Materpiece

Before my sweet sisters make fun of me, yes... Sandy Patti is singing on my blog and yes, I meant for that to happen.

The other day, Caroline came home singing a song that her class is learning in music. It was a song that I performed in a church musical when I was little and it was done by Sandy Patti. Does anyone remember the "Friendship Company"????!!! I think her class is singing it for kindergarten graduation, so we went to itunes to find it so we could download it to our ipod. When I typed in "Sandy Patti", tons of songs came up including "Masterpiece"--the song playing. I remembered hearing this ALLLLLL the time on our local Christian station when I was growing up. It never really meant anything to me, but now that I'm a mommy, whoa! When I clicked on it to play, I got a huge, old lump in my throat and before I knew it, I had hit the "buy it" button.

I love to listen to this song and sing it to my kids now--Caroline's even started to sing it. It brings tears to my eyes each time I hear it and the words are so sweet. And to make it even more sweet, look what I found while cleaning this weekend:

A true masterpiece, Roy Austin Graham, Jr. at 7 weeks, 4 days...after I thought I may have miscarried him. But nope! There he is! This is such a treasured picture of him--look at his little tail!

Oh, and call me crazy, but I LOVE Sandy Patti!

Things That Annoy Me About Shopping at SouthPark Mall on December 20th

I thought I was done with my shopping, and I was very proud of myself. I realized this morning that I had to head to SouthPark Mall to run a quick errand. Lucky for me, I only had my two girls, so I thought it would be a quick in/quick out trip. Hmmm....After being in a huge traffic jam at 1:20 in the afternoon on Sharon Road, I quickly realized that this could be a very bad decision that I made.

1. The parking decks were ALL filled. Even the top of the deck between Belk and Nordstrom (which is never full and where we finally ended up finding a spot).
2. Why is is that the department stores put these huge displays of makeup, jewelry and perfume right in the middle of the aisles right in the front of the mall entrances? It makes for a constant traffic jam and lots of irritable people (especially with strollers).
3. I think adults should have to complete a refresher course on how to walk in public. STAY TO THE RIGHT, people! This is concept learned in kidergarten!!! It annoys me so much when people walk to their left, making you (who are walking to the right) have to get out of the way, or stop...again, while pushing a stroller.
4. People who stroll slowly through the main sections of the mall, seeming to have no cares in the world, while texting. If you're going to text, move out of the way or sit down. Don't be a traffic jammer. And while I'm on this point, families or friends who shop together and walk slowly while in a horizontal line--taking up all the room in the passer-by areas.
5. Children who hang on the stroller handle bar while you're trying to push the stroller, making it harder to push. Yes, I think I said more than 10 times, "Please don't hang on the stroller!".

So, I'm home now and in my comfy clothes. My baby is up in her bed screaming. She missed her nap and she's not about to take one now, my oldest is watching a Christmas Hallmark Movie (she loves them, like her Mommy!!), my sweet boy is playing his heart out at a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party and I promise my bah-humbugness has passed. The Christmas lights are all glowing in the house and I am feeling comforted and joyed:) Merry Christmas!

It's That Time of Year Again!

One of the things I love about the upcoming Fall season is the beginning of all the consignment sales that take place around Charlotte. I was so sad when Divine Consign decided to stop having their sales. This particular sale sold only upscale items and smocks galore. I was a big fan:) The same year they decided to leave, a new sale popped up...The Posh Closet!

They are about to have their fall sale and I am looking forward to it. Every year I say the same thing..."My kids are pretty much set. They don't really need a thing." and yet, there I am....browsing through the racks and finding that one (or more!!) outfit that is just too cute not to claim. The couple that run this sale go to our church and they have a really sweet family.

The sale starts on September 14 and runs through the 15th. From 6-9pm on the 15th, select items ar 30% off. I like to return for that sale:) They have sizes newborn-18 and there is a huge selection. Go here for more information and for the brands they accept!

If anyone in my family needs any cute church clothes let me know!

Somewhere in Time

I think I need to explain today's love song choice. It's the theme from the movie Somewhere in Time. This movie is such a good one--very romantic and a chill giver. And the music in it is so pretty. I even have the soundtrack! My sisters and I watched this movie all the time growing up. Roy even likes it. In fact, I would love for us to watch it tonight but DOLLY has my copy!

Anyway, it's an excellent movie where the quotes "Come back to me" and "RICHARD!!!!" will reel you in. Apparently WGN will be playing it twice on V-Day. I didn't realize until recently that there is such a cult following of this movie, so go here to learn more about the storyline and more about the fan club. It's even going to be turned into a Broadway show, soon. Reber sisters and Mom, do you want to go to NYC to see it? Could be a fun girls get-away?!
