*achoo!*

Excuse me. I've got my first cold since BEFORE I was pregnant. And now, me, Little Slugger & Big Guy all have miserable colds. Yuck.

SO, let's talk about more happy things!

*achoo!*

I had a birthday yesterday! Isn't that so awesome? I turned 41. Yes. FORTY-ONE. I'm rather excited about it! This has been a very good year thus far and I am really looking forward to how the rest of the year pans out. (Why is the theme song from "Love Boat" popping up in my head? "It's exciting and newww..." Bleh!)

My baby sister is coming out for a visit in about a week! WOOHOO! I love her so much and I can't wait to see her beautiful baby girl again. (Prepare yourself Kays! I'll be snapping pics galore!) I'm just sorry her visit is so short... but she's got boys back home (her 3 sons & husband) that need her.

HRH is coming for a visit too! Ohhh have I got things planned! Sight-seeing, shopping, gabbing, dining! I'm so excited that I can't stand it! I think my husband can't stand it either... for other reasons as I've been in a mad frenzy in getting this place spic-and-span. Yeah, she's a professional house-cleaner so um... need to step it up a notch! To be fair, he's very happy for me and has been so sweet about things. I think he's looking forward to eating out too... see, I have this little secret. I don't even think HRH knows this about me. But here goes: I hate seafood. Yep. There. I said it. I'm a Pacific Northwester and I HATE SEAFOOD! If it's got legs, claws - YUCK! If it comes in a shell - YUCK! If it's SALMON - YUCK! But I do like Halibut. Cod. Annndddd... that's about it. Don't try to convince me that shrimp is divine or smashing crab-legs is fun. YUCK! YUCK! YUCK! So, back to my husband - - he's excited that he'll have an opportunity to have seafood. And I know HRH loves it. So, there I'll be... meekly eating my chicken while they whoop it up having salmon or some other such yuck. (No worries, HRH. I won't be gagging or pinching my nose. I have better manners than that. haha)

What else? Oh, my Little Slugger turns ONE in just a few short days. I can't believe it. Time flies! I love his personality. He gives mad faces but as soon as you smile at him, his face lights up and he gives the sweetest smile. Then he also does this surprised look with his mouth forming a perfect 'o'. I LOVE HIM!

Alright - this is a fluff post. I've got a few serious thoughts percolating in my head that I'd like to delve into. However, as my head feels like it's stuffed with cotton and it's a never-ending series of sneezes, I'll wait until my cold dissipates, disappears, dissolves, etc.

'Til then. Farewell.

I am doing it. Geneology! My gen-e-o-lo-gy! Sorry, that's a song that's sung by the youth in our church and every time I say, "I am doing it" - it creeps in. And makes me crabby! Not CRABBY crabby. Just you know, irritated. It also happens whenever I say, "Not last night, but the night before." I automatically add "24 robbers came a'knockin at my door!"

ANYWAY.

I am doing it! (Not geneology.)

A 5K!

With my daughter!

We signed her up for Girls On The Run program. She and I are both so excited! Well, that's not a completely true statement. She's super excited and I am excited to be part of this with her... BUT I hate running. I don't like things bouncing around. However, it's not for me that I'm doing this. I am doing it for HER. I think this has to be the ultimate Mother-daughter date!
There is just so much negativity out there... and it's over the dumbest things! My daughter now won't drink V-8 with her lunch because the kids make fun of her for liking it. We've been trying to provide her with things to do such as saying, "Oh man!!! You are missing out!" and walking away. I hate that she let's others influence her and how she feels about herself. Criminy - she's EIGHT years old!

Sigh.

In any case, we're hoping that along with this program, and our continual coaching - you know, positive parenting, she'll finally grasp that beautiful fact, SHE is a BEAUTIFUL Daughter of our Heavenly Father!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to go die exercise.

Okay. This gal seriously rocks. I got this lovely package in the mail today - what a fantastic way to start off February! A whole jar of Nutella-goodness to indulge in, BY MYSELF! WOOT!

Now, let's think about somebody we love. Who loves Nutella. Now, go and invite THEM to a Nutella party. C'mon people, let's spread the love!
Happy 1st day of February! It's a lovely month, yes? It's funny... my husband and I used to hate it. (Besides my birthday, that's just a special day that should literally be celebrated every.day.of.the.year.) When my husband and I were dating and then into our marriage, Valentine's Day was a crabby day. Something always seemed to go wrong. Scary (and psycho) old landlady dancing around in our living room in nothing but her undies, bad news in the mail, a trip to the ER, etc., AND etc. So we turned into not liking V-day so much. However, that changed 9 years ago. You see, I got a call at work and was told that Hero & I had been picked to be the adoptive parents of our precious Boo! Yep - that call came on VALENTINE'S DAY!!! You shoulda heard the whooping, the screaming, the HALLELUJAH'S ringing through the office that day! Then along came Little Slugger... who was a *surprise* miracle baby. His birthday is also in February, 5 days after mine! Ah, February is now rose-tinted for us.

What are we going to do to celebrate February? Why, hang up heart cut-outs! Bake heart-shaped cookies! Write little love-notes! All kinds of fun stuff! What are you going to do to celebrate this month?
