hello y'all! haven't updated my blog (as usual)
but i'm here to say byebye and have a merry merry xmas and happy new year!
i'm going off in 2.5 hours' time to london to meet with the akieuropeans! (most of them anyway)
will be back to glasgow with nyeo after new years! omg so exciting!

submission ended on 18th but i don't feel well at all! i think i passed though, what the hell lah. but it is the slackest submission of my entire aki life. even my year 1 sem 2 had a final model to accompany the lousy panels. ah well. bygones!

wah i think it all sounds abit high class: go london for christmas lah, glasgow here and there, but somehow when you're in it, you don't really feel it's that special, if you know what i mean.

anyhoo, it's time for me to take a bath and double check and stick a salon as on my aching shoulder as i carry my frikin heavy backpack to the bus station!

hello all!!! LOL i havent blogged at all since i reached UK!!!
but my facebook has alot of photos from the swiss trip!
everything has been so good so far but it takes ALOT of effort to start doing work!
here are a few pictures to share with u all...

me and molly missing local food.

we decided to do a steamboat on paper and draw things we want in the pot...

and then we had a competition to see who can list the most yummy food we miss the most :(


now are some photos from the highlands, where you can picture lord of the rings happening at any corner:

this was taken at culloden, where the jacobites (pro scottish independence) fought with the government (aka england). the jacobites used flimsy swords and wooden shields, which were formidable in hand combat, but the english had artillery, which killed most of the jacobites before they could get near.
as the tour guide said "if you are looking for a happy ending, well, there isn't"

here's a pic of inverness, where we stayed for 3 nights in the b&b here. its really v pretty!!! inverness is called the capital of the scottish highlands.


this is pic of glasgow's goma (gallery of modern art) the building is a 17th century government/bank served building which was finally converted into goma. the staircase is really beautiful.


this is isle of skye. too bad that day was raining super heavily and the wind is incredible (hence mine and my brother's expression)


this is salisbury church. its currently under renovation. it holds 1 of the 5 surviving magna carta (great paper), which is the only so-called constitution of the uk written in 1215. it was used as the foundation of the US constitution and probably most countries around the world today.


this is Bath Spa in Bath, where the romans came to set up a community before 973BC!!! some cool shite it is! its really amazing to see how well the conditions are carefully kept. the spa tourist circulations were elevated, really respecting the heritage even though its something left by the romans. (hello singapore government, so colonial landmarks aren't evil, pls don't tabular rasa it can)


beautiful beautiful stonehenge, its really quite small, but its still spectacular. i was really very moved upon seeing the real thing for myself. after so much reading on it for so many years, i finally fulfilled one of my life's 'must go' places.

view frm the window of an art gallery just beside the coast of loch ness. no theres no monster.

scottish pple speak gaelic here, which is their mother tongue but the government (AGAIN) wanted to unify the country so forced all to speak proper english (sounds familiar huh) so this gaelic which was considered like a dialect was prohibited! they were even prohibited frm blowing the bagpipes for a few years! ugh. now i know why the scots are so damn angsty all the time.

loch ness. loch is gaelic for river and ness is the name of the river.
like strathclyde, where i'm studying now, strath is gaelic for valley and clyde is the river name. hence strathclyde.

btw do you know? that loch ness never freezes before in winter?!?! thats becos its the largest water body in the whole of uk and it retains heat so well it NEVER FREEZES! i think it froze before hundreds of years ago, but never since then!!!!

a cousin just found me on facebook.

its not just a normal cousin. its a cousin from THE OTHER SIDE of my family, the part where i had no recollection of since 7. i'm unable to comprehend the situation, and the words that came out of my mouth immediately when she identified me by telling me she knew my brother and sister's names was: "farrrkkinnng weird."

she looks totally NOT LIKE ME. i checked out her blog link that she puts on her facebook, and wow. what a life she's having! kate spade bags, overseas education, a pet puppy, etc. but what can i say to all this? i tried hard to run away and forget that part of my life, and i somehow did managed to. i grew up without fussing so much over the fact that i never mentioned much about the other half of my family (except that my ang bao collection has always been half of what others would normally get). and i do think im leading a really normal life after so long.

so when i checked out her facebook profile, i seriously don't know why but i was trying to look out for something that i could point and say "AHA! terrible, horrible person she is!" and ignore her and just move on with my life. on the contrary, she leads a perfectly normal life, just like any other 23 year old singapore girl would. she likes shopping, she watches heroes, and that 70s show, she listens to rachael yamagata, norah jones and even SUEDE for God's sake.

who am i to judge her? who am i to WANT to judge her? just because things ended with bad memories kept doesn't mean life doesn't go on. life DOES go on, and what makes me different from other people? nothing! how do i even begin to understand the feelings i'm having now? i expected myself to start screaming and kicking up a storm over this like i thought i would when i was 7, yet i'm oddly calm and am somehow enlightened and somehow apathetically amused.

the world is really too small. you can never run away from things you want to escape. 1 year down the road, 5 years, 10 years or even 17 years, it WILL get back to you to make you face the truth.

my world is crushed.

and im coming home on the 9th.

You just won by pure luck! I'm sure Mark Spitz must be at home watching and thinking "Ok so you got 7 golds, but I didn't win by luck like this!" It's starting to get into your head Mikey. I hate the fact that there's work tomorrow and I won't be able to see your magnificent swim at 11.26am tomorrow for 4X100m freestyle, 10.16am on tuesday for 200m freestyle, 10.21am on wednesday for 200m butterfly, 11.19am for 4X200m free relay, 10.48am on friday for your 200m individual medley. But I'll be rooting for you all the same!
