Ya know... it's been quite awhile since I've been "tagged!" So without further ado - here's the latest meme I've been tagged with by HRH!

Four things I'm looking forward to this year:
*Getting a new hearing-aid
*Boo starting 1st grade
*Hopefully a trip to Utah. Need to see my aunts & friends!
*Relaxing on the beach during 4th of July weekend

Four joys in my life:
*Scriptures, really - I GET it now...they're amazing!
*Children
*Art
*Fruit/veggies from my OWN garden

Four movies I've watched more than once or twice:
*North and South
*Return to Me
*Waking Ned Devine
*Star Wars

Three fears:
*Going blind
*Family getting hurt
*Tripping up the stairs in front of people

Four favorite foods:
*I'm with HRH, pasta is divine!
*Chocolate ice-cream
*Strawberries from the garden
*Mushrooms & steak as my husband does it

Three goals I've set for myself:
*Allow more of my true self out
*Finish Kayser's afghan (only 2 more skeins sister!!!)
*Publish my children's story

Four tv shows I watch:
*We don't watch tv anymore. Let me clarify - we used to watch whatever we could get with rabbit-ears. Now, we've cut that out and just watch stuff that doesn't have any swearing, nudity, etc., etc. Surprisingly, British sitcoms usually have something that meets that criteria!
*Ballykissangel - a British show
*... um... that's pretty much it.
*...dooo di dooo.... Are we done with the question yet? Okay! Moving on!

Three current obssessions:
*Notecards - LOVE THEM, especially letterpressed ones!
*Art - creating & observing
*Cookbooks - love vintage ones!

Four places I've visited:
*Boston - LOVED it!
*California - Okay, okay - DISNEYLAND
*Maine
*New Hampshire

Three places I'd like to visit:
*Private island that has white sandy beaches
*Belgium
*Italy
**I should put Guatemala because Hero really, really, REALLY wants to take me down there.

Four random facts about me
*I hate to unload the dishwasher. I'll happily do the dishes and also, will just happily let them sit there until Hero unloads.
*I LOVE the comic, "Calvin & Hobbes." I consider Little Man my Calvin & he does have a pet stuffed tiger. :)
*I love to jet-ski but can't swim in bodies of water where I can't see the bottom. SO - what does that mean? I'll only swim in pools. The thought of swimming in a lake or ocean just freaks me out because I just KNOW something's going to reach up and grab me.
*Love to go camping but only if there are showers available at the site.

Four embarrassing facts:
*You know - the usual tripping over nothing.
*Swore a LOT in my journal as a teen. I'm so mortified by how immature I was that I have yet to read it.
*Can't think of anything....
*Even asked my Hero if he could think of anything... being the Hero he is, he couldn't "remember" anything either.

People I tag:
Any of you who would like to do it.

July 10th is going to be a BIG day for me! I'm going to be getting a hearing aid! I've had my old one for ohhhhh about 20+ years. I know - it should be in a museum of really old hearing-aids. Anyway, I stopped wearing it about 10 years ago because it whistled a lot and the ear-mold (not moldy ear, just the ear-piece) gave me a friction blister that the audiologist couldn't ever fix. ANYWAY - I finally did it. I had my hearing test done today and started to cry when I learned just how AMAZING aids are today! They're DIGITAL! They're programmable! They can program it to block out background noise! They can program it so I can hear my kids better in the back seat of the van! They can program it so music sounds more "in-depth." I am soooo excited!

And? It's going to be BLACK! I know, crazy. But, black goes with everything, right? lol!!!

You guys DID know that I'm completely deaf in my left ear, right? That I have moderate to severe deafness in my right? Yep. But, most people would never know it. Yes - I'm bragging. :)

I'm going out on a limb here..... (wocka wocka)

I was chatting with my friend today, *hola gringa!* and I was telling her how funny it was that I have about 20 people who have sent me emails giving me their particulars so they can participate in the Favorite Things 2008 Swap! BUT - just a few of them have commented on the post itself and nobody has advertised it on their blogs! So uh... are there people not participating because they don't see many comments on the post? Or is my circle of blogging friends kind of small?

SO - I'm not telling you what to do... but wouldn't it be so cool if you advertised this swap so we can get a wide range of people participating?

Hello! Hello! It's time!

*~Favorite Things Swap 2008~*

These details are taken from Jihan's site who took it from... somebody else. This was a total blast when we did it last year. So let's do it THIS YEAR!

Here it is:

Choose at least three objects (seriously, I don't think peeps would mind if you limited yourselves...) that are some of YOUR favorite things to send to your partner. A cute bag, your favorite magazine, jazzy earrings, or perhaps your own favorite mix of music on cd. Have FUN with it. Be creative!

The objects can be new or vintage, bought or handmade... Think to yourself, "Would I totally want to get this for myself?"

SO? Gonna do it? I hope so - and feel free to spread the word.

