She Rolled Over!

Elise was on her back when I went to go get her from her nap! (please no comments about laying her on her tummy to sleep, she just sleeps better and I have a monitor to tell me when she stops breathing or moving so I think we are safe.) She was screaming her head off and I think quite scared that she had done it. All I could think was "Yay, you can do it!" However I don't think she'll be doing it again anytime soon. Oh well I'm pretty happy she isn't very mobile yet. It's just nice to know she could be if she wanted to. She also slowly scoots across the floor as toys get away from her. She stretches forward so far that she ends up moved forward quite a bit.
Here is a pic of her two teeth. Oh also she's started to grow real hair. A month ago I was getting pretty sad because her baby hair was falling out and she was getting pretty sparse on top. Now it's filling in and she has little bangs that swoop across her forehead. LOVE it!
We took this at the doctors today while waiting thirty five minutes for the nurse to give her the shots. She is officially 7 months old today!

So Sleepy....

The other day, much before nap time, I look over to Elise because she's been kinda quiet. Apparently she has inherited her mom's propensity to take naps wherever she wants to.
These are some pictures of her awake and in her excersaucer. I swear she likes it most of the time.

Swimming!

Ryan got to come home early Friday from work so we got to take Elise swimming for her first time! She was great! She cried a little bit when Dad kept disappearing and reappearing and making splashy noises that she wasn't familiar with. But once she figured out that we were in huge bathtub she splashed with her whole body quite a bit.
She was great flailing her arms and legs. She would splash it in her face and just blink and squint and then go right back to splashing!
She was quite unstable when we put her legs through the holes in her frog tube.
So we opted to put her more so it cradled her more in it. She looked so peaceful. She would laugh and hit the water and kick her legs against her tube but for the most part she just watched mom and dad bob around in the water.

WARNING: This may be a video that only a grandparent or parent could love.

Happy Mom's Day!

You know what I miss about not being a mom? Sleeping in! Other than that I finally feel like I'm doing what I was meant to do. Honestly. I didn't really fit in a teenager mold, or a young single adult mold either, for that matter. I was always looking out for my younger sisters but wasn't their mother. I went to school to learn how to raise kids. I got jobs raising others people's kids. And now I finally feel RIGHT about having my own family to take care of. Not that I'm completely happy or everything goes super well all the time. But I'm finally in MY element.
Does that make any sense?

Maybe not but here is a cute picture!

Dad's Get It Done

Ryan usually comes home and there is a landmine of toys stewn across the floor. This last Sunday was an especially grumpy day for Elise and Ryan was trying to entertain her. She was starting to fuss quite a bit and wasn't staying interested in anything. Next thing I know Ryan says "Here!" and plunks her down in her toy trunk. I gotta say she stayed quite happy in there for a while. Here's a pic of her hanging out in the midst of her toys.
