laundromat scrubbing out the poop Lily smeared all over my huge comforter that won't fit in my washer. Oh, and I was also watching my feather mattress swirl around another machine because, for the first time in 9 months, Lauren decided to have an accident the ONE STINKING NIGHT I let her sleep in my bed. Of course.
So I was on the phone with Brett and he was at some posh country club enjoying his leisurely lunch and telling me about the place he ate at last night for dinner. Oh, and he just called me again, he's eating dinner with his group and says the place is awesome. Sweet. I just got called in to wipe Lauren's bum; and if I get around to eating dinner myself, it's probably going to be mac and cheese.

I like my mornings, but I still get pretty jealous of Brett's getaways sometimes, too. I think it's about time for me and the kids to head to Applebees and treat ourselves to desert. I'm feeling pouty.
