Day 120: Virginia and her Apple

Today when I was getting the girls' milk and snack ready Virginia grabbed an apple off of the kitchen counter. I didn't think she'd actually eat it, but I washed it for her just in case. Turns out she did want to eat it and really enjoyed it. I was really impressed with how well she did with it. I just had to show her a couple of times that she needed to eat from the middle and not the end of the apple. I guess I'll have to keep apples in the house for the girls now. And she's definitely my daughter- enjoying a Granny Smith apple just like I love!

Day 119: One Picture

I took one picture today, that's it. It's not a good picture, but it's all I took, so it was this or I take a picture of the dog and use that. He's sleeping comfortably beside me, so I don't want to bother him with the flash. This is Virginia, very unhappy because I took Paige out of her high chair and was carrying her around. Paige didn't feel well, so she wasn't eating and didn't need to be in her high chair. I try not to use pictures of the girls crying, but oh well.

Day 118: Lounging

Paige isn't feeling 100% today, she's hoarse and has a bit of a cough. So this evening while the girls were looking out the front window Paige decided she wanted to get more comfortable, so she laid down on the back of the couch. I guess she's leaning things from the dog, because that's one of Jefferson's favorite places to lay. She sure looked comfortable laying there looking out the window.

Day 117: 22 Months Old!

Today Paige and Virginia turned 22 months old! We had a hard time getting their picture together tonight, but here they are in the recliner. They're starting to get too big to fit in it together. I can't believe they're going to be 2 in two months. Where does the time go?

Day 116: Cleaning and Pretty Dresses?

I put the girls in dresses today since they don't seem to like to wear pants these days. I figured I didn't want to fight with them to keep pants on, so I just put them in dresses. Shortly after I got them dressed and put their fancy black shoes on them they got into a cabinet in the kitchen and found a little hand broom and dustpan. I let them keep them and ended up with two little girls all dressed up and cleaning. What goofy girls. Here's Virginia in her dress and carrying the dustpan. Paige was wearing a matching dress in pink.

Day 115: GW Parkway Classic

Today my dad and I ran the GW Parkway Classic 10 Miler. It went really well and I finished in just under an hour and 45 minutes. I left my dad at the last water stop just before the 9 mile marker, so I finished a little ahead of him. We had perfect weather for the run and it felt great! My legs don't feel as great now, but they'll feel better after I get my massage tomorrow. Here are me and my dad just after we finished the race.I just wanted to add that I just went online and saw my official finish time: 1:44:41. Not bad considering I started that race wanting to finish in less than 2 hours. Then towards the end I decided I wanted to beat 1:45- and I did!

Day 114: Baby Doll Stroller Fun

We don't normally let the girls sit in their doll stroller, but for some reason we did yesterday. It was a long day- they didn't nap and it made them happy, so we let them do it. Anyway, they had a wonderful time with the stroller. First Virginia sat in it and Paige pushed her around and then they traded places and Virginia pushed Paige around in it. Here is Paige pushing Virginia around in it. Please ignore the fact that they're not wearing pants- it wasn't worth the fight yesterday afternoon.

Day 113: Fun with a Cup

Virginia was a doll today. She was so good for me all day, which was really nice because Paige was quite fussy. At one point this morning Paige was having a fit about something and Virginia was sitting on the couch playing with her (empty) sippy cup. I asked Virginia to smile for me and this was the look I got. I could also share with you the picture I took of Paige right after I took this picture, but no one wants to see a very unhappy Paige, so we'll just stick with happy Virginia for today.

Day 112: Silly Girls

Paige and Virginia were being silly at the end of dinner tonight. Virginia had her bear with her in her high chair and decided to put her bear on her head. Since Virginia was getting attention with her bear on her head, Paige decided she should put her blanket on her head. So here's Paige throwing her blanket up over her head and Virginia with her bear on her head. You can also see one of Virginia's first ever pigtails. Both girls came home from daycare with pigtails. So cute!

Day 111: Fun with Paper Towels

I stopped at Target on the way home today and bought a big pack of paper towels and a big pack of toilet paper, along with some other items. I left the paper towels and toilet paper in the foyer until I had a chance to move them. Well, before I got the chance to move them Paige found them. She went into the foyer and pulled both packs up into the living room and the girls had a great time with them. Here's Paige having a great time "riding" the big pack of paper towels.

Day 110: Paige

Unfortunately I didn't get to spend much time with the girls today, so I took some pictures of them at dinner. Here's Paige solemnly eating some Puffs and Cheerios at the end of dinner.

Day 109: Where's Paige?

The girls and I played on the deck for awhile this morning. They were having a great time playing Peek-a-boo with the deck chairs. Their favorite one to do it with was the one I was sitting in, but I couldn't really get a picture of that. Here's Paige hiding behind the chair and Virginia trying to figure out how to move the other chair.

Day 108: March for Babies

A family picture taken before this morning's March for Babies in which we walked. It was chilly out there, which is why the girls are covered in blankets. We had a good time, though, despite the weather.

Day 107: Daddy's Hat

Ben had a baseball cap out today because he wore it to do yardwork. He didn't put it away after he was done wearing it, so Paige decided to wear it. And, of course, she didn't put it on straight, but have you ever seen anyone look this cute while wearing a sideways baseball cap?

Day 106: Ready to explore

Today the girls and I went to Frying Pan Farm Park with my friend, Liza, and her son, Franklin. We all had a great time and I know we'll all be going back there again and again. Here are Virginia and Paige just after we got to the park when we were waiting for Liza and Franklin to get there. They're watching all of the other children that were there and getting ready to go explore the park. They're also wearing their backpack tethers, which they did really well with today and I was happy to have them so that I wasn't constantly trying to keep hold of two toddlers.

