Our First Christmas Tree

I got all these decorations at a 4-H grab bag sale for $5 but I haven't had a tree to hang them on. This year Ryan's parents let us borrow one of theirs that they weren't using. It's the perfect size for our apartment. I love Christmas time!

Ryan's Job

Ryan accepted a job offer from the place he interned with this last summer! We'll be moving to Burbank in May and he'll start in June there. We are super excited for this to be our last freezing winter and to live so close to family: my sister in Valencia and Ryan's sister in Anahiem.

Halloween

Is it just me or does Halloween kind of get less fun when people stop giving you candy when you dress up and go door to door?

I'm glad alli and cory were there to keep us entertained! We love hanging with you guys! Thanks for having us over!

(oh I thought Trish was quite clever with the kids costumes this year so they should go up on my website too.)

(oh and this is gwen dressed as a penquin...get it Pen-Gwen!)

California Trip

We went to California one weekend for my new niece's blessing. Oh my heck I miss that family! Max is so old and so fun to talk to! Sadie is the best ever! She's so sweet and creative in her play. Anyway, we didn't get near enough time with them. We left Friday night and got back Sunday night. But it was tons of fun! Ryan and I got all of Brizingr read. Pretty good series still but also a middle book so not fulfilling. Recommend the Eragon series though. It's very interesting and has a very detailed world that it occurs in.

Facebook

At the request of my old boss and current friend, I started a facebook page so that I could stay in contact with her. I love her and want to keep in contact with her but I get like 20 emails a day from facebook. I'm starting to get used to it and created a filter that will filter it all into a seperate folder so I can look at when I want to. So far it's been a really cool way to stay in touch with old friends and even some cousins and relatives that I never see but once a year at Christmas if even then.
So, all in all I'm glad she made me do it.
Here I am facebook users, come and get me.

What color do you wear most often?

When it comes to self-expression, color is primary. To determine your color, just open your closet door—it’s the single shade you wear the most.

Orange
Positives: You are nurturing, outgoing, creative, practical, and competent.
Negatives: Competitive, restless. Off with orange when you feel confused.
Brown
Positives: Honest and down-to-earth, you prefer a structured lifestyle.
Negative: You may avoid problems. Down with brown if you need a lift.
Green
Positives: You are benevolent and humanistic with a keen eye for detail.
Negatives: Overly cautious, untrusting. Give up green when you’re indecisive.
Red
Positives: You are physically active and highly motivated—a natural leader. Negatives: Short-tempered, impulsive. Run from red when you’re feeling tense.
White
Positives: You are positive, well-balanced, and eternally optimistic.
Negative: You may isolate yourself. White’s out when you feel lonely.
Blue
Positives: You are an intelligent achiever who feels deeply.
Negative: You overreact to extroverts. Bag blue when you’re feeling… blue.
Purple
Positives: You are sensitive and intuitive and have high aspirations.
Negatives: Arrogant, rude, impatient. Prohibit purple when you feel used.
Yellow
Positives: You are an interesting, aspiring, cope-with-anything individual. Negative: You may worry too much. Yellow’s a lemon if you feel vulnerable.
Black
Positives: You are strong-willed, disciplined, and independent.
Negative: You may lack confidence. Ban black when you need to mingle.

Farewell Kylie

Kylie left to serve her mission in Little Rock, Arkansas. I'm so happy for her and I'm sure she will have a great time! I hope that she knows how much we love her and support her in her choice to serve a mission.

Ryan's Home!

I have a whole new respect for wives of people in the army, marines, navy, air force, coast gaurd.
So, a big thank you to the people who helped Ryan and I through this whole summer.

Thanks to my mom and dad for letting me annoy them whenever I had freetime and eat their food!

Thanks Clayton for including me in dinners and in your cliques at family parties!

Thanks to Leland and Linda for letting me stay at your house and for all of your moral support throughout our entire marriage, not to mention this summer.

Thanks to my sisters,
Courtney for letting me bother you with texts,
Mandi for letting me drag you all the way up to park city to go shopping,
Trish for being so neighborly to Ryan while he was up in Cali, and
Kylie for talking with me, I really like talking so thanks for being my sounding board.

Thanks to the Heyborne's for letting Ryan hang around so much.

Thanks to Max and Sadie for keeping Ryan entertained this summer! You guys are so much fun and he misses playing with you guys so much!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Yellowstone!

So, brace yourself West family but Ryan had never been to Yellowstone before he married me. Luckily we got to go up there with some free time this summer when I had family camp up near jackson hole. Last summer when I ran family camp we got to see old faithful but the weather turned bad and we couldn't see a lot more then that. This year with our one day in Yellowstone Ryan really wanted to see wild life. I called my dad to find out where we would find the fields of buffalo and it turns out it was on our way to Yellowstone's lower falls that I really wanted to see.
Oh boy did we find animals in the wild. This first one is of a bear although you wont be able to see him because we kept SO far away. The next picture is of some coyote or wolves. Then we found a couple bucks. Pretty successful trip all in all.

