"Love many things, for therein lies the true strength, and whosoever loves much performs much, and can accomplish much, and what is done in love is done well." ~Vincent Van Gogh~

Are you getting ready for Christmas? Well, would you believe I AM? I'm making it a homey Christmas this year. You know, homemade gifts & treats. We need to be more thoughtful about what Christmas really is about and not just "What did you get me?"
BUT - I was reading this gal's blog and I SO want to participate! She's doing an ornament swap! How fun is that? Go HERE and read about it and then shoot off an email to her (her addy is posted.) You gotta be committed to following through with this. I've been burned before (and I suspect I may have burned somebody... ack!) and it is so not cool. SO - wanna jump in with me? Oh please do!

I'm dying (not literally) over this pic! I don't know WHO thought of it or why we thought it was such a good idea, but we dressed as nerds for a Young Adult dance. Heidi would bump people with her back-pack... not sure if it was on purpose or not. Stacey would do this wink thing while shooting guns. And me? Apparently I was reincarnating Betty Crocker. A compliment really. (For those of you who know I love to bake!) Anyway - we had a blast being nerds. It's so nice to be ourselves.
*snorts*
And you know what these two girls did? They DITCHED me at the dance! Oh yes they did! Thankfully, a guy I was interested in was there and he took me home. (I ended up marrying the guy. Oh! Not because he drove me home. HAHAH!)
Ah - this was a fun post for me.

I'm realizing something today... Apparently I'm harboring junior high feelings of jealousy & insecurity. Silly, innit? Afterall, I'm 40. Should be all growed up and all.
But I'm not.
Need to work on that.
On a MUCH lighter note. I've painted our living room a light blue. We've got a new desk & entertainment center in there, a beautiful high-pile rug (orange, purple, cranberry) and now I'm working on 1) finding fabric to cover the pillows on the couch, 2) art project to hang up and 3) finishing touches on a new open-back bookcase. I'm really enjoying this transformation of our home. Julie Beck, Relief Society President for the LDS church stated that "Your home should rise up and greet you." I am a firm believer in that and it's so wonderful to finally be able to do that!
I'll post pictures later this week. No before shots. I hated it and it's totally okay that you won't get to see it what it was like before. :)

Here we go... just dropped off Hero at the airport for another business trip. He'll be back on Tuesday, just in time for Boo's reception with the school board. What's that for? Her artwork was selected to be in the district-wide school calendar and the reception is to recognize the students whose artwork were selected. We're pretty excited about this!
Back to Hero being gone - I'm not liking it. It is such a huge struggle to not shut down. Oh, I do manage to feed the kids healthy meals and make sure they're taken care of. It's just - I shut down and don't move. There's a little part of me that says I should make a list and get going on it. But the reality is, if I make the list, I'll just stare at it and not do anything.
Ugh.
BUT - I have to do something. Right? I HAVE to! So, the first thing is - make lunch for me and the kids. Then we'll see what goes on from there.

Beauty alone makes all the world happy, and every being forgets its limitations as long as it experiences her enchantment.
