Summer Adventures

We have had a great summer! It is sadly coming to a close. :-( I return to work on July 31, and then these babies start kindergarten on August 11.

Whaaaaat? Where has the time gone? I feel a little sad that we are starting this new phase, but I know they will love it!!
As for summer, we have been taking it easy around here. I had a pretty tough semester in school, so we decided not to sign up for any camps, etc. We have had lots of fun together at the pool, lake,  farmers' market,  Frog Legs, splash park, the park, and at home.

Last night we took in a Biscuits game. It was a really good game that came down to the Biscuits winning in the bottom of the 9th. I will get some pictures uploaded from that soon. We also have the twins' birthday coming up in August. This is the most talked about birthday so far. Fran has been talking about it for MONTHS!! Hope it lives up to all of the expectations she has in her head! Ha!!

Summer Fun!

Just a fast summer update because this summer is going by so FAST! We are having fun and looking foward to more, but I must confess that I do not want July to come. I go back to work in July. :-( Oh well. We will soak up as much fun as we can while we can! :-)

A few shots of summer so far...

We have been swimming and the twins took swimming lessons, too! They are regular little fish these days....pushing the limits on swimming "in the deep". Their confidence is soaring. I just need mine to catch up with where they want to be!

End of the school year

The end of the school year is kinda like the beginning for teachers.. both are hectic! This year the twins were doing all of their end of the year stuff, too. We have had several "lasts" this month. Last day of school, last t-ball game...

The kids LOVED the year they spent with Mrs. Leonard in Pre-K! It was the best experience! They learned so much, and it confirmed our decision to let the twins wait a year for kindergarten. They are so ready for kindergarten now, and I am so thankful their first school experience was such a good one. We have decided to ask the school to place them in the same class next year. I talked to their teacher, and she felt like it worked great this year and that there wouldn't be any problems. I think it will be good for them to have each other as they move to a new school setting. Being a twin can be tough in some ways, but always having a same-age buddy is a nice perk!

P.S. Excuse them while they grow three inches. They're giants, I tell ya!

The t-ball season has come to a close. We had awesome coaches, and we really enjoyed the season!

And then there was the receiving of "the golden trophy". My Fran could not have been more excited about her trophy. I will admit that I am not a huge fan of participation trophies, but in a game where no one wins or loses, that's pretty much the only kind you can get. Besides the coach said, by his count, he is fairly certain we were undefeated. ;-)

One final 'first' was a little tooth injury for Fran. She fell at school and bumped her mouth. Uhhh!! She was totally doing some kind of crazy move on the playground equipment, too. There was a dramatic meltdown about the busted lip, but she also hit her tooth. Now, it is getting darker. We are still holding out hope that it will lighten up some. She thinks it will come out and the tooth fairy will come. I think I am SO not ready for my baby to start losing teeth. It turns them into a 'kid'. I fight that. Let's be Mama's babies for a while longer. I do love a cute little snaggle tooth, though, so maybe it won't be too bad.

For now, we are looking forward to spending our days doing this...

Or this...
And then maybe a little more of this...

HAPPY SUMMER, Y'all!

I surprised you, didn't I?

You thought I was gone again!

Lots of fun in April! I'm pretty sure I love a five year old! They are so fun and sweet (mostly)!

Frannie and I really enjoyed Rush's trip home from t-ball. We giggled and laughed and took photos at stop lights. He really loved his popcorn. Or he was in a sugar coma from having Gatorade, popcorn,  Oreos, and Kona Ice for lunch after the t-ball game.

And then there was Easter. And we almost made it through a holiday weekend with the fam without having anyone vomit or run fever. OR have to go to Urgent Care with a potential arm injury. He was fine, but we really like to keep it dramatic if at all possible, so we decided to have some bones x-rayed.  Oh, and there was that Egg Hunt at the Pre-K. I took some time off from work to go help out with hiding  eggs (aka... tossing into wide open space) and to watch the other fun Easter stuff. Can you tell which picture Fran was about to fall apart in and the one in which all was right in her world? She couldn't find all 12 of her eggs. Then she did. P.S.  It was 40 degrees at the egg hunt. Excuse this Alabama weather. P.P.S.  While I froze and threw the eggs out, I also stepped in an ant bed. And they stung me or whatever they do. And it hurt. And there will be scars. P.P.P.S Will is so cute!! Ok. That is Easter in a nutshell!

Green belts were earned in Tae Kwon Do! And Spring was made even more spectacular as we watched our SF show us all her moves in gymnastics.

And. I registered my babies for Kindergarten. Like the real grown up kind. Like when you finish all of the years you graduate from high school and leave your Mama forever kind. They are happy and I am not sure how I feel. So that's April, folks. Blogger guilt gone until June 1. I will be back then to tell you about May. At least it's something, right?

T-Ball!!!!

I A couple of months ago, Phil said he listened in on a conversation on the way to school with the kids that entailed Rush convincing SF to play t-ball with him. She reluctantly agreed, and Phil quickly signed them up before anyone could change their mind. :-) Fast forward to today and we have two kids that are IN LOVE with t-ball!! It is pretty much all we talk about here. Phil encourages that quite a bit. :-) They have both had the chance to play pitcher. And if you've ever been to a t-ball game you already know they are the only position that moves. Ever. There is a reason that the rest of the players are picking flowers and playing in the dirt. They're bored.  Despite the lack of action in the infield, it is still our favorite new activity! We have also been fortunate to have great coaches.
He loves the green monster inside his glove!

This pose was completely her choice. All I said was "Smile!" What will we DO with her? All she needs to do is poke her lips out and hold up two fingers and she would be 13. (What is up with that pose the young ones are doing, by the way?)

Pitching debut for both...

Does being the only girl on the team matter around here? Not a bit! There was talk amongst the coaches last night at the end of practice about SF batting cleanup today in the game. They used the words "they'll never see her coming". My baby girl can "knock the fire out of a baseball". Like in the air into the outfield. Not every time, but almost!  It's so funny!! She gets her female athletic ability from her Aunt Ivy. Wish I could say it was from me...but no. Not from me. :-)

Rush is all about fielding the ball. Actually making an out in t-ball is kinda rare. Well, Rush can scoop them up. During his first game he actually legitimately threw a little boy out at first. He then proceeded to do a little fist pump to himself to celebrate. Ummm...who is this kid? This goes against his nature just a bit. He isn't the aggressive type, so it was strange to see! He then looked up at Phil. Phil pointed at him and Rush put his little hand up to Phil. Ok. Quit being fifteen. Stay little, buddy.

That was a little shameless Mama-bragging, and I know it. If your Mama can't brag on you, who can?

Car Picnic

Look at these two goof balls! I got to pretend I was a Stay at Home Mom this week for my Spring Break. I took the kids to school each morning and picked them up at 12. I cleaned out my attic (kinda),  and I managed to squeeze in some shopping. We also enjoyed a picnic lunch one day. This is what is happening in the picture. The weather was not super fabulous, so it ended being a car picnic because it was TOO windy to deal with trying to be outside. We tried a picnic table and ended up chasing picnic stuff across the park. They loved it because they got to sit in the front seat. And eat Doritos.