E-mail your particulars to arastrebbyl@gmail.com.

Particulars? That would be:

>Your name. Not your screen name. No worries, your personal info will only be shared with your swap partner.

>Mailing address

>Email address

>website/blog (must be involved with at least one of these.)

>A little something about yourself.

Swap partner info will be emailed to you shortly after the deadline. The deadline is Monday, July 7th. The delivery date for this swap is Monday, July 21st. Please have it post-marked by then.

Once you receive your package, be sure to post photos on your blog/site & also drop me a line so peeps can see what bit of sunshine YOU got in the mail.

Wanna be inspired? See what my swap partner did last year... Or what Jihan did... Or what HER partner did...

If you have any questions - feel free to drop me a line at arastrebbyl@gmail.com

****PLEASE NOTE****

Please, we'd love to have you join this swap but we need to make sure that you're committed to doing this. I was involved with one last year and found out that there were several whose partners didn't even contact them to let them know things got in the way and they couldn't participate. It was really sad and I would hate for that to happen to any of y'all. So... just keep that in mind, okay? Don't NOT participate because there's a possibility you might not be able to follow-through. If that happens (and hey, it happens), just reach out to your partner and let them know. Okay? Groovy!
Ahhh... it is GOOD to be back home! But you know... I don't feel like talking about how it was like, living out of suitcases for 3 weeks. I don't feel like talking about how it was awkward living at the in-laws, who are used to peace & quiet. I don't feel like talking about how much we spent on GAS having to trek back & forth to get Boo to school & back again. I don't feel like talking about how we literally ached for our own bed so our shoulders & hips wouldn't hurt. I don't feel like talking about the transition was especially hard on Boo. I don't feel like talking about how Hero & I would just sneak off to our room and watch movies on our portable dvd player just so we could be ALONE.

No. I don't feel like talking about any of that.

What I DO feel like talking about is Megan. She is so cute! Her family is so cute! Her blog is so cute! (And funny!) And she was my swap partner. I met her through Tausha's post on doing a swap. Let me tell you, I really enjoyed getting some things put together for her and sending it off. (Sorry Megan - that the package was kinda smushed!) I love her forever for sending me a bit of sunshine in the mail in the midst of a pretty cruddy time with the kitchen/black mold/junk stuff.

FYI Megan? I didn't eat the M&M's in one sitting... and I refuse to comment any further than that. ;-)

YES. I took this picture.

YES. I touched its shell.

YES. Crabs gross me out.

YES. This was the COOLEST THING EVER!

.

Recently, Hero & I had the opportunity to go to Marina Beach in Edmonds, Washington. Seriously, it's our favorite beach ever! Why did we go? It was Boo's final field trip of the school year. It was misty weather (Seattlelites know what I'm talking about) and it ALSO happened to be the lowest tide in over a decade!!!

We saw things like . Oh, those are my new boots. :)
And mussels. This first picture - these mussels are actually only about 1/4-1/2 inch big. Yeah, I know - cool camera. The second one - are the same mussels but it's to show you how it's attached to the piling of the deck... See how it comes to a point? The whole MIDDLE SECTION has been rotted away so that particular piling is essentially... just hanging there!

This is just ONE of the starfish we found.

Quick update: Kitchen is torn out. We're living at the in-laws who have been fantastic. We're hopefully moving tomorrow to an empty apartment until ours is available (July). By the way, the counter & bottom cupboards have been torn out. We haven't taken any pics since the beginning.
JOYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!

Friday, June 06, 2008

We're out of comission for now. Our kitchen is totally torn apart, walls ripped out, fans going to dry up the water, blah blah blah blah.... SO - we're looking for a place to live for the next 2-3 weeks. I'm cranky, tired & feeling displaced. It will be a good thing for YOU GUYS that I'm not going to be blogging right now... lol!

Have a great week, peeps! Write funny/interesting blogs so I can have something to read during the odd hours of the night when I can borrow my in-laws computer. :)

This photo was taken by Opal Blue. Sorry - I don't have a link for her... I just wanted to post a colorful picture to make me happy. Happy inspite of the shower flooding the kitchen right below. Happy inspite of using up a gazillion towels to mop up the mess for the third time. Happy inspite of it "raining" on my new microwave, toaster & KitchenAid. Happy inspite of the mold we discovered inside the kitchen cupboard which made us think there's been a problem for awhile. Happy inspite of ..... oh dagnabbitrabbit. It's flooding again.

Dumb bangs...

It's been forever since I've had my hair cut. The nice thing is... my hair is curly so I can do some chopping without it being TOO noticeable. HOWEVER - - I REALLY should not be cutting my bangs. Seriously. I went just a little too short and well, you get the point. I should leave it to professionals.

*sigh*
Beauty alone makes all the world happy, and every being forgets its limitations as long as it experiences her enchantment.
