O to grace how great a debtor, daily I'm constrained to be;
let that grace now, like a fetter, bind my wand'ring heart to thee.
Prone to wander -- Lord I feel it -- prone to leave the God I love:
Here's my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.

Snow Days and Winter Fun!

Our first snow of the year came last night. The kids were so giddy, they didn't want to go to bed. It started around 6 p.m., so we already had about 1 - 1 1/2 inches when they went to bed.  It looks like a total of about 3 - 4 inches. Maggie was giggling and squealing when she woke up. Thankfully, the kids were patient and let us move slowly before heading out. They played a while in the backyard with Babe before breakfast. Babe was hilarious. She tucked her tail between her legs when she found her ball and took off running around the yard. She had us all laughing.
After a yummy breakfast of bacon, egg and cheese toasters, grits and orange juice, we bundled up well and headed out in the front. Even Babe came with us and had a great time. The kids each piled up snow for mountains, hills and snowmen, then the snowballs started flying. We quickly had to make the rule of no snow in the head (at least for the kids) because of the tears. Ahhh, one day they won't be so sensitive, I can only hope. But it was lots of fun, and I was exhausted and out of breath! For now, we are relaxing and doing a little schoolwork and playing some games indoors. Ryan is home, which is a treat, and the kids are loving some extra Daddy-time.

This is the "before" picture of our front yard.

Love how the snow piles up on things.

The camo suits really kept the guys warm. Ryan actually got overheated during the snowball fight and retired inside for the morning.

Don't know if you can see Meredith's face, but she was not happy with taking pictures. She said it was too bright!

Babe was a little crazy still.  And Meredith is now in tears. The rest of us have smiles!

The solution -- SUNGLASSES!

Babe trying to escape from the photo shoot.

Sorry, but I just love the contrast in colors! And Babe is such a sweet dog.

Showing the snow depth.

Now this is my cheerful Meredith.

Reading time

Here are a few other pictures of some of our winter activities:
Meredith in her tutu skirt from Jan Jan with her cozy princess slippers and her princesses from Disney World. She has LOVED playing with these all week.

Mama laid down on the couch for a short rest only to wake up and see this -- sound asleep.

Another little surprise outfit from Jan Jan. Meredith immediately changed clothes to wear it.
This is Will's cheetah "Jason" that he bought at Disney World. He is fine in this picture, but the week before he had died -- from rabies.

Just some silliness.

And as part of our school curriculum, we are having photography lessons. This was Will's turn.

Maggie had to try several times, but we finally got one that wasn't blurred.

Maggie helped me cook some meat and onions for Santa Fe soup so that she could wear her new apron and chef's hat.
