Well we finally got home today (saturday) from our week long rodeo in Fort Worth at the Will rogers Coliseum. What a week it was. I posted on tuesday I think about Hunter's first day of riding. He did not cover his sheep, which means he didnt stay on the 6 seconds, on tues. or wed. but he did cover on thursday but that was not enough to make it to the short go on Friday night. Bummer. But even so we had a great time and are very privileged to have even gotten to be a part of such a great week. For those of you who dont know much about rodeoing well let me try to explain what this week was all about. Back in January Hunter started his season with the FPBR which stands for Future Pro Bull Riders Assoiciation. It is held in Granbury, TX. It is only one of several youth bull rideing associations around the world. So a few men got together and decided to take the top riders in each association and let them battle out for the World Title and that is what this week was all about. There were boys there from Louisiana, California, Brazil (yes I said Brazil) and lots of other places as well. It was a really big deal. They gave away in cash and prizes over 90,000.00 dollars. That is amazing for Youth riders. It was put on just like a real pro bull riding. Really Really cool. Another really cool thing about it was that ALL the proceeds of it went to Cooks Children Hospital. One of the slogans was Kids Riding for Kids. WOW. Really cool. So even though Hunter did not do as well as he wanted he still had a great time and was part of the 1st ever Youth Bull riding World Finals rodeo. What a memory to treasure.
One really great thing that did come of the week was that Hunter's cousin, Triston Dean, from Merkel rides Junior Steers and he won the World title. He did awesome and it was really neat to watch him shine. Way to go Triston. We are all very proud of you.
We did not get to do alot of other things while we were in the Fort Worth area all week except we did go to NRH2O on Friday for only about 4 hours but it was fun and good to get to do something other than rodeo.
We are so blessed to have some family that lives in Southlake and they graciously opened up their home to us all week so we didn't have to stay in a hotel. It was great and we appreciate it more than you know.
Thanks so much Jack, Susan, Kali and Jackson. We had a blast.
I have a few pictures that I will post later.
Stay tuned.
