Day 243: Feeding Frog-Frog

We went out to lunch on Sunday and at the end of our meal the waitress brought rubber frogs over for Paige and Virginia. They love them! Paige is always asking for "Frog-Frog" now. This afternoon at snack time Paige was even trying to feed Goldfish crackers to Frog-Frog. Wasn't that sweet of her?

Day 242: At the Library

Okay, so Virginia isn't really at the library, but she's at our library. This bookshelf holds all of the books we keep on the main level of our house- but we do have some books for the girls both upstairs and downstairs. The girls love to go their library and pick out books to read.

Day 241: Playhouse

This morning we went over to Mimi and Pops' house to help them move their deck furniture off of their deck which is getting power washed tomorrow. Mimi and Pops' neighbor recently gave them an old playhouse for outside. The girls had fun today playing in it. I mean, don't Virginia and Paige look like they're having fun? Don't mind the serious faces, they were intently watching Daddy and Pops move furniture. I promise, they really did have fun out there.

Day 240: Riding Seahorses and Pandas

I took Paige and Virginia to the playground again this morning while Ben was off getting some work done on his car. Can someone please tell me when my babies got big enough to ride these by themselves? I have to put them on and take them off, but they can hold on and rock them all by themselves. Seriously, when did they get so big?

Day 239: Sitting on the Deck

Since it was nice out today I took Virginia and Paige out to play on the deck while Ben cooked dinner. They had fun playing out there and then decided to sit on the cooler just like they normally do.

Day 238: Where's Paige?

This Amazon box is still loads of fun! This evening Paige climbed inside like she was trying to play "Hide and Seek" even though no one was really looking for her (mainly because we could all see her). She was really cute, though, all curled up in the box.

Day 237: New Hangout

My mom watched the girls today while Ben and I were at work. She told me that she lost Virginia for a minute and this is where she found her. Crazy little girl was trying to get in the refrigerator. I think we need to look into getting a refrigerator lock, especially since Virginia can open the gate.

Day 236: Big Boxes are Fun

I ordered 2 boxes of diapers from Amazon the other day and they came today in a big, long box. I opened it for the girls and let them play with it. They loved it! I took both boxes of diapers out, but then Paige picked one up and put it back in as a seat. Virginia and Paige had so much fun climbing in and out of the big box and putting their toys in it. I've decided that when we get desperate for things to play with this winter I'm just going to order big items online so that we get big boxes for entertainment.

Day 235: Watching the Big Kids

Today was a beautiful day and not too incredibly hot, so this morning the girls and I went to the playground for a little while. There was another mom there with her two children- I would guess they were 4 and 3. Virginia and Paige had fun playing at the playground, but they also had fun watching the other kids play. At one point the other kids were just outside the playground playing with a soccer ball and Virginia and Paige couldn't help but stop on the steps and watch them.

Day 234: Paige's Faces

If you know Paige you know that this is a face she often makes. It's kind of cute now, but I hope we're not paying an orthodontist lots of money in about 10 years to fix an underbite...

Day 233: Two Virginias?

We went to a cookout tonight at a friend's very nice new apartment. They had a nice, big balcony with windows. Virginia found the window and also found herself in it! I tried asking her who was in the window and the answer I got was "Sissy" which is what both of the girls call each other and themselves, so I'm not sure if she has the reflection concept down or not.

Day 232: Pool Play Date

Today the girls and I had another play date with my friend, Liza and her son, Franklin. This time, though, we went to Liza's parents' house and played in their pool. We all had fun and except for a couple little incidents it was pretty uneventful. I definitely think the girls are going to enjoy their swim lessons when they start next month. Virginia loved lounging in her starfish while Paige hung out in her turtle.

Day 231: Cuddling with Daddy

I came into the living room after washing the dishes and this what I found. Virginia and Paige cuddling with Ben on their little couch. Too cute.

Day 230: Super Cool Virginia

Virginia was pulling stuff out of the toy box this evening and then came over and stood in front of me and yelled, "Mama." I looked at her and this is the adorableness that I saw.

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

Day 229: Postcards

Paige and Virginia got postcards in the mail today. They love postcards. They normally carry them around until they tear them apart. They pretty much love them to pieces. Today Paige took her postcard and sat down on the couch to read it- or maybe to look at the picture on it. Either way she was very excited about her postcard.

Monday, August 16, 2010

Day 228: Shoes?

Virginia and Paige are obsessed with shoes these days. My shoes, Ben's shoes, their play shoes, pretty much any shoes they an get their hands on they try to put on their feet. I don't know where they get that obsession from- definitely not me since I can't stand shoes. Must be from Ben...

Day 227: Sisters

This evening Paige went over and laid down on top of the toy box with her "oof," her "dat" and her blanket. Virginia immediately walked over and started patting Paige on the back and rubbing her back. Aren't they sweet?