Here are some pictures of a different kind of wild life.

I'm a loser....

Take Your Pick

What's Your Motto? Here are some that I like.

Happiness is not a state to arrive but a manner of travelling
Do or do not, there is no try
I don't suffer from insanity; I enjoy every minute of it.
I'm not a complete idiot -- Some parts are just missing.
Consciousness: That annoying time between naps.
Wrinkled was not one of the things I wanted to be when I grew up.
Procrastinate Now!
The purpose of life is a life of purpose.
What doesnt kill you only makes you stronger.

There were three jolly fishermen...

Oh man! I love these kids! We went up Little Cottonwood Canyon and took them camping. They loved everything about it and they are so fun to be with. Max made his first fire ever. A little boy after my own heart. I'm going to try to raise him right. Although honestly I had a little mishap with fire recently.

We were doing fireworks with the kids and we had started doing sparklers. The wind was so bad that we couldn't get the sparklers to light right. So, I was leaning a garbage can over and lighting them inside of it and handing them off. I was handing a lit one over to Max and I leaned over to get another match so I could light some more and all I see is a bright ball of FLAME sitting next to me on the dry grass. A spark from the sparkler had caught the matches inside the box on fire! I freaked out and luckily we had a big bucket of water in front of me for making sure that fireworks were out before we threw them away so I scooped it up with a sparkler box that was empty and threw it in and it floated. And that was AWESOME seeing a big ball of flame floating on top and then my sister ruined it by shoving it under the water!

I HATE LOOKING FOR AN APARTMENT

Grrr.... I hate trying to find an apartment that I like and has what we want for the price we want. Especially in Provo when something will post and that day the apartment will be gone. I don't even get to make Ryan choose with me. He trusts me or something to pick one out on my own. I'm starting to think that this whole internship thing was just to get out of having to pick an apartment out for the school year.

Ryan got a job offer!

Well Ryan was officially offered a job next year with this accounting firm that he's with this summer. It's nice to know that this separation this summer hasn't been in vain. We probably wont have an answer for a while, (like Octoberish). Starting with one of the bigger accounting firms is more prestigious. But we really like the idea of living so close to my family and especially brand new niece! I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

I love my brother in law!

As many of you know my brother in law is LDS and is also in a beer commercial airing right now. For any of you that would like to comment or take offense to this let me just say a couple things.

I love Kirby like I love any member of my family. He's so caring about his kids and wife that I wish every dad could be more like him. Every minute he isn't working he is playing pretend with his son or pushing his daughter in a swing. He attends church and faithfully fulfills a calling. He has a testimony that shows in his every action. I look up to him and respect him so much.

Here is the situation as I see it. My sister is pregnant expecting in September (yay!).
They need a bigger house and have been renting ever since they moved to California.
Kirby doesn't make huge amounts of money but they do well enough that they are able to sustain themselves in the expensive state of California right? I'm sure with the baby on the way they have prayed for opportunities for Kirby to support the family.
Am I so narrow sighted that I couldn't consider the beer commercial opportunity an answer to prayer?

It all boils down to this... Is he still as worthy to enter the temple as he was before he did this commercial? YES For me that's all I would need to know.

What is sad is that people would attack Kirby for his choice. If his testimony really were lacking or if he was really having a hard time getting work, why would people who profess living better and making the best choice attack and publicly denounce him and his actions? I think this is truly a case of "he who is without sin cast the first stone" but since he is "famous" he should be perfect in all of his choices so he is a good role model, right? Well, he didn't ask to be a role model and if anyone wants to show true concern for him, I welcome your comments.

Sunburned again

Well, I'm sunburned again. I knew it would happen. Why do I allow it to happen? I don't know. I could feel it. I got burned last year too. Usually I don't like making myself feel and smell all gross but this year I have this really cool spray sunscreen even so I don't have to get all greasy lotiony. So what's wrong with me? Don't answer that. I think I'm scared to hear what you would say.
I'm not burned so bad luckily. The funny thing though...I was in California for a couple days visiting Ryan. Then I came home to work and I got burned at work. The world is filled with irony I guess.

Life without your other half...

Well, Alli asked how life without Ryan was going. Well, its hard and everyday is easier. I'm glad its only for two months. And I know that military people are away from their spouses way longer so I'm not complaining just explaining.
I think that there are hard things for me that make it easier for Ryan to be in Cali.
For example, my toothbrush looks lonely in the toothbrush holder now so that reminds me that he's gone.
I have to sleep in a bed that we usually share. It's big and lonely...
Ryan is making his own way, the lack of me isn't staring him in the face everytime he turns around.
However, I have family and friends around. I can keep busy and have lots of people to chat with and keep my mind off things.
Ryan has my sister's family around but the kids go to bed an hour after he gets home from work. So, he doesn't get a lot of interaction from people that he knows real well.
He also is married without a spouse so who is he supposed hang out with or make friends with? Married people makes it awkward becuase you can feel like a third wheel.
Single people want to date and hang out where they can hook up with someone. But you can't become real good friends in two months time.
So, if you are in Utah give me a call if you are doing anything I can join you for! And if you have sometime send Ryan and email or give him a call. He aching for people he knows that he can talk to.

