Senior Wars

We are less than a month away from Alex’s graduation.  A month.  I just spent the past hour in the hot tub talking to Alex and man, oh, man… I am going to miss that boy!!

One of the school’s traditions is the Junior/Senior wars.  It involves toilet paper (lots of it) and anything else they decide to do.  We weren’t hit last year so imagine my surprise when I woke up one morning to this:

TP2 TP1

Keith thought it was the funniest thing ever and Andrew thought it was awesome.  We explained to him what was going on and he said “Let’s go get ‘em!”.  This boy is going to be trouble when he is a senior.  Lucky for me, I didn’t find the defrosted fish from the grocery market on the front step.

That night, Alex went to his first prom (his school prom is this Friday).  He went with his friend Lindsey who you might remember from last year.  She looked absolutely beautiful and Alex was a charmer, broken wrist and all.  (He broke his wrist on spring break when he fell snowboarding.)

LindsProm1 Our schedule is packed full the next few weeks… Alex’s swim team is being honored by the board of Commissioners within our county, the Senior High Awards banquet, two AP exams (Calculus and Economics), final exams and then…. GRADUATION!!

It’s happening way too fast, but Alex is more than ready.  I’m excited to see him go through the next four years, but will miss him so much!

Toodles!

P.S.  Still going to the gym… and, oddly, I am loving it! :-)

Look out Sports Illustrated

… in 6 more months, surely I’ll be on the cover of the swimsuit edition, right??

The family joined the gym on Saturday and today was our first day going.  Let’s just say I have a LONG way to go before I make it as a bikini model especially considering the fact that it’s killing my arm muscles to even type this post. :-)

Anyone that knows me, knows I HATE working out.  I hate sweat, expending energy and walking in one spot for 60 mins.  So why join a gym?  Because liposuction hurts and there doesn’t appear to be a couch workout that is successful, as of yet.

Today I did about 45 mins cardio (treadmill and stair climber) and then headed to the pool to swim some laps.  You see, in high school, I was on the varsity swim team and was even captain.  There was no doubt that 15 years later I would be able to hop right in and swim without an issue.  Well, let me be the first to tell you that I was huffing and puffing after my first 25.  I managed to keep myself going for about 30 mins and then I crawled my way over to the hot tub to ease my aching muscles.

I picked Andrew up from child care (which is fabulous, by the way!) and then took him back to the pool.  He had an absolute blast until he realized he wasn’t allowed to ride on the slides because he can’t swim well enough.  He didn’t like that one bit and if my arms weren’t like a bowl full of jello, I would have picked him up and carried him out of there!  Thankfully, after a nice talking to, he calmed down.

I thought working out was supposed to energize you.  Instead, on the way home, I stopped and bought a Reese’s PB cup (I ate one, Andrew ate the other), I looked at the back of the package and realized I just negated my time on the treadmill so I came home and took a nap. :-)  I think I have a long way to go before I get into the swing of this whole working out/cutting back thing.  That Sports Illustrated thing might have to wait 6 years or so and by then gravity will have taken over.  Oh well, a girl can dream! :-)

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Unbelievable

Please keep the families waiting to adopt from Russia, those who have met their referrals and the Russian children in your thoughts and prayers as the United States and Russia try to settle the latest adoption mess.

I'm stunned, heartbroken for so many families and am hoping for the best for everyone. For those of you not sure what I'm talking about, you can read about it here.

To the waiting families - don't lose hope. I know it's hard and the not knowing is even more difficult, but just have faith. There are many, many of us that went through delays and uncertainty and we're here to support you in any way we can.

Hang in there everyone. Sorry to post something so heavy on a gorgeous Friday afternoon.

Hugs!

Long time, no post

Where have we been? What have we been doing? Well, SPRING HAS SPRUNG and we might have also entered summer for a day or two with temperatures reaching in the upper 80’s. Crazy weather so far this year!!

Since I don’t have the energy to write how about letting the pictures tell the story?

We (Andrew) spent the day with Nana and Grandpa and went on an Easter Egg hunt.

Last, but not least… we stopped by the lake on our way home one evening. We wanted to stick our feet in the water to see how cold it was. Well, Andrew was inevitably soaking wet after saying “just one more step, k?” about 10 times. :-) The result? A naked ride home… (sorry for the poor quality – was taken with my bberry at dusk)