Day 226: Daddy's New Shirts

This morning we all went to the mall. We were having problems with the laptop not charging, so Ben took it to the Apple store to get it checked. Turns out we needed a new power adapter, thankfully it was free since we'd only bought the last one about 3 months ago. While we were at the mall Ben bought a couple of new t-shirts. When we got home Virginia and Paige decided they wanted to try on Daddy's shirts. So we put the shirts on them and they went and got some items out of their dress up clothes box and put those on as well.

Day 225: Auntie Mollie

Auntie Mollie came over to play today. We all played at the house for awhile and then we went out to lunch. It took a bit of time for the girls to warm up to Mollie, but they did warm up to her and did puzzles with her. They were not, though, in the mood to get their picture taken with Mollie, but we still managed to get a couple pictures even if Virginia is trying to wiggle away in this one. You can't really see Mollie's big belly in this picture, but she's 36 weeks pregnant, so there's a little baby in there between Virginia and Paige!

Day 224: Reading

Virginia decided to sit down and read a book tonight after dinner. She was really enjoying "Here Comes Peter Cottontail."

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

Day 223: Ready for Winter?

We're trying to figure out what we're going to have to buy for the girls for the fall and winter, so tonight I got out their winter coats for them to try on. Thankfully they fit, so it doesn't look like we'll need to buy new winter coats this year, unless the girls hit a big growth spurt, of course. Virginia and Paige may not have been wearing any pants tonight, but they sure looked cute in their winter coats.

Day 222: Fun (and lucrative) New Game

I left Ben and the girls alone in the bedroom for a few minutes this evening and this is what I came back to- Ben had gotten their turtle banks for them and given them some change to put in them. Paige and Virginia probably made a decent amount of money tonight with this game.

Monday, August 9, 2010

Day 221: Peeking Around Daddy

Tonight Ben was sitting on the floor reading a book to Paige, but Virginia refused to come sit with him for the book. It didn't take long, though, before our little Daddy's girl went over to Ben, stood behind him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Then she decided to stay behind him and just peek her head around and look at him. She was so happy to be playing this little game with her daddy.

Day 220: Sitting with Pops

This morning the girls went walking around outside the house with Pops and Mommy. Pops showed Paige and Virginia a flat rock that is great to sit on. Mommy snapped some pictures while also keeping an eye out for snakes since one was spotting by the house yesterday afternoon. The good news is that it was just a garter snake- and I didn't see it.

Day 219: Girl Talk

Four of the five girl cousins sitting around the table talking: Elizabeth, Paige, Caleigh and Virginia. Carson is the one that is missing and she was probably off crying somewhere- her mom lovingly refers to her as the "town crier."

Day 218: Virginia and Uncle Lloyd

Virginia loves her Uncle "Oyd" and he definitely loves her!

Day 217: Chatting with Caleigh

Sorry about the delay in posts, we were in West Virginia for a family reunion and didn't have internet access. I have plenty of pictures, though, so I won't miss any days.

Thursday was the first day of the family reunion. We all gathered at Ben's parents' house in Berkeley Springs, WV. Ben's brother came from North Carolina and his aunt, uncle, cousins and their families all came up from Knoxville, TN. The girls weren't quite sure about things when everyone showed up Thursday evening, but it didn't take them long to warm up to everyone. Here are Virginia and Paige sitting with Caleigh who is Ben's cousin Rob's daughter.

Day 216: Dessert

The girls are at my parents' house so tonight Ben and I went out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We went to The Melting Pot and it was delicious! Our waitress gave us some extra chocolate dipping items to bring home with what was left of our chocolate drizzled on top. And she only gave us our favorite items- Rice Krispy Treats, strawberries and banana. Trust me, it's much more delicious than it looks in this picture.

Day 215: Virginia and Dude

Paige and Virginia are going and spending a couple of nights with Grandma Cindy and Dude before we all head to West Virginia for our family reunion this weekend. The girls and I met my parents for dinner tonight so that my mom could take the girls home with her while my dad went to pick up Uncle Todd, Aunt Sandra and Keats from the airport. We got to the restaurant first and were waiting outside when Dude got there. He came and scooped Virginia up into his arms.

Day 214: Home Sick

I was supposed to work today and the girls were supposed to go to daycare, but they both spiked fevers yesterday afternoon. Virginia woke up this morning with a temperature of 101.8, so home we stayed. She seemed to be doing fine all day. The only time she had a fever was when I took her temperature at 7am. She was a little whinier and more cuddly than normal, but that's about it. At one point this morning Paige and Virginia cuddled up together on one of their couches. They normally fight to keep each other off of their couch, so it was really sweet to see them like this.

Day 213: Daddy's Girls

This is where I found Ben and the girls at one point this morning. I had moved the toy box into the kitchen on Friday because Paige and Virginia were standing on it after I'd told them not to and we just hadn't given it back to them yet. They love sitting on it when it's in the living room, and I guess they also enjoy sitting on it in the kitchen with their daddy, too.