May Weather

I thought April had crazy weather. Usually by march we are kind of calming down as far as random weather patterns, Right? Doesn't the 80-90 degree weather start this month and we all complain about our electric bills going up and start buying more ice cream? Where are my few days of sunshine? Why is it snowing outside? And if May isn't going to be normal weather, is June going to be the normal 90-100 degree weather and we are going to skip May weather all together?

Happy Birthday Mom!!

Well so after what seems like a VERY long time, Ryan and I used our extra money that he earns for volunteering for me to buy new phones on T-mobile that have....(pause for dramatic effect)....TEXTING!!! We are very excited as well some of you may know because we want to use our new toy so much. We joined a month early so we have two phone numbers right now and then we'll switch the phone numbers over in May. Let me just tell you that I know I'm behind in the times when my 50 + years father already uses texting and I don't.

Work

You know I was excited about not going into anything business like and that I'm pretty much set as far as being a full time mom (which is what I want). However, I find that to be a supportive wife that I end up going to things with Ryan for his job all the time. I want to go and learn things and see what possibilities there are for Ryan and thus where we might end up living and such. I'm finding that I'm having to learn etiquette rules and make polite small talk with professionals. I don't know if you know me but I'm not exactly professional. I'm goofy, and clumsy, and silly... I work with little kids which is exactly where I belong. I'm no good at being serious.

Stress

I am feeling more than my fair share of stress this week. I'm not sure why because while work is busy and a slightly out of control, it is still manageable and well there are just some things I can ignore til later. I wish stress were something you could divide up and hide for later. For example, I misplaced my digital camera that I have been using for work. Now when I thought about it (well and prayed about it because lets face it I lost my last digital camera and those do not come cheap so apparently I am just that skilled at losing that particular item) I remembered that I had it at work and didn't get it put back before I got locked out of the school. So, I put it some place special that I would be sure to remember when I went looking for it again. That's what I want to do with stress. Take it apart and put it somewhere "special" that I will completely forget about because I do. And then when I come across that worry not done then I can worry about it.
Not doable, but still I wish my memory weren't so great sometimes because when I get stressed out it seems to work my brain overtime!

Easter?

Easter was great this year. Ryan and I got really busy the week before and ran out of time to prepare easter baskets with presents and stuffed eggs. The only truely dissapointing part of this occurence is that we didn't get to decorate easter eggs which is my favorite. Oh well, it was nice to spend Easter together without worrying about hiding eggs or baskets. We went to both of our family parties and had fun just spending time with our families.
What a relaxing Easter day, and it was great to just concentrate on our savior's atonement for our sins and the fast that we will live again because he has given us the chance. I'm so excited to live the rest of my life and my life after death with my wonderful husband. I pray that I can be perfect enough to deserve it.

Xbox Poll

Camille and Mary have informed me that there is an option not listed. They believe that once you realize that you have wasted time playing that you should stop. For Mary that would be never picking it up and Camille thinks that 1 to 2 hours of playing should be enough.

Summer...Bittersweet

Well, the weather is turning warm (well on some days anyway) and slowly my mind keeps turning to the happy and the sad that summer has to bring. For those of you who don't know, Ryan has secured an internship this summer for two months in California. However, I need to stay behind and keep my job.

Pro+He will get great experience and learn whether or not he wants to work for a small firm
Con-I will be so bored without him here

Pro-We will only have to go 2 and half weeks at the longest without seeing each other
Con-We will be living in different STATES for 2 months

Pro+We will be saving a lot of money
Con-Living in California can be rather expensive

Pro+I don't have to live by myself because we'll move in with Ryan's parents at the end of April
Con-We will be moving for the fourth time in two years

Pro+Ryan is going to live next door to my sister who lives in California
Con- I'm so totally jealous that he gets to live in California for 2 months!

So, like I said...I'm looking forward to one Bittersweet Summer

Top Ten TV Shows by Kimi

10. The Dick Van Dike Show ( come on it had to make it on here, I've seen these shows a million times and they still make me laugh)
9. Avatar (cartoon about kids with unique powers, love the kids shows, no sex or drugs on there!)
8.Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (This cartoon is so cute! If you are a parent you gotta let your kids watch this one!)
7. Mythbusters (I feel smarter watching it and yet it's entertaining!)
6.CSI (it gets grosser every season and yet I keep coming back to it because of the mystery)
5. Mad About You (Seen the reruns since I was little and it's all the funnier now that I'm married)
4. Heroes (unique ideas and views of the world and hello Blowing things up is always cool!)
3. House (so funny as well as unique, I wish he existed in real life!)
2. Friends (it's gotta be good if I've watched reruns of each show probably 3 times each)
1. Gilmore Girls (high paced comedy and drama but with Morals!)