Day 105: Wanna sleep in the wagon?

I took the girls to the playground in their wagon while Ben cooked dinner tonight. When we got back and I finally got the girls inside I had to also bring the wagon inside and they spent the rest of the night playing in and with it. When it was almost bedtime I asked the girls if they were just going to sleep in their wagon. And what did they do? They both kicked their feet to the side of the wagon and laid their heads down like they were going to sleep there. Silly girls!

Day 104: Paige following in her mommy's footsteps?

Normally I keep my running shoes up in our bedroom, but today I had them downstairs because I was hoping to get a run in during the girls' nap. That didn't happen, though, because the TV repair man didn't leave until about 3:15 and the girls were already talking in their cribs at that point. So my shoes were in the living room. The girls love to put on my new, but this was a new one. I don't know how well you can see it in this picture, but Paige took one of my socks and put it on and then put my shoe on. I think she already wants to be a runner, but she should probably wait a few years, don't you think?

Day 103: Cash Register Fun

The girls got their cash register for Christmas and shortly after that we took the coins away because they were sticking them in their mouth and it was too much of a choking hazard for us. This evening while Ben was fixing dinner the girls were fussy, so I pulled out the coins and the cash register and we all played with them. The girls seemed to have a lot of fun with it and were getting pretty good at getting the coins in the right slots. Here's Paige with the cash register and Virginia playing with the coins in the plastic bag in which we keep them.

Day 102: Daddy's Home!

The girls were very happy to have their daddy home yesterday. They both got up on the couch with him. It was really cute. Here are Paige and Virginia and Jefferson all on the couch with their daddy.
And I'm sorry this post is late. I normally post these while watching TV in the evenings, but our TV isn't working so Ben and I played Trivial Pursuit last night and I forgot about posting a picture. We're hopefully getting the TV fixed tomorrow and then I should remember to post pictures.

Day 101: Playdate!

The girls and I went on a playdate and lunchdate today with a friend of mine and her boy/girl twins. We had to cut the play time short because of some police activity in the area. We don't know what was going on, but better safe than sorry. We all had a good time and hope to do it again soon. Here's a picture of Paige and Virginia from our playdate today. They were hanging out at the top of the slides watching the other set of twins play.

Day 100: Sheep!

My parents watched the girls today while I went to my friend Beth's baby shower and went for a long run. They took the girls to Frying Pan Farm Park and the girls got to see a bunch of different types of animals. Here is Virginia very excited about seeing the sheep.

Day 99: Milk Time

I only took 3 pictures today, so I'm limited in my choices. Here is Virginia drinking her bedtime milk after her bath. I hadn't yet put her sleeper on so she was enjoying her milk in just her diaper. Just after I took this picture I did put her sleeper on her, so she wasn't hanging out practically naked for long.

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Day 98: Paige and Her Teapot

My parents got the girls teapots for Valentines' Day. The teapots make sounds like tea pouring and also play a song. Today Paige was playing with her teapot and it was on the setting where it plays the song. She took it and sat down on her couch, played the song and bobbed her head to the music. She's such a silly girl!

By the way, do her skirt and shirt match? I think they go together, Ben says they don't. What do you think?

Day 97: Picnic Lunch

The girls and I went to a local county park today so that I could run and I'd planned on us having a picnic lunch there, but it didn't work out. We came home early and had a picnic lunch at home. At least we started lunch outside, but then it got too hot so we finished lunch inside. Here are Paige and Virginia on the deck looking at their lunch on the table.

Day 96: Going down the stairs

The girls have gotten really good recently at going up and down the stairs. I love that they can do it because it makes it much easier for me to get them up and down the stairs. I was carrying them both at the same time, but carrying 60 squirmy pounds up and down stairs is not easy. Today they wore cute little dresses that Mimi got them with some capri leggings that I picked up for them. I think they're super cute outfits. Here are Virginia and Paige coming down the stairs.

Day 95: Water Table Fun

It was really warm out today so I got the girls' water table out and put it on the deck for them. They had a great time playing with it and getting themselves soaking wet. I had to change them before their naps and then they got soaking wet again while waiting for dinner to cook. It's okay, though, because it makes them happy. I mean, look at how happy Virginia is in this picture.

Day 94: Happy Easter

Virginia and Paige looking at their Easter baskets that the Easter Bunny dropped off at our house. We took them with us to my parents' house where we celebrated Easter today.

Saturday, April 3, 2010

Day 93: Long Kitty

The girls are at their grandparents house for the weekend (thank you Mom and Dad!) so I don't have any pictures of them today. So we're going with a picture of Ashtree. She was stretched out on the floor keeping an eye on Jefferson when I took this one. I love the way she stretches all the way out with her back legs kicked out behind her. It makes her look so long.

Day 92: First Easter Egg Hunt

I took Paige and Virginia to their daycare this morning for an Easter Egg Hunt. They had a lot of fun collecting eggs and trying to find out what was in them (candy that is now Mommy and Daddy's). Here they are with their bags of eggs. Paige is checking out her stash and Virginia is squinting from the bright sun.

Day 91: Coming Down the Stairs

I jogged up to pick the girls up from daycare again yesterday and when we got home we played outside until it was time for dinner. The girls had a great time walking Jefferson and going up and down the stairs up to our front door. Here are Paige and Virginia coming down the stairs.
